Case fan

On my current build I have 3x ll140 in take fans on the front 2xll20 top exhaust fans and 1xll120 rear exhaust do I need all those fans on my new ryzen 3900x build

The more fans the better for cooling i find.

No.

 

Running 3900x pbo with dark rock pro 4 on define s2 (non mesh) with stock gp14 fans on max 50% rpm under sustained load. Cpu never exceeds 74'c

 

Unless... you have fans on a front mounted rad as intake, thats basically anti-cooling and just heating up the system.

 

My unpopular opinion is that unless running 2080ti's in sli, theres hardly ever need for more than 3 fans (2 intake, 1 exhaust) as long as you have a good aircooler that expells heat directly to the exhaust. Those with $200+ cooling solutions "because oc heat" woukd have been better off spending that money towards a next tier cpu thats faster out of the box and/or better vrm mobo that doesnt heat up nearly as much. Added benefit would be the system not sounding like a runing hovercraft thats being vacuumed by 70 cleaners inside.

 

Of course theres aestetics, if you love rgb or custom loop theres no arguing with that :)

Case? Thats kinda big when talking about "case fans". And what CPU cooler and GPU cooler style also matter.
