What fan speed should my GPU be on

Using MSI Afterburner what fan speed should I put my RTX 2070 on? Its 50+ idle with a browser open. Bare in mind its 20% and not RPM

50c at idle ?! What is your room temp like?

mine runs idle around 29-32c and under normal

browsing like 35c

 

i have the fan curve set to auto. Fans don’t spin up until about 60c

Stock curve as fine so long as the GPU isn't throttling under a stress test

Download MSI Afterburner, and MSI Kombuster. Install both, and run Kombuster while looking at Afterburner. What temp does your GPU max out at?

What exact model of the 2070 do you have?

Weird that your temps are that high. I have the same model. How is the airflow in your case? Any case fans? What case?

That explains it. MSI Armor cards are known for constant overheating problems thanks to a crap cooler.

Which they fixed on their 20xx series. Few people I know have 2070’s and non have heating issues. Maybe a faulty card perhaps?

@Stormseeker9 If I put it on 50% and leave it would there be any issues if not then when I do that I get 40% idle and 60-65 gaming 2 settings ultra rest mid-high

Those temps are fine for under load. Similar to mine depending on the game and ambient temps of room.

Should be fine having them at 50%. If the noise doesn’t bother you, go ahead. Don’t think that in a normal lifespan of such a component it will wear out the fans extra fast before we replace the GPU.

The only part that gets stressed more is the fans themselves. Wont reduce the lifespan of the card itself.
