Buying new RAM

Hello im thinking about buying more ram, currently i have 8gb (2x4), theres an offer of 1x8 and its really cheap so i can affor buying a pair of 1x8, its the same brand (corsair vengeance) my question is, does it have any effect being 1x8 or its the same?

Pc specs? you should get another 2x4gb. That 1x8gb would not run in dual channel so you could have issues.

(Also case airflow matter or if you are using Downcraft air cooler)

If you bought 8GB sticks, you could put them in 8 - 4 - 8 - 4 layout and they will work at base JEDEC speed.

I have an asus b350m mobo, currently have a 2x4 ram, i want to buy 2x8 because i have 2 free slots for ram, will it run bad?

my english is kinda bad so sorry if i couldnt make myself clear,

So their base speed is 2400mhz, they would run at that speed and there wouldnt be a problem? Or should i just buy another 2x4?

There would not be problem in speeds, but since 16gb ram is more than you need, you should get 2x4gb.

And if you buy 2x4gb, you now have 8gb toal running in dual channel and other 8gb running in dual channel, it could give you some more performance. And you should manually oc your memory to 2666mhz since ryzen likes faster memory

It's fine, they'll run that no problem. At most they'll run 2133 until you manually select 2400MHz

Thanks for the replies, i want the 1x8 because i can get 2 for the price of a 2x4 so i think its super worth getting the 2x8 instead of 2x4
