My son needs a laptop

Hi everyone please don't shout at me for this question but my son needs a laptop for school but I don't know what to get the budget is around £650 (~$850) it's for school but I'm sure he will want to play some games on it. One thing I do know is that he won't want an Apple laptop as his uses strictly android smartphones.

So what do you recommend?

Get a Thinkpad, used/refurb or new. I can suggest more models but I need more info...does he want a 12.5" screen, 14", or 15.6"? Lots of ports? Removeable battery? Does he want something thin and light?

I agree with @kelvinhall05, a Thinkpad is probably your best bet, or perhaps a Surface Laptop if you can find one.

I'd check the Lenovo site around Black Friday though; they usually have insane sales.

A used surface laptop is a great bet. I got my surface laptop 2 (256gb i5) for £500 a month ago and its a beautiful, incredibly well built machine. Another option would be a used/new Hp elitebook, something from the 800 series most likely. An 830/840 G5 or G6 would do him well as they are very nice machines with good build that can be had for sub 500 easily.
