im a noob, i need help

Yessno

So i am running an asus gl702vsk

specs : i7-7700hq 2.8 ghz  4 core

             gtx 1070

my girlfriend bought me a monitor for Christmas, im using a thunderbolt usb type c to displayport for connection from the laptop to the monitor.

im getting some bad tearing in just normal use.

games are crisp but do tear quite often (i really only play rocket league)

thats at 60-100-144-200-240hz.

especially if i put it on 60 hz, and im just playing some runescape (oldschool) the icons on the mini map flicker and go back and fourth.

im not super tech savy so if you have any suggestions i would appreciate it.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Please excuse my grammar errors

edit : the moniter im using is an acer xb272 1080p 240 hz moniter

Try changing the cable. GL702 has mini display and hdmi, see if it glitches in that, try using that ports and see if it glitches.

so i tried with with a regular hdmi, i donot have a mini atm. but that sets it at 60 hz

and i still get a light flickering. much easier to notice on scape.

soi switched back to my laptop screen and i get no flickering or tearing, very smooth. =[
