Black Screen while trying to take picture on Sony Cybershot DSC-P51

I recently purchased a used Sony DSC-P51 camera from a yard sale. When I try to take pictures the screen will show black, and it does the same when viewing the photos. I don't think it's the memory stick since there are some old photos left on there by the previous owner. Is there any way to fix this?

It retracts as normal.

Then shine a flashlight into the lens, and take a pic, see if you can see the shutter or iris opening and closing.

I do not see the lens doing anything.

That could be the issue then, fixing that is going to be very expensive. More than the cost of a new camera
