What places are there in the Detroit area to donate old computer parts?

Dash Lambda

I have a variety of old electronics things that I'd rather donate than throw out. I don't think there's a Freegeek around here, any others you guys recommend?

Yeah, there used to be almost a hundred freegeeks a or something across the US, but a lot of the “non-profits” weren’t doing the non profit bit very well and most of them got shut down. :/  Only a few are left.  They’re kind of ripe for re-expansion imho.  It’s a good model when it’s followed.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Ah the grownup equivalent of “leave bag of flaming poop on someone’s doorstep” IIRC Detroit citizens developed an attitude about that one and will snap a photo of your license plate when you’re running away from your leavings.  Multi thousand dollar fine plus you get to pay to clean up your mess anyway.

One-dump as in give it all to the same place, I think. Not as in drop it somewhere random.

So he mentioned.  Maybe two dump and see if there’s anything goodwill will take first.  They’re better than no electronics specialist refurbisher at all.  Some of the stuff would at least be of use to someone.

there is a microcenter in madison heights which is great to visit, just for experience of going to microcenter, im not sure if they will take all components though so probs not worth mentioning unless you can call and confirm

goodwill, bestbuy, staples etc probably best and easiest bets

also how tf we still have bronies, let alone in detroit, you should be a weeb by now, we are intellectuals not savages, fuck what other states think of us

“ what other states think of us”. That’s weird.  Maybe you mean what the national media portrayal is.

the media portrayal seems to be one of a state that got savaged rather than a state full of savages. That statement that California wasn’t actually part of America didn’t help the “not savages” bit though.  I’ve got a lot of family in or from Detroit, and that was to date the least intellectual thing I’ve heard coming out of anything associated with it.

wow, fascinating, you mean the one from a completely different thread?  someday i will figure out satire, someday, tbh i honestly hope i can cause i dislike being a jerk.  Until then im happy living in metropolis which bases its norms in reality rather then twitter, its nice. I do feel bad but ffs i hate what has become of ppl online, i hate how serious everything is. Poes law has been a thing since 2005, why is it becoming harder to just be a goof

Yes i'm being serious, i do feel bad but can't be buggered, still gonna prefer this side of the seaboard until then, probably likely forever even disregarding all the poop, green ooze coming out of our highways.

Yeah.  Different thread.  They appeared one after the other in my feed though.  View becomes subjective.  Myself ive never used twitter so I don’t know what you mean.
