Will more ram help cpu usage

Go to solution Solved by Tan3l6,

Yeah, adding more ram probably won't lower CPU usage. Often people are more concerned about games not using 100% CPU ..

Switching to dual channel RAM , either 2x4 or 2x8 GB, would improve the performance a bit, but not too much.

My pc is:

I5 6500

1x8 gb ram 2133mhz

gtx 10603gb (I am playing esport titles 720p and everything on low )

MSI B150m pro vdh motherboard

Recently a couple of friends got me into comp fortnite (yeah I know fortnite ) and I can't even get consistent 100 fps at 720p everything low .

My cpu is always around 95 - 100 % and my fps is going from 100 - 60 sometimes even lower which makes the game unplayable .

I don't have the opportunity to build a new pc so I was wondering if more ram is going to help .

imho the biggest bottleneck in your setup is cpu, so no, more ram won't help much.

You could look at what else is using up your precious CPU cycles, other than fortnite, and turn them off

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

running dual channel may give you more performance, though i doubt it will help with CPU usage.
