Upgrading from the 1050ti

tank234

So I have been gaming more than ever due to this ongoing situation. I have noticed that my 1050ti that I have had for almost 3 years now is starting to show its age barely able to play games at high to medium settings. Sure it's still a good card with lower settings but it just doesn't look good to me. I have a i7-8700 and a 450w psu from corsair what would be good upgrade for around $400 cad and that I can still use my current psu? I have been looking at the 1070s and rx580 and the 1660ti. But just don't know what to upgrade to.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

What 450w psu?

How much is a 5700/xt?

it is a cx450w 5700 run for around $500 CAD while the xt's are usually $600 on amazon.ca

A 2060 super is ok with a 450W psu. I was considering a 2060 super but was unsure if my psu can handle that

Ok, the Cx45 should handle most cards fine.

Wasn’t expecting the pricing to be so high on the 5700s, try looking for a 2060s or a 5600/xt maybe?

for $400 cad, this is the best you can get

Radeon RX 5600 XT

for a significant improvement, you would have to spend $500+ on a 2060 super or a 5700.

Alright thanks will look into that. My psu will handle that card?

Yeah, shouldn't be a problem.

Alright do you know what the maximum gpu my psu can handle before I should consider getting a new psu?  it is a cx450

5600xt has a tdp of 150W, 2060 of 160W. anything higher than that goes into 180W + territory and your psu starts to struggle.

Well I would recommend upgrading it sometime when you get something like an RTX 2060S, so the 5600 XT is the max that I would comfortably recommend.

alright thank you
