Pump connected to molex, 4 pin to Fan header?

Can I connect my molex connector to the PSU molex and 4 pin connector to the fan header?? <<<Noob in pc building>>>

If I’m understanding the question right you are asking if the molecule off your psu and the fan headers on your motherboard are both safe options to use for case fan and other components power. Yes, as long as your psu is rated for whatever your powering.

NO.  Do not plug the molex and the 4 pin header coming off your pump for power to both.  Im not sure what will happen but to me, the reason the 4 pin molex exists, is only in case you don't have a 4 pin PUMP header on your mobo that requires up to 5 amps I believe.

Well Ive had pumps that do both, so I cant say what to do. without seeing it. Mine only get power from molex. So I don't have a choice. Thus plugging the "4pin" in gives me control and speed for the pump. So without it, it runs at 100% supposedly.

What pump exactly?

Most likely it's molex for power and the 4pin fan header is for rpm and pwm control.

Hey man, assuming you are talking about a traditional laing pump (DDC or D5) then this is standard practice.

If you see two wire going from your pump to a molex connector, these are live and neutral wires, specifically designed to provide power (often yellow and black)

The Fan header should have 1 or 2 additional wires which would be either a RPM sensor OR an RPM sensor AND PWM (aka speed) control.

It would be extremely odd for a pump to have two sets of live and neutral wires, allowing it to be powered in two methods....

Some pumps only have a menu speed control dial at the bottom, and some are pwm.

I assuming you are looking for PWM pump: Molex for power, the 4 pin connector "reports" the current RPM to your mobo, as well as receiving regulator instruction from it.

This one suits your answer perfectly
