  1. Hi guys, sorry I didn't know what other channel to put this into but I have a question for any current or graduated engineering student. So i'm currently deciding between either getting a laptop (HP Envy x360 16Gb R7 7730U), iPad air (256gb) or Samsung Tab S9 (256gb). I am going into my first year of engineering and have been told by many that an ipad/tablet will be the better choice as it'll make taking notes a lot easier. The doubt that i have in my mind is that will the Tab S9 or iPad air be able to run all the applications that I would need for engineering for atleast the first 2-3 years. Any advice is appreciated, Thank you!!
  2. There's not really a backstory with this one. I was kind of just looking around for something to replace my surface (pro 2017) and when Asus announced this I immediately wanted one. I ended up finding one open box for what I considered a reasonable price... I ended up getting the top end one (i9, 3050Ti, 1TB SSD) from BestBuy for $1700 (Normally $1900). For some reason on Newegg & Ebay they seem to be going for ~$2400 which is a bit ridiculous IMO. There was a shortcircuit video on this so if you want more detailed information about it check there first. Performance: It's very powerful especially for the form factor. The GPU isn't anything to write home about, mine has the 3050 Ti and for the games I play (mainly Minecraft & BeamNG.Drive rn which are both very CPU intensive) it has no issues. The CPU is where it really shines though, scoring near my 10900k in cinebench. I'm super impressed that managed to cram a h series i9 into something this portable and not have it throttle a ton under any sign of load. It can spike up to ~100W for a short time but settles in around 55W while using the original 100W charger (more on this later) Obviously for the price you can get a laptop with an RTX 3070 which would destroy the 3050Ti in this machine but if you want a surface pro like form factor there really isn't anything like it. The closest thing in terms of performance in the ROG Mothership and that is much larger and heavier. Also the Surface Pro 8 with a (low power) i7 and no dedicated graphics/16GB RAM/1TB SSD (same RAM/Storage as my Flow Z13) is ~$125 more than I paid for my Flow Z13 and you don't even get a keyboard... Here's a Firestrike run as well for good measure. Display/Keyboard: To start, mine has the 1200p@120hz panel and that's the one I would recommend. 120Hz smoothness and no scaling is way better than the added resolution and better colour in my opinion. It gets decently bright and it looks quite nice, I'm not really the one to ask about colour accuracy as I don't really care as long as it doesn't look like total ass... But the panel is quite responsive and I haven't had any complaints. (also if you care, Twinkletray works perfectly with it). Now the keyboard, it's good. The typing experience is pretty similar to my Surface Pro 4 keyboard. Even though mine is a US layout, Asus did 'connect' the slash and enter key similar to how the enter key is shaped on other layouts, no idea why but it doesn't really change anything as they are still separate keys. The keyboard isn't per key but it is RGB. I don't really care but it would have been nice to have per key RGB (though I also understand that it's super thin and also not really necessary) Ports: It has 2 USB-C ports (one of which is under the rubber cover and technically part of the XG-Mobile port). The exposed one is thunderbolt 4 compatible and both do 10Gb/s and can be used to charge. It also has a USB 2.0 Type A port which I really wish was 3.0, it's not a huge deal but it would be nice to just be able to plug in a flash drive or my phone and not have to worry about being limited to USB 2.0 speeds. (though again, there is an extra type C port so I could always get a dongle or just a USB-C flash drive/C to C cable for my phone). It also has a 3.5mm jack and SD card reader. The XG-Mobile port is so close to being amazing. It's still cool, especially because you can use it to charge and add extra ports to it however I really think Asus missed a super cool opportunity to make a dock for desktop GPUs that connect via the XG Mobile connector, I feel like even with the limitation of Gen3x8 a desktop 3080 would destroy the mobile 3080 in the current top end XG-Mobile dock thing. Battery: I leave mine with the Optimus disabled and the battery life seems to be ~2 hours while doing normal stuff like browsing the web/watching YouTube and obviously much less when gaming. I'm sure if you re-enabled optimus and turned on power saving you could probably push 3-4 hours maybe more but battery life definitely isn't great. Problems/Inconsistencies: The biggest complaint I have BY FAR is the bullshit arbitrary limitation on their chargers. Apparently this isn't a new thing but Asus is using USB-C PD however they limit non Asus chargers to 65W over USB-C despite the fact that their charger uses the same voltage/amperage as the USB-C PD standard (20V@5A). This is fucking ridiculous in my opinion. If you want full CPU performance (>30W) you NEED the official charger, and on top of that the only place I can find to buy one is asus-accessories.com and it costs $90+shipping which is quite steep for a 100W USB-C PD charger. Also you don't get the ability to use your own cables with the official adapter. To be fair, the gaming performance seems to be similar using a USB-C PD charger and the official one however the laptop will discharge when using one. Another complaint I have is the weird lighting issues I am having, it just feels unfinished. You need to either select a preset pattern or use Aura Creator, but the problem is Aura Creator is not great. But once you have the lighting set up you're not free of my main issues. The window on the back appears to just randomly decide to switch to a different white only light effect when charging. I don't know if this is supposed to indicate it's done? or maybe just indicate it's charging? no idea, but it would be nice if there were options to configure this. Also sometimes the keyboard backlights doesn't come back on when waking the device and the only way I can fix it is detecting the keyboard and re-attaching it. It gets really annoying and I'm hoping I can find a fix for this. Also for some reason Armoury Crate reports the GPU max TGP is 50W. I never see over 35W and even Asus' own site says it's 40W max (and so does Nvidia's system information thing). Conclusion: In conclusion I still really like this machine, it's not for everyone and it definitely has it's problems but for me it's great and I'm hoping to keep it for many years to come. (Also the design is fucking amazing in my opinion, I love Asus ROG's new design style). Feel free to post questions and suggestions below.
  3. Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my now 4-5 year old Dell Inspiron 5482 2-in-1 because: Its battery life is becoming an issue where it can only be disconnected from power for 30 minutes, despite Windows claiming an hour or so. It will randomly decide not to turn on even when connected to power. It will drain the battery when it's supposed to be powered off. Its touch screen hasn't worked since I upgraded to Windows 11, despite Dell listing it as supported for the Windows 11 touchscreen driver at the time of Windows 11 release, although I can now find no record of such a driver (for Windows 10 or 11). I've been looking around for a new laptop, and I've come to a crossroads; Do I: Get one device, such as a gaming laptop. Get two or three devices, such as a regular laptop, a gaming handheld and possibly a tablet. I think the gaming laptop would probably be the better financial choice becuase, despite gaming laptops being expensive, it will have all of the budget/price going towards the one device so it's a mostly flat price whereas the dedicated device approach could work out cheaper or more expensive depending on the individual device pricing. I've read some comparison reviews of gaming laptops vs a laptop and gaming handheld and the outcome, as I see it, is that whilst gaming laptops can pack a lot of power into a small form factor, they are really just more mobile desktops. This is becuase oftentimes: You will need to be connected to a power socket to get the most out of the performance of the laptop; this tethers you to one location The screen needs to be at a particular angle to get good visibility, but this makes it difficult to use on a plane or bus or something if you want to game. Gaming laptops are heavy and noisy. I don't think there's any 2-in-1 gaming laptop In comparison, having two or three dedicated devices: You won't necessarily be tethered to a power socket to get the best performance out of the devices While the screen of a regular laptop would still have the same angling issues, you would at least be able to put your gaming handheld at whatever angle works for you and wouldn't run into the same issues with a plane, bus, or something similar. Both regular laptops and gaming handhelds can be heavy and noisy in their own ways but oftentimes aren't as heavy or nosy as a gaming laptop, so the weight and noise are a bit more distributed. To my knowledge, gaming handhelds generally aren't touchscreen, but you can get regular laptops in a 2-in-1 configuration. I'm leaning more towards the dedicated laptop and gaming handheld approach as it seems more flexible. For argument's sake this is what I'm thinking: If I went down the one gaming laptop approach then I'd probably get the ASUS Zephyrus G14 or one of the Lenovo Legion Slim series with an AMD chip. If I went down the two or three dedicated devices approach, then I'd probably choose between: Gaming handhelds: SteamDeck Asus ROG Ally (Leaning more towards this) Laptops: HP Pavilion Plus HP Spectre 2-in-1 ASUS Zephyrus G14 What I'd like from a laptop: Decent CPU and RAM: I'm generally quite taxing on my use of my current laptop, with the i5-8265U hovering around 50% at light usage and the 16GB of RAM hovering around 80% usage. Decent Screen: I never know where I'm going to be using it, so it being able to have a bright screen would be useful. I'd also like it to look good if it's used to watch movies or something. Dedicated GPU: I run 4 monitors at my desk via two Dell docks; one uses Intel UhD graphics, and the other relies on DisplayLink which I believe is a virtual GPU of some kind that always pegs my CPU. It having a dedicated GPU could help alleviate the performance hit of DisplayLink Optional wants: Thunderbolt 4: If the laptop supports Thunderbolt, then I could use an external GPU to power my 4 screens, which would alleviate the need for both docks or at least just the DisplayLink one. 2-in-1 convertibility: Having a 2-in-1 laptop can be useful in those rare situations where you are watching a movie in bed and don't need the keyboard or when you are working at your desk and don't need a keyboard. I do recognize that having a 2-in-1, particularly one with a detachable keyboard, often means giving up some performance as all of the hardware then needs to packed behind the screen instead of underneath the keyboard. Any suggestions, opinions, experiences or general feedback is welcome.
  4. Hey guys, I have an old Sony Xperia Z tablet which was bought used when it was already long in the tooth and then used as a kitchen Youtube device for a while. Sadly at this point no apps really support it anymore, Android 5.1.1, any the hardware wouldn't be much good anyway nowadays, can barely decode 1080p browser streams. I have been trying to find a way to keep it as a functional display (with video/audio), but the software implementation has been problematic. Sony was deep into its own Bravia/Xperia ecosystem by then ~2012, backed by Miracast apparently, but all the functionalities seem to be focused around casting to the TV, not to it specifically, even tough in the One Tap Setup it does list "Mirror your Xperia Phone Screne on your Xperia Tablet". However, ofcourse i don't have a Sony Xperia 2012 phone and i'm trying to get my Samsung S10e to cast to it. They don't find eachother over the network, setting up Mirroring on the tablet actually puts me into a "mirror on a big screen", not offering any other option, and the One Touch Connect which would use NFC, just gives me a NFC read error when trying with my phone. I'd really love to keep using it as a small display and i'm willing to root it to keep it usable. Also, while the S10e is primary concern, i'd like to also use it with my girlfriend's Pixel. I have found apps which can just share the screen, but there's significant audio latency or just don't pick up audio at all.
  5. Hello everyone! I'm looking for a tablet with a detachable keyboard or a folio case. My budget is under €500. For that price, the tablet and keyboard have to be included. I don't mind refurbished or used in good condition. My first pick would be an iPad with at least another 3 years of security updates. But I've seen that these can get quite expensive. I don't care what OS it runs, as long as it's not some random version of Android or Linux that no one knows about. I don't want any brands that aren't that well-known. I need at least 64GB of storage and expandable storage would be great but it's not a necessity. And the tablet can't be bigger than 12 inches. Thank you in advance for helping!
  6. In the world of computer peripherals that allow us to utilise our skills and optimise our workflow to the best of our abilities, such as keyboards, mice, and more esoteric pieces of equipment such as external keypads and trackpads. One quality-of-life peripheral that has come to light in recent modern times, the drawing tablet. A hard, capacitive sheet that accepts input, and can even substitute as a mouse. Today's subject is the Veikk S640, which I bought last year for £25.99, at the time, and to an extent, today, one of if not the cheapest drawing tablets available on the market. This tablet was marketed as an osu! tablet, and I spoiler alert, it is a damn good one. The tablet itself is fairly standard-looking, it is 6" by 4" in dimensions for the working surface area. The tablet also uses a non-detachable USB-A cable. It looks very basic, but that's what you get when you buy a tablet that is under £40. The pen is also fairly minimal, it has an understated design that I would bet would not look out of place in any work environment, apart from the two additional buttons near the tip. The tips are removable, but after a week of usage, I have not needed to swap out the tips. From tip to butt, the pen is 6" long. It also has the weight of a regular pen too, it's a well-built pen overall. For the drivers, I personally think the Veikk drivers are trash and thus refuse to use them. I instead use Hawku drivers, which are drivers that are optimized for low-latency input, designed for osu! gameplay. Inside these drviers, there are options such as setting the tablet area, buttons, and also enabling different polling rates. I personally have set my tablet area to be restricted to 1920x1080 on my 2560x1080 monitor, using the whole tablet area, and 1000Hz polling rate. My osu! sensitivity however is much higher and I never really find myself using the entirety of the tablet area anyway. First is a beatmap of Dragonforce's 'Ashes of The Dawn', one of the most crowded beatmaps I have played so far in my time picking up osu! You can see how accurate I am at utilising the pen's sensitivity to transfer between circles. I find the weight of the pen integral to the fast pace of the motions. 1.mp4 Second piece is the chorus for a beatmap of LOONA's 'Hi High', which is one of my favorite beatmaps that I have played over fifty times. I find the tablet extra responsive to where I need the cursor to go. 2.mp4 This last piece of gameplay, one of Dreamcatcher's 'Chase Me' is easily one of the fastest beatmaps I have played so far, it is super quick and requires a lot of jumping. You can see in the latter half of the clip below that I have to make some long jumps across, this is where those Hawku drivers come in clutch to help me aim where I need to. 4.mp4 This tablet is great, there's honestly nothing really bad about it, if anything. It's amazing value, the tablet and the pen are fairly robust in build quality, and the input for gameplay and drawing is immaculate. For the price, it's hard to reject it as a budget tablet. There's honestly not too much to point out in terms of bad things for this tablet. If I had to point a finger at one gripe, it would probably be the non-removable cable. Because of this cable, if it dies, the whole tablet goes down with it. It would have been amazing especially at this price to include a removable cable. But I do understand for this price why it was an omission, and honestly the price is enough of a pass for the cable. I highly recommend this tablet for any digital artists, osu! players, or anybody who needs/wants a more eccentric mouse input option. The price is right, the build is basic but decent, and the pen has a nice minimal design.
  7. Hello, my dearest Lithuanian tech tips, I have got an offer for uni and accepted it, into comp science(hurray), I have a laptop but need a tablet for note taking and stuff. My budget is below 250 USD/euro as I am in Europe and no baller. The specs I need are: A decent CPU, 6GB+ of RAM, 64GB+ of storage, over 9 inches , active stylus support? The options i found are: Realme Pad Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 Lenovo Tab m10 plus but only 4gb of ram Lenovo tab p11/plus Honor pad 8 Xiaomi redmi pad A blackview tablet(my dad had a blackview phone and it worked ages so its a decent brand) I need active stylus support because I want to take notes obviously, but found out there are apps with palm rejection, which is essentially what I need, but the question remains, Do I need an active stylus if there's palm rejection involved in the apps themselves, like Nebo or can i choose the bottom 2 choices also as a potential buy and just buy a passive stylus? Could thee help out in this question.
  8. Hey Guys, I am using an iPad Mini 6th Gen for my helicopter training. It works good for me but especially during the summer in the pretty warm cockpit the iPad often goes into the Overheat mode. There are special aviation cases with cooling but they are really bulky and really expensive, so my question is: Is there someone out there who had similar issues with the iPad Mini or maybe someone with a FLIR cam that could show me the typical hotspots so I can try to DIY some heatsinks or something over the area to get rid of those problems? i know pretty edge topic but I believe in the community having already solved this :) Any help is much appreciated
  9. Hi guys, so my Dad is looking for a tablet and I, thinking it would be easy, promised to help him. He needs: - a screen of at least 13 inches. - around 128GB of storage - (good) pencil capability Budget would be around 1000€, the cheaper, the better Thanks a lot!
  10. Hello all! I'm looking for suggestions as to what tablet would be best for small business use but hopefully wont break the bank. Im not only looking for something with decent battery life but also works well with addons like square pos. But Having a decent camera would be a bonus as well for taking inventory. I have no preference for operating systems but i am more familiar with android then ios. With all the choices out there its a crazy market to navigate and i could use all the help i can get.
  11. Hey, i am currently looking for a tablet (android) that is suitable for note taking and annotating large pdf files. I have kind of fallen in love with the Lenovo P11 Pro 2nd Gen, but the fact that the pen that goes with it is out of stock since it was announced more than six months ago i have little hope of ever being able to buy that and i am kind of worried that long reading and staring at the same page for a while might degrade the OLED panel fairly quickly. The non Pro Version would be an alternative, but no one seems to know what pen works with it, since people have claimed that only certain version of Lenovos Precicion Pen 2 will work... (For some reason there are 3 different once, all with the same name...) The Yoga Tab 13 also has Stylus support and being bigger would be great for note taking. My main problem is Stylus support is kind of broad thing. Some are really really bad, others are great. My general premise so far has been that active Pens using AES 2.0 should be all the same, since thats a wacom standart apparently. They should also all work with the same pens. Lenovos Precision Pen 2 is apparently AES 2.0, and according to lenovo it works with the Yoga Tab 13, however lenovos sales team was unable to confirm any of that. They basically just told me that they are all perfect and i should get whatever i want... Do you have any other recommendation that i should consider or some insights you want to share with me? I appreciate every bit of information on this since none of the manufacturers seem to give out these information on there own... The last time i used something with a stylus was a Lenovo Thinkpad yoga running windows, and it was terrible.
  12. Looking for a tablet for a relative - their main use case would be using it for WeChat video calls back to folks in HK, and I would also be setting it up for some Tuya-based IoT devices (mostly security cameras and lights at the moment). If it matters any for the latter, their ISP is Bell using the supplied HH3000 modem. I haven't really kept up with tablet hardware so I don't have any inkling on what's good or not - never really followed mobile hardware news. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Currently, I saw this Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022 model) with average reviews that's on sale at BestBuy for $280 CAD that seems like it might be suitable? Edit: Update, I ended up going with the Tab S6 Lite and they've been happy with the product so far.
  13. hey guys, im back at it again with my old RCA Viking 10 Pro. Android has been fun but with the ageing OS, issues with speed and the overall clunky nature has me looking for options to "upgrade" my tablet. it physically works but too slow to use with its capped version of android. im hoping to find something better. the only problem is that its micro-usb port is dead. it does have a full sized type A so hopefully i can find a solution. if anybody has a tips, tricks or ideas, plz share. thanks!
  14. Hello, I need a budget, non-rechargeable, preferably ergonomic mouse for office work and one with broad compatibility so I can connect it to tablet and/or smart TV and easily move between devices or take it on the go somewhere. Does mouse with radio frequency 2.5GHz and mouse with Bluetooth connection make difference for above purposes besides needing USB port for RF mouse and not needing for Bluetooth mouse? Any "palm-grip" mouse you can recommend from known brand and a mouse from least known brand? Doesn't have to be "palm grip" because "finger-grip" is good too. I even thought about buying from chinese website but their longevity sucks. Thanks
  15. Hey everyone, I'm an aspiring software developer and watch a lot of tutorials every day and spend most of my time using my PC, the problem with that is I can't sit for a very long time as it gets tiring and I lose my focus. So I'm thinking of a portable screen (preferably budget friendly/nothing too fancy). Something that I can use to work with my computer while on the move around the house. I've been thinking of a Microsoft Surface as my only option (can connect to my pc using RDP on local network), however, those come with so many things that I don't need and I think it would be much better if all of my budget went into the display itself rather than other stuff.
  16. hey guys, i recently built myself a NAS and im trying to figure out how to access it with my phone. all i really want is to do is back up photos to it or look up photos (among other files). can anybody point me in the right direction? thanks!
  17. i do wish ltt did a video on this, building pc videos are great but nothing for us on the go guys, ugh, there are so many companies and so many types of laptops/tablets i'm constantly wondering did i miss something. anyway i'm currently using a surface pro 7 which has many manufacturing issues (2nd tablet same issues). Normally surface pro's have been perfect for me(had a surface since surface pro 2 days), light weight, powerful enough, (fractionally lacking in graphics but not a huge issue). Budget (including currency): GBP £1200 but can stretch to £1400 Country: uk Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: mostly writing, youtube, puzzle games, like mini railways and train valley, but also civilization & stellaris and other 4x/strategy games Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): holy trinity of things i absolutly need: TOUCHSCREEN & 13" display/formfactor & folding/removing screen so its similar to tablet. things i'd like, 16gb ram, nvidia graphics (not this mx crap though) minimum of 256gb hdd, a micro/sd card slot I have been searching myself and i like the ASUS ROG Flow X13 GV301QEZ 13.4". its just in my price range with a deal, folds, touchscreen, 13", has a 3050ti, 16gb ram, 1tb hdd. my concern is i'm missing a manufacturer. so any help would be greatly appreciated oh i'm in no rush to buy this, next 6 months but i hate my current tablet so might want to get a new device for my bday in early april
  18. Hello, I'd like to get a tablet, I don't really need it, but I'd like to get one. I already have gaming desktop pc, 6 years old not very portable 15.6" gaming laptop (which I still use for work when I'm not home) and a "small" phone pixel 3a and I'm getting a galaxy s22 soon. As you can see I'm not in the apple ecosystem. I'd like to get a tablet to use around the house, in bed (my laptop gets too hot) and for when I travel or for when I don't need a full pc when I'm around. My main use would be: youtube, netflix, movies, web browsing, social medias and discord, reading e-books and why not some gaming. IPAD MINI PROS: very portable I'd easily carry it everywhere, perfect size for reading, better app optimization than on android, longer support (I guess at least 6 years), cheaper, brighter display for use outside of home, minor but it has better games or better optimized games than android (afaik), center stage (not that important really) CONS: only 64GB (is it enough?), smaller display for media consumption and general use, Ipad OS isn't that well optimized on the Mini in terms of UI sizing, extra money if I want the pen, jelly scrolling, no vanced youtube (goated app I love it) GALAXY TAB S8 PROS: Bigger storage and basically unlimited storage for movies on the sd if I travel, bigger (and good) display is better to watch movies and general use overall, 120Hz refresh rate, you get a pen and a keyboard (but no trackpad, idk how it is to use a tablet with keyboard but no trackpad), you get another tablet that I hope I could sell for 150€ at least, so total cost could go to 480€ but I'd probably get the 45W charger for 45€ so 525€ total (same as Ipad mini), samsung dex can make it more similar to a pc use, better multitasking, better internal camera placement (not that important really), youtube vanced, I have an android phone and I will have a galaxy s22 soon. CONS: Less portable, probably too big for reading and especially out of home like at the beach (what do you think, is it too big?), less bright screen for outside use, worse app optimization (like discord is terrible afaik), less years of support (4 vs the many of the ipad), worse selection of games and less optimized games (none of the famous games runs at 120fps). Considering these things and what products I already own, what would you pick and why? Thanks
  19. I want to use an emulator on my Windows 10 tablet, but the emulator itself doesn't have on-screen buttons. Can anyone recommend me a program that adds on-screen buttons for Windows 10? I searched myself, but I've had no luck and thought I might ask here.
  20. Hello everyone! I am a second year Computer Science student and I have been trying to decide which laptop to get for the past month. I initially wanted to get the surface pro laptop but it is so expensive and I have concerns about the keyboard as a programmer. My brothers both got surface pro's and they used them well. I would also get one if I knew that the keyboard won't annoy me after a while. I really loved the new Surface studio laptop and the Surface laptop 3 (with the detachable screen) are also very appealing to me. I am just shocked how much all laptops cost! I am currently using a restored Macbook pro 2014 13 inch with a HUION drawing pad to do my work. I love the macbook but I just need something to draw on lecture slides and do my math homework with! Does anyone have suggestions on what to get? Do I just have to spend a lot of money to get a good machine? (I have a gaming computer at home so I really just need a work machine that can do coding and a bit of multitasking)
  21. I have a Lenovo Tab M7 that i want to flash since the stock Android 9 is sluggish and can sometimes be unresponsive. However in my search it would seem Lenovo products are notoriously difficult to root and thus flashing a custom ROM is much more difficult. I would like to know if it is possible to flash a custom rom on this tablet and if there is a tutorial for newbies like me. @huilun02 if i recall you once said XDA was your backyard, any input?
  22. Hi, I'm searching for a laptop to replace my slow Thinkpad R400 and even slower and broken ASUS T100 2-in-1. The main features I'm looking for are: Somewhere around 12"-14" Windows 11 capable, does not need to have it installed yet, preferably Pro because that's what I've been (power) using. 1920x1080 or better Headphone jack German keyboard layout I want to use it primarily for Youtube, Netflix or other streaming services, mostly for something in the background while I'm tinkering with hardware or painting minis. Occasional multi-tasking with Firefox and many tabs as well as chatting (Discord, IRC). Playing Jackbox once or twice a year. Nice to have: touchscreen semi-decent screen USB port(s) Keyboard buttons being arranged similar to a regular keyboard. Some laptops have weird offsets that shift entire rows Stretch goals (both feature and budget): Digitizer & pen Fast enough for painting applications (amateur level) Robust and will keep running for many years to come Full size enter key (seems like a 50/50 chance on German laptop keyboards) Irrelevant to me: Long lasting battery (mostly powered use) It does not have to be a 2-in-1, I merely enjoyed the tablet + keyboard functionality. My budget is ~1000€ (including 20% VAT) though I wouldn't mind paying (much) less for a non-digitizer/no touchscreen laptop. I can also go a bit over that budget.
  23. Hey everyone, I'll start off with a little background: I am a junior in college, a computer science major. With classes back in person I am taking a lot more notes but I am quickly filling notebooks with these higher level classes. I see a lot of people using ipads and other tablets to take notes. I wanted to move towards something like this. In high school I was provided a 2 in 1 from HP. Keep in mind this was a budget one from 2015 and the notetaking experience was awful. That has left a bad taste in my mouth but I want to give them another look. So basically does anyone have any recommendations for a good note taking tablet with stylus? All it needs to do is take notes and it would be nice if it could program as well. Coding isn't really a heavy task honestly. I don't need power out of it I have a razer blade I use for everything else. I need it to be a great bang for the buck sort, budget isn't a huge issue but I am a college student. Just one that is pretty good at taking notes and is good value for the money. I have been looking into review for the surface go 2 and it seems decent. I saw a Samsung tablet as well I was going to look at it. The iPad I know is amazing at it but that price tag is very high and I am totally non apple. Any advice would help a ton. Usually I would do my own research but midterms approach. Thank you.
  24. Some apple user in Bilibili report there new iPad mini 6 tablet display have some noticable "rolling shutter" effect when they are try to using the device vertically. @EX日新月异 (The original title: iPad mini6 first batch problome bought form offical site “jelly display"【watch the first and last 10s】 replaced) https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1dv41137Zr?share_source=copy_web @蓝德岗的猫 (The original title: iPad mini 6 “jelly display" shot in the Apple store (in Ji Nan Hang Lung plaza apple store) ) https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV13f4y1E7zD?share_source=copy_web Some old iPad mini 5 user saying they alread have same kind of problome before only horizontally, and same kind of problome also appear in first gen Galaxy fold. (I reminber Linus or MKBHD mention in their review.) Very un Apple mistake, hope they can fix it down the line...
  25. I am in the market for a good 8-inch tablet and just noticed the new iPad mini announcement today. I have been running 8-inch android tablets for the last few years and am wondering if making the jump to iOS is worth it. Battery life, size, and responsiveness are important to me. Can anyone think of an 8-inch that is actually good on the Android side?
