  1. Is tomorrow gonna break the WAN streak? Production has been halted, if they decide to do one anyway do you guys think Linus will adress things or is he gonna ask to have patience until the investigations are over?
  2. There is this issue were a pc freezes and produces morse code type beeps. The beeps is the Windows sound "Beep" played while a pc is freezing. This freeze/beep problem happens on laptops and desktops(YT Laptop,YT Desktop). The amount, the time between beeps and length of the whole freeze seems to be random. Microsoft says it is not a Windows issue (Windows Forum) My troubleshooting topic on LTT (LTT Forum Topic) YT desktop specs: Windows 10 Pro i7-9700K EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 16GB G.Skill TridentZ Gigabyte Aorus Master (z370 chipset) 500GB c:/ drive YT Laptop: Acer Aspire R 14 Windows 10 Home i5-6200U/i7-6500U Intel HD Graphics 520 8GB RAM (Unknown manufacturer, probably kingston, but could also be samsung) 250/500GB 960 EVO m.2 c:/ drive My specs: Windows 10 Pro i7-9700k Gigabyte RTX2080 2x8GB G.Skill TridentZ Asus Prime 370-A 500GB 970 EVO m.2 c:/ drive There is severall people that experiencing the same issue, but these specs are known. Simularities: Windows 10. I've done a clean install of Windows 10, issue still persists. Intel CPU. I've bought a new 9700k, issue still persists Nvidia GPU. Probablity is low, since laptop has Intel Graphics with same issue. Samsung chipped ram. I've tested each ram stick in each slot, issue still persists. (Low sample rate, 2 sticks)(Ram test had 0 errors) The motherboards Mines an ASUS, YT Laptop is Compal and YT Desktop is Gigabyte. Probability is low. (3 seperate motherboard manufacturers) I tried removing all ssd's/hdd's except boot drive. Issue still persist. While a freeze is happening task manager show no excessive usage. No 100% utilization of either ram, cpu or gpu. But file explorer.exe had high usage. I just noticed that Acer Aspire R14 uses Samsungs 960 EVO's. I do not know if the YT Desktop uses a 960/970 EVO, or if the YT Laptop is 250 or 500GB, but its beginning to look like Samsung 900 series EVO's is causing problems. Anyone want to speculate or ask questions, go ahead. Edits: I have a 970 EVO. Could not find support page for either 960 or 970 EVO's, just 970 EVO Plus.
  3. This is going to be a short post. I honestly think that instead of craving to pressure and new regulations, Apple will maintain that it's Lightning connector is the only acceptable one. In places where they will be required due to new regulations, they will probably put a USB-C to lightning connector in the box, then maybe include a lightning cable for good measure. They are going to fight this like the auto industry fought seat belts and air bags - drag it out and make a big fuss over it. What do you guys think? note: I have no idea how these regulations are worded
  4. So far it seems to make me wonder since currently not only does it have 40 CUs vs XBSX 52 CUs but also 2560 SUs vs the XBSX 3584 SUs how in the hell is it gonna be able to beat series X at 1825MHz? It most be 2250MHz or higher to even be able to reach or higer to be close to the 10.24 TFLOPS of the series X right?
  5. They cost / will cost about the same. (at least where I live) But on paper comparing ghz and cores and other known specs the ryzen 7 3800x seems better in every way. Is there any significant architectural difference that will make the ryzen 5 5600 worth it? Am I missing something? ps: I know waiting for independent reviews first would probably be a good idea, I still wanted to ask since I haven't heard anyone talking about this (yet).
  6. Nvidia announced that they're expecting their RTX 3080/3090 shortage to last well into 2021, leaving their customer boiling at their seemingly cold response to the F5 mania, and the scalping debacle. Nvidia had a practically unprecedented demand and market potential that has be stacking up since 3-5 years ago, with people holding on until that golden leap in performance finally worthy of their aged savings. And what was Nvidia's attitude? "Well, honey. Guess you gotta keep an eye out and wait. Teehee ;)" In normal circumstances, that would've been fine. They practically have the monopoly on top performing graphics cards. People have no option but to patiently wait for papa Nvidia's gracefully bestowing them the honor of paying money to get their hands on those 30 series cards. Normally, that can be a good strategy. Normally, this is a top market psychology play; you're supposed to milk their attention for maximum loyalty, bravado and clout. Where Nvidia could have possibly messed up big time? AMD's new graphic cards. Nobody expects the Radeon inquisition. Should the rumors and speculations prove to be true, this could be Team Red's biggest win in the decade. The card doesn't even need to be better than the 3080. Even if the card was slightly less powerful than the 3080 but with the same price point, they'll sweep the market. The hungry masses can't hold it any longer. Hype-man already is partially Team Red with the new Zen 3 architecture, so getting a full red-set is kinda....appealing. Once people get over the non-green tint of the card, it's practically over. 3-5 years of build up is now locked into AMD. Team Green could easily have locked up the market and sank the Radeon Armada before it was christened. Once anyone had bought the 3080, there's no reason to even lend ear to the announcement. Even if Big Navi had %10 improvement over the 3080 with comparable price, you've already had bought a graphics card. Who would switch? Why would anyone switch? The door would have been closed for 1-2 years with Nvidia's name on the plaque. But Nvidia's lack of initiative and risk-taking may have already mortally wounded their market share. The choice of controlled, but slow production line usually is a good idea. If they had produced too many, with too little demand, then it would have disastrous to have all that extra stock that can lose 50% of it's value within a year. So it's not that they were stupid, but luck favors the brave. Now the ball is in Dr. Sue's field. She can drive the proverbial stake really, really deep if she had the foresight of this and went full throttle in production. The moves have already been made, and the course of action is practically been sealed. The next 30 days should be most exciting. What do you think? What are you speculations, and are there any wild bets you'd like to make? Does what I said make sense, or are they the rambling of an armchair fool? I'd like to hear more from you.
  7. Hey guys, I've read content creators' predictions about the Nintendo Switch replacement, which everyone seems to be on the edge of their seats for, I thought it would be fun to post my own guesses for posterity's sake on what this thing will look like. Feel free to tell me I'm wrong or post your own predictions in the thread. Based on the rumors and leaks, and the current state of technology in early 2023, I think there’s a sane conclusion about what the next generation Nintendo Hardware console like. I’ve followed others' speculation closely and I’m surprised no one else has made the same points, maybe I'm way off base, in which case roast away. With the caveat that this is all speculation, here goes: The Name: Nintendo isn’t going to call it the Switch 2/Switch Pro. Why? While maintaining the product line brand name across generations worked for the Gameboy and DS, they’ve since been burned by the consumer confusion about the Wii U, and so I think they will be more cautious this time, and thus give their next-gen console a new name entirely. My prediction is the Nintendo Mix or the Nintendo Merge. (Name will be explained next) The Gimmick: I haven't seen anyone else predict a gimmick, but Nintendo has had a gimmick with the past several generations of home gaming hardware, they won’t give up having a gimmick: -GameCube: 3D gaming (never released) -Wii: Motion Controls -DS: Dual Screens -3DS: Glasses-Free 3D -Wii U: the Wii U Gamepad -Switch: docked/on the go gaming/removeable controllers I predict the gimmick for the next generation will be mixed/augmented reality. (Hence mix/merge) Why? Two reasons, (1) Nvidia advertises Orin as being optimized/useful for machine vision, and (2) the Mario Kart Live toy smelled like Nintendo testing the waters of mixed reality development. To make this happen, my bet is there will be Windows Hello/Kinect Style Cameras on both the front and back of the next-gen console. Those devices will interact with AR cards provided as a pack in with the console (like the Nintendo 3DS), and my assumption is there will be other more elaborate devices that are compatible, like Amiibo. You will be able to look at the real world through the Merge's screen and see virtual characters interact with it, through machine vision, and the AR cards. The Hardware: My guess is the Nintendo Merge will look recognizably similar to a Nintendo Switch, but with cameras added on the front and back of the device. The Joy-Cons will remain, but now with a actual camera on at least one Joy-Con as well as IR lights or retro reflectors to enable the Merge to accurately measure where the joy-cons are relative to the console. To share the mixed reality gimmick, my bet is the dock includes hardware of similar performance and spec to a Amazon HD Fire Stick, enough for low-latency 1080P gaming via a direct Wi-Fi connection between the two devices, enabling players to move the console around the room with the console's screen streamed to the TV. In this vein, I could also imagine Nintendo offering a streaming stick instead of a dock, there's just no need for the dock with a wireless connection. The joy-cons will remain, but a little more optimized for single player in terms of ergonomics compared to the Switch Joy-cons. The Merge 4K: the truth is that 1080P vs 4K doesn’t matter that much at couch distance, even more so for typical Nintendo customers. But the Press (and the nerds like those of us on this forum!) are into 4K and I could see Nintendo not wanting to get bad press for releasing a console that doesn't support 4K. There is probably currently a conflicting internal debate at Nintendo as to whether they should make the console more expensive so all devices sold support 4K, or whether they should sell 2 versions of the console at launch like Microsoft, which Nintendo seems adverse to doing. -If Nintendo can build the Merge 4K for <$350: they will, in which case there will only be *one* Nintendo Merge. My guess is that users will have the choice of plugging their Merge into their Dock to play at 4K 60 FPS or streaming the game at 1080P 60 FPS. This makes sense as the kinds of games that are best suited for wireless streaming (mixed-reality games where moving the Merge around is part of the game) are going to be less visually intensive, and the lack of 4K will not be a big deal. I mean *maybe* it’s possible to do low latency 4k 60 FPS with H.265 (Orin doesn’t support AV1 encoding), but it’s still iffy. But they more likely stream at 1080P 60 FPS (or heck 1200p-1400p or something) and then upscale that image, and all the most hardcore pixel peepers wouldn't notice. -If Nintendo can't make $350/Merge 4K work, they will sell a downcosted version that doesn't support 4K output. To make things easy for developers, the downcosted "HD" version will have the same Nvidia Orin SOC as the 4K Merge, the difference will be that the Merge HD will come with a more basic wireless streaming dongle *without* the option to plug the Switch in for 4K video, and the 4K version will come with a more advanced dock that supports 4K video. This setup also allows users to buy the $300 console now, and buy the ~$120 upgraded 4K dock later if they want to. To sweeten the deal, Nintendo might include a 4K upscaler chip to make "4K" wireless streaming practical and to better justify the price jump. Marseille, who is the best known entity who makes such a chip, has been awfully quiet for the last couple years, maybe that’s what they have been working on! Pricing and release date: My bet is it comes out in the first half of 2024. We just aren't seeing *any* leaks which indicates to me they aren't on a 2023 production timeline. In terms of pricing, if they can't sell the Merge 4K for $350, I think the lineup will look like this: $299: Nintendo Merge (no dock!) $379: Nintendo Merge + HD Stream Stick/Dock $449: Nintendo Merge 4K + Dock *later* $229-$249: Nintendo Merge Lite What * might* happen with the Merge: Hacking Wifi 7: I could see Nintendo repurposing wifi 7 chipsets, which unlike previous generations, can simultaneously transmit on 2.4, 5 and 6 ghz to transmit the video signal to the dock over 6 ghz while saving 2.4 and 5 for online connectivity. This would make wirelessly streaming 4K video at least somewhat possible. Camera Bar: to allow multi-use of the sensors, my guess is Nintendo will design some experiences around having the Merge docked front and center below the TV with clear view of the players, there may be cases where this is impractical (like you want to stash the dock behind a cabinet door like I personally do with my Switch) to fix this, I bet there will be an optional USB webcam with the same cameras that the Merge has that you can plug into the dock. Dolby Bitstream Surround Audio support, Nintendo consoles (GameCube, Wii, Wii U) used to support Dolby bitstream (compressed) surround audio, but the Switch does not support Dolby, it instead supports PCM 5.1 surround which doesn’t work over ARC or eARC. This wasn’t a big deal when the Switch was designed, back then most surround audio systems owned by people who actually cared about whether their console did surround sound had actual AV receivers, which take PCM audio from a source just fine, and the decision saved Nintendo Dolby licensing costs. But now times have changed, lots of people have surround soundbars connected to their TVs over ARC, so I could see Dolby making a comeback, either as Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 over HDMI or more likely … Dolby Atmos Backwards Dock Compatibility: I could see Nintendo allowing Merge users to reuse their existing Dock for experiences that don’t use the mixed reality functionality, or if the experience *does* use that functionality, the Merge’s Size could have it it peeking over the top of the Switch dock to make docked mixed reality experiences possible. Users would still have to buy the “Merge” Dock to play at 4K or stream wirelessly to the tv. What I don’t think will happen with the Merge: actual CPU/GPU power in the dock. Hot plugging an EGPU mid-game seems tough to avoid crashes, wirelessly streaming to another actual SOC in the dock as one cohesive experience sounds hellish to develop for and regardless it seems expensive. *Maybe* Nintendo designs the Merge to work with a future dock that supports such a thing, but my money is it won’t be available at launch. Extended Switch support: they are going to move away from the Switch *fast*, to try to get people to jump on the Merge ship Roku/Fire Stick/Apple TV streaming, while it is technically feasible to stream from the console to an app on an existing streaming stick rather than using a special stick made by Nintendo, (1) Nintendo hates working with others, (2) unless said others gave Nintendo very low level access, they would have to route the connection over the home’s wifi network rather than direct connect, which is much less reliable. Out of all predictions, this is the one I'm least confident on though, I could see Nintendo considering this trying to get out of the cost of the Stick. Interoperation with iOS or Android devices: as augmented reality objects. In theory there’s nothing stopping you from connecting your iPhone to the Merge and joining the mixed reality fun in a multiplayer gamebut in reality I don’t think Nintendo likes customers using another company’s devices so it won't happen. Better voice chat for online gaming. Nintendo designs their devices for children, and parents who are buying this for their child don’t want their child to stumble upon the Nintendo equivalent of Xbox live trash talk. My bet is the jank app system as we know it sticks around. HDMI 2.1 4K@120 hz at launch: They will save this for a mid-cycle refresh, to allow DLSS to mature enough to make this work with a 20 watt TDP (Ampere, which Orin is based on, doesn’t officially support DLSS 3, DLSS 3 or better will be necessary to hit 4K 120 fps) Gaming experiences that work on just the Dock/Stick. Even though the stick could be built with enough horsepower to run Switch games on its own with negligible marginal cost, there could be concerns about consumer confusion and cannibalization of Merge game sales that keep this from happening. Switch backward compatibility will probably exist on the Merge though. Apple Silicon instead of Orin: In some ways, this would be a good match, Apple is the world leader in high performance, low power ARM chips, Tim Cook might like the chance to smite Nvidia, but Apple doesn't need the money. *<aybe* if Nintendo committed to release some games for Apple Arcade, but it still just feels out of character for both companies.
  8. So ive been reading up on the rumours and leaks surrounding the upcoming AMD Vega cards and their placement in the market seems interesting to say the least. The top Vega card looks like it will be much better than the Titan XP or the 1080Ti which will most likely make it too expensive for the average user. The 2nd best Vega card tho, looks to be a sweet spot between the 1080 and the 1080Ti. Since 2kliksphilip has shown us how a 1080 cant truly run games at the highest possible settings in 1080p and the 1080Ti is too much but still too little for a true stable 4K experience, this Vega card seems to be the best of the bunch. It really depends on how will AMD price these cards and if they actually deliver on all these promises and trailers with big numbers. The 1080Ti seemed atleast as a good future proof piece of hardware, after a while i realized that once HBM2 and High Bandwith Cache become the industry standard in the near future, it´ll seem nearly obsolete. In conclusion, AMD might just have the next big thing on the horizon but it is not worth waiting 3months for the upgrade as the recent price drop of the 1080s place it just 100€ above the 1070 and 250-350€ under the 1080Ti´s price. I just wanted to put my thoughts into words, but tell me your opinions guys, ill be closely monitoring this thread.
  9. this is pure SPECULATION based on the information i've read/heard. Will Navi actually use the Infinity Fabric? Based on their roadmap, I have a feeling it really is the I.F. It would really be cool to have 2 smaller GPUs work as one. Should be cheaper to produce and should allow AMD to catch up to Nvidia. Hopefully Navi can fix the imbalance in the GPU market. What do you guys think? forgive me for my paint skills
  10. Greetings. About three months ago, I created a thread based on speculation for the pricing of GTX 1060 laptops (as of then, I thought they were going to be called 'GTX 1060Ms'). There were quite a few guesses, but it seems we reached a reasonable approximation of the price. As of now, the cheapest GTX 1060 laptop (not including barebones) I've found is a Clevo/Eluktronics model, which goes for about $1100 for the $15" variant and $1150 for the 17" variant. Although nobody should dispute that this is incredible value, there are some people who cannot afford to spend over a thousand dollars on a laptop, but still want reasonable gaming performance. This is illustrated by the popularity of laptops like the Dell Inspiron 7559. Despite its deal-breaking quality-control issues, it provided what was then considered excellent mid-range mobile gaming performance at an extremely affordable price of $800, with its GTX 960M. The GTX mobile 1060 appears to be the successor to the 970M, rather than the similarly-named 960M, which leads me to believe that the GTX 1050 and/or 1050 Ti in laptops will be the direct successor to the GTX 960M. The GTX 1050 Ti appears to beat the GTX 970M in benchmarks, and my guess is that the GTX 1050 comes really close- an exciting prospect for the mobile gaming market. However, I have been unable to find concrete reports on pricing for these as-of-yet unreleased laptop. When speculating upon said pricing, we also have to consider what sort of CPUs we'll see in these laptops. There doesn't seem to be a single GTX 1060 laptop out there with anything less than a Core i7 6700 HQ, likely due to the enormous CPU bottleneck anything inferior would cause. However, is it possible that a GTX 1050 would be able to manage with a cheaper CPU? Perhaps a Core i5 6300HQ or its Kabylake successor, or a dual-core Core i7 Sku? I'd be grateful to hear your thoughts and ideas, or look at any information you have to share. Regards, Aereldor.
  11. So, what do we think this one will be lads? 300? 200? dare I say 100?
  12. Hi Guys, I game mostly on my system with some casual editing/dev/system work. I want to upgrade my i7-6800K to a new beast. I want a cpu that works best at lower resolution gaming. Now should I go with the I9 ? Or wait for the 3950x to launch? What are you guys expecting from the 3950x :)? Greetings, Mat
  13. The newest resevoirs come in flat rgb ondisplay type shapes, all kinds of shapes have come to the market in fact. Pretty pleased about these! But recently ive started to wonder if there could be a smarter way of doing these builds that will fit into SFF builds natively without having to compromise on space elsewhere, ofc. this is impossible, but the idea stuck with me for a bit, and I still wonder if someone is actually doing what I am about to share, or if anyone has experimented with it as a mod, or simply just like the idea. As the title says: Dual Pump + Resevoir combo as PCI-E Expansion slot (2 panels), well that is essentially the idea, or rather the PCI-E part is the actual idea. With a bit of control circutry and some smart utilization of the possible length and balance by placing the heavy pumps closest to the panel brackets on the IO side of the expansion card mount. Theoretically this should be able to power (if not alone then add a molex or standard power connection) the pump(s) as well as share the information needed from the motherboard and BUS to provide good solid control of the loop(s). Having the resevoir in line with the Graphics Card(s) on a Midi/Full-Tower build, would line it up perfectly with the Pump Resevoir combo, for even less tubing and straight tubing. If done right, it might even be possible to put it inbetween too cards, for tight fit with a risercable, as long as the CPU loop has an access to one of the loops. It will free up more room for radiators, and air flow, or potentially allow for SFF builds with enough expansion slots to shrink in size while having 2 loops, and make room for a PSU. Ofc. its just speculation at this point for me. But If someone has made something like this i'd love to see it, or maybe Linus Tech Tips could go on a crazy workshop project like this? Either way, I hope this has inspired some one :). Personally I think my next build post University is going to be something really wild, and i wont rule out trying something like this, and I promise i'll make a video series/montage and share it with the LTT community if that is the case. What do you think of the idea of a res-pump-combo as an expansion card?
  14. What is the likely hood the only ability to use the 30 series cards with Gen 4 bandwidth on intel and not AMD anytime soon will be on the Mobile platform with Intel 11ths generation and a mobile 30 series if that materialises? I haven't seen anything about 11th gen desktop which has me concerned but also intrigued, is it more likely they simply skipped desktop or are they preparing a new desktop series beyond 11th generation for launch to get PCIE 4th Gen on Desktop?
  15. I've been having the 8d issues myself since Sept. 2019 when a Got a 3900X. Intermittent 8d on cold boots when system was Idol for a while. I've Literally tried everything under the sun to fix the issue, but nothing seemed to work. Last month I finally decided to try contacting AMD RMA! I believe the 8d Issue that so many are having is a Faulty Memory controller in the CPU from the Initial Batch that were made at Launch! After returning my CPU to AMD, they tested it and said, It "passed" inspection and they will be sending me a Replacement as soon as possible! By "Passed", I can only guess they mean it booted to the 8d the first time for them also. Anyway, the issue seems to be with the CPU, not Memory or Bios settings. Also they sent me a Brand New Retail Sealed Box 3900X for the Replacement! Very Nice since I was expecting them to just sent a Tray CPU in the Plastic Holder! LOL! So I guess if you're still having this Issue and you can spare the time to RMA it, you might get a New CPU out of it.
  16. I'm going to the military for my mandatory 8 months of enlistment. Just after I released my first game and got excited to continue... Anyways, when I get back I'll be building something like this: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LbTqNQ How do you guys think this build should be different by then? What prices might go up /down. Should I wait for 7nm finfet or 10nm (zen 2, cannon delayke). Anything you might do differently about the build? (gamedev, gaming, 3.3k budget) I'm at least hoping that RTX cards make sense by then and that PG35VQ finally comes out.
  17. I've heard of a supposed 8 core processor being available soon for the coffee lake series of motherboards (300 series), I'd like to know more about it, whether it is just a rumor, or something I might want to wait for. Currently, I have a Ryzen 5 1600 processor, and I'm looking to upgrade my entire system, and then give the current one to my brother who is still on an i5-4590. Money isn't an object, and I'd like the best gaming performance, which, if there is an 8 core version of the i7-8700k, I'd prefer that, since it would be an upgrade in core count, and clock speeds from my Ryzen system. (if its a thing)
  18. http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/nintendo-nx-leak-reveals-transforming-cartridge-running-handheld-1325423 http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-07-26-nx-is-a-portable-console-with-detachable-controllers Here is a photo from Eurogamer that speculates on the NX design: I would enjoy something like this. I also hear that Nintendo is going back to cartridges, which would be interesting with today's flash technology. Just hope it doesn't make game prices as expensive as they were in the old days ($90 for a Zelda game, anyone?)
  19. So, with Linus being able to see this card before anyone else managed to, he let us see it on YT and that is literally amazing, man o man AMD does not make their cards look special at all! To be honest though I am sort of glad about that, don't need something that fancy looking that you may not even show off to friends or other gaming pals and paying extra for literally no performance gain what so ever doesn't sell it to me really. Anyway, the card looks like a reference 370 at first glance, I am not saying these are the numbers they might provide for it, but I will be basing my thoughts off the 370, so remember this is speculating, a guess what we can maybe expect to see in a "VR" ready video card from AMD's 480. First off for me is memory, the more there is the bigger sized textures that can be handled 6-8gigs of memory would seem fitting for a VR ready card, then there is the frequency of the memory, I think I would speculate from the previous cards it wouldn't hurt to figure around 2000 MHz (8.0Gbps), a core clock of 1250mhz, would guess streaming processors to be around 3000 These numbers are pure speculation and am only guessing about the 480 until the specs are out. What do you guys think, is that too much for a $199 price tag?
  20. I wonder. If I have 2 SSD at RAID 0 and then have 1 HDD that will mirror (RAID 1) both SSDs. Is it even possible? Thanks.
  21. This is not the first time I've heard this rumor/speculation, but according to Fudzilla , there is considerable evidence that the New Fiji Graphic card coming from AMD may actually be a dual gpu card. http://www.fudzilla.com/news/graphics/37373-amd-fiji-has-two-gpus This speculation contradicts their previous article discussing HBM1 vs HBM2, where they state that HBM1 is capable of 16GB, while HBM2 doubles that at 32GB, which Nvidia Pascal may end up having. http://www.fudzilla.com/news/memory/37308-hbm-1-memory-of-amd-fiji-pictured I for one don't believe this dual card speculation is true, especially given the time since AMD's last flagship graphic card. Until it's confirmed, I'm going to assume the 390x will be a single gpu card.
  22. So there seems to be quite a lot of rumours going around about the GTX 980ti but I was wondering do you guys think that we will ever see a gtx 990? In the past the X90 series of cards have been dual cards made up of 2 of there highest end cards so do you think that there would be a 990 perhaps made up of 2 possible 980ti. Now i'm not saying this is going to happen I just want to know your guys opinion on it.
  23. Do you guys think that the 980ti will ever be a reality. I believe not but post your opinion and reasoning down bellow.
  24. Gonna provide my tech credentials before I say anything: I'm 19, been working with computers since I was 6. Only actually cracked one open two years ago, and since then, have two builds under my belt. Reason I provide the above is to point out I'm not actually an expert here, and perhaps something along these lines exists. So...Computers are an old technology, really...While I am not the largest expert in computer history, the truth is that they haven't changed much since the 70s at the minimum. All (with exceptions, I know) computers have: 1: A processing unit, which computes things in terms of 1s and 0s 2: A sheet of circuitry that everything connects to 3: Some storage medium, which agains stores things in terms of 1s and 0s, and can be found in the form of either a spinning disk or another sheet of circuitry 4: Some smaller storage medium, typically in the form of circuitry, that temporarally accesses small amounts of things in the large storage medium. If you missed it, thats a processor, motherboard, hard drive/ssd, and RAM. Obviously, GPUs and other hardware exists, but in reality, for how planet earth on the whole uses computers at the moment, those four parts are the ones that have been doing the heavy lifting for decades. There hasn't really been an update to that tech...The only updates are in terms of speed, scale, portability, and efficiency. Aside from those, has anything really truly changed in the last 40+ years? So...with that in mind...Broad concept, I know...I feel like something could replace the function of the computer within the forseeable future. So, forum full of the smartest tech people I have ever seen...thoughts?
  25. Before i start posting my theory i want to say that my "theory" is purely a speculation , and it's only somewhat viable if everything stays the same (no major wars no technical difficulties ) and everything moves smoothly. Thinking classically , for the real time brain simulation in your pocket , it would take till ~2080. But i think realistically it would take x amount of years , until we reach a manufacturing process which is smaller by a whole magnitude as of today . For example not 22nm but 22 pm (picometer). What dou you guys think , how much years do you think we need for such a computer to be in our pocket ?
