x470 board

kman458

I am building a new system around the gigabyte x470 aorus gaming 7 motherboard and a 2700x cpu. I want to know what will happen if I use the same motherboard with a 3700x cpu, What will I lose functionality will I lose by not going with a x570 motherboard? or will there really be little to no difference?

Thanks for y'alls help

in functionality and performance it should be virtually the same so AMD Claim.

Dont forget the 470 board would need a bios update for the 3700x chips.

True and I'm guessing that can be done without the need for a 2700x cpu. Just flash it before even getting the machine up and running. I had planned on flashing the newest bios anyway and have someone I trust that is capable of getting this done.

Why not just wait for X570 ? Depending on your budget you might get an entry level board for around the same sort of price.

Its a budget think actually. I would want to go with a comparable x570 board and I think those will be out of my price range for a bit but I will keep an eye on prices till I buy the motherboard in a month or 2.

The Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro wifi is supposedly around $259 if you need wifi or $249 for the non wifi version. The X570 Aorus Elite is supposedly $199. I would say hang on for a few weeks until the 7/7 and see what prices are like. The Gigabyte X470 Gaming 7 is a solid board but it would be a shame to buy that now being so close to X570/Ryzen 3xxx launch.

ahhh ok I thought I read that they would be a lot more expensive than that and yes I will need wifi. I can wait and see how things work out before buying anything.

Yeah the Ultra board is nice. That would probably be my board of choice for Z390 or X570 if I bought a new pc.

That is the flagship board, so it costs a pretty packet ? Totally overkill though just like the MSI Godlike boards.

Spoiler

lol decisions, decisions, decisions. The Aorus pro would likely be more than enough for my needs. I have some time so we shall just wait and see how pricing and availability work out.

  thanks for your assistance
