Your own dedicated server can be super cheap once you need to use lots of disk space

Leaseweb has servers with 2 TB hard drive and 10 TB bandwidth for something like 30$ a month.

You can setup a basic web server and/or a ftp server, and you can upload files through ftp and make your own custom links or whatever, set up passwords for users, whatever
