HP AIO Touchscreen does weird things?

Today i have been tasked with fixing an hp all in one pc that the touchscreen registers touch, like you can switch windows and stuff, and it shows the shadow, but it wont execute and "clicks" any ideas?

hmmm...check the mouse settings in windows perhaps?

tried that. tried reinstalling drivers, running touchscreen setup. this one has me stumped.

Ok, plug in a USB mouse, see if the mouse buttons work, if they do, then it may be a hardware failure.

If not, then it's a software hiccup.

 

Only other place I could think of for mouse settings would be in the accessibility options.

So still may be hardware. I know this is a PITA, but can you try like a liveUSB or liveDVD of Linux Mint? If the screen won't support doubleclicking under that, then we know it's hardware at fault.
