New case front usb3 not working

XboxDeserter

Hi all,

Brought my Son a new case for his birthday, we transferred all the gear without any problems but the front IO USB3 doesnt work?

Antec sent me a new IO cable block but this didnt make any different, I brought a different usb3 header cable from ebay and this didnt work either but if I plug in the old cases usb3 cable it all works?????

Ive tried HP forums but no one knows the answer. For now ive retro fit the old IO panel on the rear of the new case which works fine but I dont understand why the new cases usb3 doesnt work??

Any ideas?

Love the Youtube channel!!

Thanks

Just so I get this straight, New case, USB dont work. so you get a new pcb with the usb connectors on it. still doesnt work. You then switched to a new cable. still doesnt work. But the header on the motherboard does in fact work, because you tested the old one after the fact. Correct? so my guess is, if you had to do any splicing or rewiring, check those. make sure the wires are in fact wired properly. which case is this?

Hi,

Case is a Antec DA601. Header on mobo works as the original case cable is plugged in and works fine. Usb3 Cables in new case do not work, replacement cable didnt work, different cable from ebay didnt work. No splicing of cables.

Someone on HP forum said it may be a HP thing and only their cables work on the mobo? Seems a bit odd to me.

Thanks

Based on the replys so far...   Is the Old case a pre-build HP PC?   Do you happen to know what make/model of motherboard it is?  Maybe that will help pin down the problem.

Yes it was a pre built HP Omen, mobo is a IPM17-002, when we changed case we only upgraded the psu, gpu and RAM, everything else was left alone.

Thanks
