Will the 5700xt drive this monitor

Fontaine

On to the second part of my new build. Upgrading graphics. I love my 34" LG Ultrawide, but want to upgrade to a higher refresh rate curved monitor and I figure why not go all out and get the Samsung 49" C49RG90 (https://www.ebuyer.com/882341-samsung-c49rg90-49-qled-curved-ultra-wide-dual-qhd-gaming-monitor-lc49rg90ssuxen). I plan on pairing with the Asus ROG Strix 5700xt. Will this be enough to drive it? And I know some game wont support 32:9 etc etc, but I resume there will be no issues running them at a lower ratio and resolution when needed?

Should run it, but not that well.  Settings have to be turned down. It's almost a 4K pixel count.

Not sure why you're going for a higher refresh monitor and worse actual refresh rate...

Oh the LG UW is only 60Hz?!

Damn.  Still, I don't really care for the Ultra Ultrawides, and would opt for a nice 120Hz 1440p UW personally.  I find that the UI elements are at a comfortable place on my UW, but I wouldn't want them further.

I agree as that I think is the sweet spot for Ultra Wides, but that does require more horse power to drive too.

OP, I think if your target is 4K~ pixels, you might as well go for an RTX 2080S/TI

I actually just bought the ASUS ROG STRIX 5700XT and am looking forward to drive my 2560x1080 200hz monitor with it, but the 5700XT is also a very solid 1440P card.

Temper your expectations.

Yep, it's an old one!

That Samsung is 120hz, but I know where you're coming from. Personally I like the ultrawide so why the hell not go wider!

Casual gamer here. I want the ultra ultrawide for other things. I'd be happy with geting a stabe 60 fps on the monitor with the option to increase to said 120 in the future.

So would the 5700xt manage that at high setting on most titles do you think?

I can't see a great benefit in costt to preformance ratio by going to a rtx 2080

I can see the benefit at that resolution.

I say give it a shot and let us know your experience, but I would argue that an RTX 2080S or TI would be best suited if I want to push 60fps at 4K resolution on high settings in modern titles.

Considering that "most titles" are actually not new, yes. If you're asking for info about modern titles, than it's going to come very close to 60 FPS at high in most modern titles for that resolution. (it's about 7/8ths the number of pixels as 4k, and 4k high will usually get about 45-60 FPS on a 5700 XT) Now you just have to hope the games you want to play support that resolution. ;)

Hitting around 60 fps, give or take, in games I've tired so far either on high or very high so happy with that. Love the screen, game changer! Make everything feel like a true upgrade! Do it people, do it....

Had to do some tweaking to get a good experience in some games mind you, HUD to too far spread on some games. Had to force 3840 x 1440 in The Outer Worlds and max out the FOV 120, but once that was done, all good. And on the plus side, you get a frame rate increase by doing so!

Total war is epic in full 5120 x 1440.

Still to test HDR. Shall fire up tomb radier that one.....

I guess you gotta expect some tweaking in the world of PC and ultrawide!

Yeah and not many reviewers really cover ultra-wide benchmarks.

I actually do a bit of guess work as 2560x1080 is right in between 1080P and 1440P, so looking at both gives me an idea of what I'll get.

In your case, it really will be some guess work. I am impressed by your performance with the 5700XT though.

Hello,

Looking at pairing a CHG490 with a 5700xt. Just wondering how your set up is doing? How well does freesync 2 work?

I am about to order this monitor also.

I also have a rog 5700xt.

This may be a dumb question but could you not game at 3840 x 1080. (if the game supports it)  to keep your fps up. And then use the native resolution for work.

Would there be a noticeable drop in quality or smoothness if the screen had to scale down?
