I am new to pc building and was wondering what cpu I should pair with my rtx 2070. Got any advise?

There's plenty of options for gaming, it depends on what your monitor is going to be, if you want low resolution high refresh rate you'll need a core i5/i7 processor like the i5 8600K i5 9600K i7 8700 i7 8700K

 

If you want more resolution and low refresh rate like 60hz then a Ryzen 5 2600 which is usually cheaper would suffice.

2600, 2700, 1700, 1600, x versions, 1800x, 8600k, 8400, 8700k, 8500, 9600k, 9700k, 9900k. just to give some examples

@Princess Cadence I planned on using the ryzen 7 2700x. The monitor I'm using is a 1080p res 144hz 1ms. Goal is to build a pc that makes since and doesn't have parts in it that don't need to be in it.

High refresh gaming you'd be better off building around the i7 8700k, grab the cheapest Aorus z390 board you find, a dark rock pro 3 or 4 for cooling and any decent 2666mhz or above dual channel 16 GB memory kit.

 

A 550w 80 plus gold power supply and you are set.
