I've got a new system and it was running great for the first few days however now I am experiencing very hard CPU spikes while gaming. The CPU will randomly spike to 100% and my game will freeze for 4-5 seconds. I have tried everything I can think of. Disabling all background apps and processes, uninstalling unnecessary programs, trying all sorts of rendering modes while playing and I am kind of at the end of my wits with things. I keep my task mask performance window open while playing and my CPU will spike to 100% when i freeze. AMD Adrenaline shows that my GPU/CPU are still at good temps even during the spike. Im not sure what to try next. Im thinking about trying to update the bios next but wanted to come here first. Any help would be much appreciated. Ill drop everything i know below. Thanks in advance Windows 11 AMD 7 7800X3D 4070 Ti 32GB DDR5 RAM (XMP enabled) MOBO - MSI PRO B650-VC WIFI

hello everyone, for the last two months I experienced some stuttering in all my games I currently play: League Of Legends Ruined King Valorant Dead By Daylight Witcher 3 Escape From Tarkov (well, its poorly optimised) interesting: neither GPU or CPU are fully used and I expected more fps than 60-90 fps I've tried many different things: clean reinstall of Windows 10 64 Bit (installed chipset driver before anything else with no internet) - did this 2x, one time with old mobo DDU and driver rollback disabling game mode and bar disabling freesync/vsync (it seems like vsync is making it worse in some games) reinstalling the game and installing it on an ssd (no change at all) chdsk and sfc /scannow Ryzen High Performance Power Plan Memtest86 3D Mark and Furmark benchmarks (no stutter at all) swapping: RAM, GPU and Mainboard (I rma-ed the mobo) unplugging unnecessary drives (just main C: left) old mainboard: updating BIOS and CMOS, C-States, SMT, XMP unplugging keyboard/mouse or wlan adapter unplugging second monitor changing graphics settings (also resolution) monitoring with rtss --> Frametime-spikes but no other coherent spikes checked temps updating drivers standby memory clean increasing pagefile size PCIe 4.0 enabled My PC specs: CPU: Ryzen 3700X no OC MB: MSI x570 Gaming Plus RAM: HyperX Predator 2x 8GB 3200MHz - HX432C16PB3K2/16 GPU: XfX Merc 308 Radeon RX 6600 XT PSU: bequiet! I have an i7-8700 CPU that normally idles around 35 degrees C. As soon as I open up google chrome, the temp spikes up to 55 degrees at 60-70% utilization and then drops back down. Is that normal CPU behavior? I dont think the CPU should be using that much of its power just to launch google chrome?

Hey guys! I am getting spikes of my SSD for 5-7 seconds where it maxes out it's utilization. My PC freezes during this time and I have no reason why. I noticed another time, from one of my other posts, that my GPU voltage also increased, however that hasn't happened again. Do any of you guys have any idea what's happening to my system? I installed some chrome extension to download vimeo videos, but they have been promptly removed since then. Please help!

Hello i have overclocked my 1600 to 3.9GHZ @ 1.3625 volts on stock cooler. Everything seems to be okay i stressed the cpu using Aida and cpu temps stop at around 77-78. How ever i checked on MSI after burner and noticed many spike in temperature usually around 6-9 degree spikes. I used different software CPUID and it also shows the same spikes. I checked the CPU temps in BIOS and there it seems stable it doesnt fluctuate. Im just wondering if this okay? thanks here is the image of the spikes

I have a 3070 zotac twin edge lhc oc, when browsing, so not even under load, the fans spike up and then stop again every few seconds, they reach 20.000rpm. i've tried setting up a curve on msi afterburner but it seems ignoring it. the temps are good, but I wanna know if it's a faulty card or is there a way to fix this. Another thing is that it have even random frequency clock spikes. I've tried undervolting it but it still have the same issue. It started after my dumb brother downloaded NFS heat through a crack website. I deleted all the files from that cracked website but still i started to notice that my Forza Horizon 5 fps drops from 100fps to 20. It randomly happends and i looked at the temperature it was 89c, thats not possible cause when i first bought it it was always capped to 86c. I ran ray-tracing before it capped to 86c. I resetted my laptop using the "keep my files" option but nothing changed. please help.

Help please, tried all I can to no avail. To begin, I was having issues with random shut downs during gaming (mostly when loading into a map in MW2). To solve this I updated to the latest bios update, seemed to fix the issue. I also updated my GPU drivers, along with updating to windows 11, which included having to turn on TPM 2.0. Since this, I have encountered stuttering (mostly micro stutters), along with the fact I am getting less FPS in general. Plus my CPU seems to spike (according to HWMonitor) to over my turbo clock speed, highest I’ve seen it go is 7.4ghz. Obviously this may be wrong(?) video / screenshot for context attached. The VCORE also states 0.000v. To attempt to fix this I have rolled back the bios one update, re-installed all my drivers to the latest ones, I’ve ran benchmarks, stress tests on CPU-Z, intels cpu diagnostic tool (passed). My temps are all normal (cpu 58°c max while gaming). Any ideas would be appreciated! On last couple days, My internet acting weird. When I play games like Destiny 2 and The Division 2, the ping spikes to 500 even 2000+. When I download something it shows NO symptoms or problems on it. I traceroute and ping some websites, there are no problems at all. I have 25 - 36 ms ping and traceroute shows the same result. But, when I try to download and do the ping test cmd prompt on the same time. The ping spikes into 200+, 500+ and sometimes RTOs. And this appear too when I play a game and do the ping test. I tried to switch DNS from default ISP to 1.1.1.1, but shows no impact. I tried to use VPN, it's even more worse than before. finally I contacted my ISP for solving this problem. But I'm still curious about it, because I face this problem a month ago. The ISP rep says that he gonna change/move my channel. I assume they change my assigned public IP from the ISP, because when I check my IP on https://whatismyipaddress.com/ it's not the same as before when I have the internet issue. And right now, after I upgrade my data plan from that ISP, my IP switch back to the broken one. My question is why this happened? and is there any chance if an IP address having ping issue? PS : I'm new in this forum, and my english is not that great

I have been experiencing lots of jittering and stutters in my online games noticing my ping gradually going up and down by 20-30 constantly throughout matches, for example if I'm on a server supposed to get 30 ping it will stay around 50 but count up and down from 40-70 ping throughout the match. I am on a wired connection with no 3rd party devices used. I have 0% packet loss showing when this happens too...... I dont know if this is just related to a crowded node in the area because everytime I contact my ISP they can't give me an answer and say everything is fine....... Hey guys. I've sent a message to Asus support, but they take ages to reply. My motherboard is "Asus Maximus VIII Hero Alpha" As you can see in the photo, the PCH and VRM max temperatures are very high (also the VRM min temp is 9'C)! If someone could let me know if they are having the same issue, and / or what you suggest I do? Also if Asus do come back to me and say it's a hardware fault and they want to replace the board, do I have to send the board back to them before they send me a new one? As I really don't want to be without my PC. I have checked and compared the temperature readings across programs and they are the same. (Note: ignore the high core temperatures, I was messing with speedfan. The VRM and PCH issue existed before I was using speedfan)NOTE: Temperatures are in 'C

tl:dr Ping and lagg spikes across entire pc help plox For the past month i have noticed that i started getting ping spikes and lagg spikes across my entire computer. By this i mean, my ping will shoot up to like 130ms and it will lagg until the ping shoots back down instantly, i mainly notice it in CSGO, Overwatch and Rocket League. Also, something else that happens is, when the spike happens, Discord skype or Teamspeak will lagg at the same time as this. As you can imagine, when playing competitive games, this isn't nice.... Has anyone else had this issue, if so please help?! My Wi-Fi Card : https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00HC01KMS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I use 5Ghz, not 2.4Ghz

Before anyone starts reading IT IS NOT CAUSED BY CPU BOTTLENECKING THE CARD, k, so i got a brand new RX 480 (sold my GTX 970 for one) most games work flawlessly even better but some others present this issue (see the image) and yield worse performance (now before you tell me why i sold the 970 for a 480, its because it was cheaper to get 2 480s than getting another gtx 970 g1 gaming where i live) and when i say some works work better they totally do, im able to do 60fps locked in Forza Horizon 3

Hey, I have a Lenovo Y50-70 Gaming Laptop, and a Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum mice (That's all my peripherals that I think matter to the situation, if you need more information, ask in the comments and I shall tell ye the rest). The Laptop's core specs are the following: GPU- NVIDIA GTX 860M; CPU- Intel i7-4710HQ @2.5GHz (4 Cores, 8 Threads), 8Gb RAM (One stock RAM stick, two RAM slots), 1080p Display. I recently went to play a few games, and the only ones I played seemed to have huge lag spikes when I move my mouse, going from 60fps to 20-15 fps ON THE MAIN MENU (That's the case of Outlast 1, I also tried Dude Simulator and it seems to just freeze for a split second every time I moved the mouse)... can someone help me try to find a solution for this (Updating the GPU Drivers is not possible, as I am using my phone's data plan to be on the internet on my PC)... Thanks in advance

Both monitors on = no video lag. One monitor off = video lag
TheJazzhands posted a topic in Displays
I have two lenovo monitors connected to a z270x ultra gaming motherboard via hdmi to dvi and dvi to dvi. The following was tested on both monitors. When im streaming a video it runs fine but if i turn the idle monitor off then my video begins to lag and become unwatchable. The mouse is unefected but i cant pause or click on things when it lags. However if both monitors are on then the problem never comes up. *i like to watch videos in full screen and it also helps to make it dark in the room as well so i would lime to be able to turn off the idle monitor without these lag spikes. i would appreciate any help. specs gigabyte z270x ultra gaming motheboard i5 7600k cpu 4.2ghz OC Corsair Vengance 3000 Mhz ram (2x) lenovo 1080p 21.5” monitors -
When I open up a program, the system seems to come to a crawl. It is kind of annoying, yet when I look at usage, it is <20%. When I look at the performance tab of task manager, I see that 1 core spikes, while the others just stay at low usage. My ethernet and disk usage spike if the program is on my d drive [hdd](I actually realized today that my game drive had 0bytes available). If I installed the affected program to my c drive (my SSD) I would encounter the same behavior. Anyway to diagnose what could be causing this headache?

Hey guys, my recently my CPU has been spiking to 100 percent in games, then dropping back down to 30-50 percent suddenly. While it does this, the entire computer freezes, and sometimes goes to a black screen. It didn't do this before, but now its doing this in most games. I checked its average temps, min is 40c, max is 50c, and average is probably 43c. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I get this when I ping to my router: Tried WLAN optimizer, didn't do anything. My drivers were 19.30 provided by sager, which I then updated to 19.70 directly from intel. I might try a clean install of the driver later. I'll also try to dig up my old trusty USB wifi receiver, get that installed and see if that gets these spikes (it shouldn't, I had it installed on a desktop a month ago, no problems). The spikes makes online gaming impossible. Players teleport every few seconds lol. Any ideas? Thanks!

So ever since yesterday my games that require online connection started experiencing periodic ping spikes that gets over 500ms and makes all the games practically unplayable.I've tried multiple solutions: updating driver, using the netsh winsock reset command prompt, booting in safe mode and none of them worked. I'm wondering maybe its a hardware issue...? I'm currently using a PCIe D-Link DWA-548 wireless adapter and I;m wondering maybe its an overheating issue perhaps...?

Hi everybody, I live with my brother and we have a 25 Mbit/s internet connection (25 up and 25 down with Bell Fibe) and the connection is almost always stable. My brother always plays CS:GO and every time I watch a YouTube video (at 720p, 60 fps when it's available), he always complain about his ping rising and lowering (from 40 ms to almost 150-200 ms). It does the same effect if I download something at 2 MB/s (limited to that so it doesn't block everything). I know it would be normal for a download, but for a video? I want to know if this is normal or not, and if I can tweak my router setting so it can prioritize cs:go (I tried with QoS, but maybe I did it wrong). My router is a Asus RT-N66U and my brother and I use Windows 10 PCs, both connected with CAT-5e wire (so no wifi). Thanks in advance for your answers!

It's lightning out and as any computer guy would I have everything on surge protectors but it's lightning outside. For a split second my TV and screens turned off so I wonder does it mean bad surge protection or did it just cut off output for a split second? It just acted like I quickly flipped the power off and back on, speakers made a pop but they catch any ground noise easily and pop when powers cut so pretty normal. I guess the TV just went black for a second, did not turn off but it has a cheaper protector. I assume a surge protector just dumps the surge to ground? Some people would unplug everything but between the ups devices and surge protection I would hope I'm ok.

Hey so basically whenever I am playing a game or whatever my ping randomly spikes up into the thousands. This is very annoying. This never happened before it only started about 2 weeks ago. Also, I ran a test on Dsl reports and my buffer bloat was an F. If that helps anyone. Please leave your suggestions. Thanks!
