these are contradictory.

a themed pc will never be best price to performance.

now, going to the build:

you want 2x16gb of ram, not 4x8. and you want lower latency, c19 is high and will affect performance. go for 3600C16 (ideal) or 3600c18 or 3200C16.

not sure why you need 11tb storage for a gaming pc.

a 1tb nvme ssd + 2tb hdd would be enough.

why a high end workstation CPU with a mid level GPU for gaming?

you should get a ryzen 5 3600 or 5600x and a rtx 3070 or 3080.

What exactly do they need this for. You put some rts games but that doesn't warrant a 16-core cpu. I'm guessing you had the 2 of each storage device for running in raid, but there's no point of running in raid unless you have data that's impossible or hard to replace. Do they need windows 10 pro either?

I'd scrap most of the components for something else. Without knowing what they're using the pc for I'll just try and give you a good price to performance build.

CPU: 5600x or 5800x

Mobo: same or a b550 motherboard

Ram: 3200mhz CL16 or 3600mhz CL18 16-32 gb

GPU: rtx 3070 or big navi

SSD: 512 gb pcie gen 4 m.2 ssd. (980 or sabrent rocket)

SSD2: 1-2 tb sata ssd based on what they need (mx500, 860evo, wd blue)

HDD: 4tb ~ $100 (if they really need mass storage)

PSU: 650-850 80+ gold psu (don't get TUF branding)

OS: windows 10 home

He does use his PC to record his stream, so needs lots of storage for all his video files. Hmm, guess I forget to add in this info.

Yeah. Agree, but he wants it, so...

I'm still looking for a better PSU with TUF theme.

Well, I should have mention the system is gaming/workstation hybrid.

You know what, I think I just tell him to get a Asus TUF laptop, much more better. The A17 one seems not bad, but too bad that giant hunk of laptop doesn't even have RTX2060 Max-Q! The A15 does have RTX2060, although the laptop is smaller.

Yeah, too bad he is stubborn as a mule. But it's okay. I know many people did try to get me the best PC components, even I try to advise him about that, but he still insisted. Well, need more persuasion, I guess.

Anyway, after a little chat, he is considering for the laptop since he will be going to college next year. I felt laptop will be much suited since he will be travelling frequently.

As for the desktop, well, I'm still trying to persuade him to only get TUF casing while leave the rest to a more better components, if he still decided to go for desktop.

Remember guys, it is 'HIS' PC that I'm building, not mine. I'm also not really an Asus fan (although Strix looks cool but they somehow overpriced IMO). I'm more like Gigabyte and Thermaltake fanboy, but usually I leave my option opens for other brand as well.

Also, as I was looking this, is AMD Ryzen 5 3600 desktop CPU becoming more expensive? Not only that, but like many of 3000 series CPU are getting expensive from last month. My local shop seems to raise their price by a little.

Well,my myself i aint loyal to any brand,i will buy something that is better then stick to certain brand.Maybe he is liking some streamer and he said TUF is good etc.

If he is traveling you cant beat laptop then, you should build/buy setup depending on your needs.

It shouldnt be more expensive, maybe they are getting rid of the stock and trying to earn extra money,or they are just raising prices before black friday,so when they put black friday "sale",its gona be regular price actually, many shops do this kind of stuff.

And with laptop you should do a lot of research, since some laptop even with great components, have bad build quality and bad thermals.

We at Malaysia doesn't have Black Friday Sales. I guess it is likely currency, but I don't think our currency varies by a lot since the beginning of the year. Still baffles me why they raised the price. Not sure is it because of supply vs. demand. Anyway, it's not uncommon to see AMD or Intel raise or lower their price beyond US market last time. So I guess maybe, just maybe AMD Malaysia is raising the price, or it could be the product is harder to get, since 5000 series is about to launch.

Yeah. He is quite picky, and I'm quite annoyed by his decision. We as a friend try to get the best for him, but he's like, 'I want it my way'.

So, anyway, I'm thinking of getting him Asus TUF Gaming A17. I'm going to recommend him the Ryzen 7 4800H with GTX1660Ti. I'm also thinking of Asus TUF Gaming A15, which has RTX2060 and Ryzen 9, but he might need a bigger screen as he usually doing video editing and stuff. I don't know, but I'll just let him decide.

well ryzen 4000 series prove it self like a good choice,i am honestly clueless on how strong gpu will he need for video editing and stuff, but he can always pickup one cheaper external monitor, siince well dual monitors are blessing for workstuff,

Indeed. I mean, he did some gaming, mostly RTS like StarCraft 2, so quite many of the game doesn't require high end graphic with the exception of Anno series. I wonder why A17, being bigger, doesn't have Ryzen 9 and RTX 2060 as option but the A15 has. It kinda makes no sense. A17 is bigger and can fit bigger heat sink.
