Hey all, I've recently bought a Quest 2 and there are a few features Geo Locked in my country. I use Private Internet Access for my VPN and I figured since the Quest 2 is android, I could use the PIA android app but it doesn't start the VPN connection. Either the app or the headset crashes when trying to start the VPN. Has anyone else successfully used a VPN on the Quest 2, and if so how? Thank you in advance

I was in the market for a VPN and I decided to try PIA based on LTT's sponsorship. I remembered Linus and James saying "Try it today for 30 days risk free". Well I got it with the intent of getting around Netflix geo restrictions which I did not know before hand it does not do. So not more than 30 minutes later I sent in a request for a refund. 10 days go by and I get no response. So I sent in another refund request and 10 days later still no response. I went to Paypal's website and got PIA's email to contact them directly without having to use their form. It is now 10 days later and I still have heard nothing from them and nothing has been refunded. I am now going to have to go through the hassle of going through Paypal to get my money back. I'll get my money back and I know LTT has nothing to do with this. But to say this won't influence my decision making in the future if I'm ever in the market for anything else LTT sponsors, I'm going to think twice and research elsewhere before committing. Just wanted to share my story.

Hello everyone, Recently PIA updated it's Windows Desktop Client. In the v2.10.0 Release (2021/07/22) ChangeLog one can read: Connection stats can be sent to PIA on an opt-in basis to help improve our service Inquiring using Live Chat, answers were provided by "Edwin C": - Uncheck "Help Improve PIA" check box if you don't want to provide stats, or if did already but was turned on due to update... More info is provided in the link underneath "Find out more". This post is pretty basic, but if you come across the same doubt as me, well... here you are. Take care, and take care of somebody else. I recently signed up for Private Internet Access VPN and it has been great, but i tried using it on my phone and I ran into an issue. A video series I have been watching just fine on my computer using PIA I have not been able to get working on my phone. I have the app set to the same country as my pc, but youtube still says it's not available in my country when i use my phone. Is there some step that I'm missing to make it work with android apps?

I've been using PIA for years with no issues but for whatever reason today i opened qbitorrent and was getting absolutely ATROCIOUS download speeds (kilobits). (I have a 400-450 ish megabit connection through spectrum) i ran speed test through the vpn and was getting like 2 megabit on a good run. I then closed qbitrorrent. reloaded speedtest through the vpn. ran it again. and got 300 megabit+. i then opened qbittorrent again reloaded speed test and once again got terrible speeds. tested in this fashion a few more times and got fairly consistent results. has anyone else had an issue like this? Did PIA start throttling people for torrenting? I tried asking this same question on reddit but it got immediately removed. I didnt see a rules section on the pia sub so as far as i know i didnt break any rules and i got no indication as to why it was removed. But after what I experienced from where i'm sitting this whole thing is looking super sus. Thanks in advance hope you're all having an awesome day!

17 PIA users who were using VPN to download torrents got sued in the US. PIA confirms to have a no log policy, but aparently the users registered accounts on the websites using their real email addresses. Don't forget that anonymous traffic is not the same as anonymity . Don't be dumb, and don't register stuff using your actual email. VPNs by themselves won't make you untraceable Sources https://torrentfreak.com/movie-company-sues-pirates-who-used-an-anonymous-vpn-201026/

I just received an email from PIA since I tried them out a few years ago. I didn't keep the service as Netflix didn't work and I didn't find a way to exclude streaming from the VPN but keep other traffic on the VPN. This email says that Netflix and BBC are working with Hulu and Amazon Prime getting support added soon. I did a little digging and didn't find any posts from PIA about this new support for streaming and haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else yet. Anyone else get this email or better yet have PIA and notice streaming not being blocked or working better? If PIA really did reach an agreement with streaming companies I'd be interested in signing up again to get some more protection.

I am using a Pixel 2 with Android 10 and the latest security update installed as well as browsers Chrome and Brave. I have discovered that the latest version of PIA's VPN app leaks your IPv6 address to Google's search results page. The page located me down to the cardinal direction of town I live in. It said it got my location from my internet address. I checked with ipchicken.com and I had the correct address. I checked the settings of the PIA app and there is one called "Aggressive IPv6 blocking" and says it's required for Android version below 5. I turned this on and I got the correct location for the VPN server I was connected to in the results page so that tells me Google was using my IPv6 address. PIA advertises having built in IPv6 leak protection that's always on and this has never happened to me in the 1.5 years I've been using it so something has changed recently. I e-mailed PIA about it but they seem satisfied that enabling aggressive IPv6 blocking fixed my issue and brushed me away despite an untold number of users who think their IPv6 address is safe with that setting off which implies it's only needed for versions of Android below 5 I checked both Chrome and Brave and both have me the same result. How does it look for y'all?

I have such issue. Thought it's just me, but today found another person with the same issue. Does anyone else experience it? Any solutions? Using pia's ovpn profiles on networkmanager on arch linux. Running it 24/7. NM tells me that authentication failed. Usually happens every 1-2 days at night ~1-2am gmt+0, but also happens at other times. Could be the network, but my own ovpn server connection (previously main, now backup) stays connected. Set up ping with 5s interval, but that did not help much besides fix another issue with random connection drops (it reconnected after 30-60s before, now almost instant).

I'm trying to access qBittorrent's web UI from another PC on the same network, but qBittorrent is running inside a Linux VM, so it doesn't just work like it normally would. It's something to do with how the network works inside the VM, and I'm trying to access the web UI from a PC outside of the VM. I'm guessing it's something to do with port forwarding/proxy? Here's some numbers. HOST: Windows 10 Home (1903) VIRTUALMACHINE: Oracle VirtualBox (6.1.4 r136177) VM OS: Lubuntu (18.04) Running qBittorrent (v.4.0.3) AND PIA VPN (v.1.8) Trying to access the web UI from another PC on my home network doesn't work as you can see on the right side of the photo. Whereas it works as expected within the VM on the left. Anyone know how to get this working? (I don't need it to be remote, just simply want to access it when I'm at home).

Recently, I reformatted my PC using the inbuilt Windows thing. I disconnected my other drives before doing so. Postwhich, I reinstalled Chrome and Downloaded the PIA application, run it with a right-click and Run as Admin. Standard darkened screen and yes-no option later, a window opens and closes immediately, then nothing. What can i do to remedy this? p.s. might be unrelated, but I can never seem to get my valley or heaven running again due to the msvcpdll file missing or something. Not as big issue, and tried reinstalling all manner of C++ for Windows again but not much works.

So people, I need your input. I currently have a 100/100 Mbit internet connection through a Netgear Nighthawk R700 and I'm running Private Interenss Access as my VPN of choice on my devices. But I'm having some issues. 1) my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 won't play nice with my smart home devices and my Google Chromecast when I run my VPN on it. 2) I reasently bought a laptop with a Ryzen 2300 CPU and a dedikated vega 5 graphic card - I thought this would be more then enought power to run photoshop, lightroom and adope premiere (1080P and 4K photages) - but wow I was wrong, there is great latency that I cant deal with. So my plan is to use my VPN to be able to connect my laptop to my much faster stationair PC at home. 3) I want to be able to run higher protection on my connection, without losing to much power (AES 256 / SHA256 + handshake RSA-4096). It seems that my older NightHawk, is not up for that task, so I'm thinking of making my own router / NAS server. Now this is very new to me, but I kniow that I need enought power to be able to run my encryptions and to do in real time transcoding of videos for plex in 1080P. This while trying to keep power consumption and heat to a minumum, while also keeping it cheap. So I'm currently looking at a second hand parts and thinking of going with a dell precision T1700 xeon e3-1246V3 with: CPU: - Intel Xeon E3 - 1225V3 @ 3.20GHz RAM: 8 GB DDR 4 HDD 1TB (gonna upgrate with 2 X wd red 2 tb in raid zero. Software: linux with freenas, plex and PIA installed. Do you think it will be a great setup that can handle, and will fit my needs? I've build PCs before but never a server.

Source: https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/blog/2019/08/private-internet-access-users-can-now-resolve-internet-names-with-the-handshake-naming-system-hns/ I've never posted on the forums here before so I hope I'm doing this right. I thought this would make for a good WAN show topic or sponsored video idea and I thought if any of you don't already have a VPN, maybe this will convince you to finally make it seem worth it to you. PIA has introduced a blockchain-based system that assigns easy to remember names to ip addresses that it calls Handshake Naming System or HNS or Handshake for short. This is meant to replace the corporate-owned Domain Naming System, or DNS. PIA says: In the whitepaper, Handshake is further described as:

I had a question about Vpns and correct use of them. If I'm using a VPN on my phone and my pc is connected to the internet through my phone. Do I need run my con on pc?

Private internet access is a VPN, well then can anyone please tell me how the government detected what I was doing on my PC while I was connected to PIA. As you can see from the attached image, they detected what I was doing. so a VPN that sponsors Linus isn't so VPN is it? I posted this here due to PIA's own forum not taking posts at the moment, when that is back up and running I will do.

I have a pretty simple question that I can't seem to find a straight answer for. Is it worth or even safe to use the 1.1.1.1 DNS with PIA's VPN?

This Friday Linus will be taking part in a recorded conversation with executives from Private Internet Access and Kape Technologies about their recent merger, which was announced late last year. We saw that our community had a number of questions about what that means for the future of PIA, and we want to get answers for you, directly from the source. If you have any questions or comments about the future of PIA and our relationship with them, please list them below, and we'll do our best to get some answers during that conversation. Feedback & direction from our community will be the primary factor that we consider when determining the potential future of our partnership with PIA/Kape, or any other VPN provider. Thanks for your contributions here!

Via: https://www.techradar.com/news/cyberghost-owner-buys-pia-for-dollar955m-to-create-vpn-giant Seems like its not only an acquisition of a major VPN provider, but also the brand name it offer for further expansion into the VPN market So its a fairly sizable ammount of money being exchanged. Kape is on the road to become a fairly large VPN player if this trend continues. Hopefully this was communicated well the the companies PIA sponsored, or else we might see a end of PIA being a sponsor at LTT. the same way the infamous Tunnelbear got aquired by McAfee ended relations between them and Linus Mediagroup. with the building of very major VPN providers i certainly hope they stay true to the privacy statements and dont start doing datacollection to fund their endeavours Credit to @Arika S for the extra details regarding past aquisitions and conflict of interests

Wasn't entirely sure where to post this but what's going on with this video? It's obviously a clip from WAN show and the thumb nail feels like a ltt video, but the "full video" link in the description sends you to a PIA ad? The channel that posted it is called LMG Clips. Is this an actual part of LMG? I know they've been talking about getting a statement from PIA or something before moving forward with them but this doesn't exactly feel like that. I could be wrong tho... Video Link: https://youtu.be/uC-i4D2VeaA

Tunnel bard had a trial and i was "this" close to getting it before it got bought out by McAfee, in regards to what's happened over in India (India becomes a surveillance state; Modi govt authorises agencies to snoop on citizens) but i really want to try it out before getting it, every VPN in some capacity offers a trial before purchase, as part of LTT sponsored product, they should atleast give a day of Trial to make up decision for LTT forum members i know its possible as other companies have these offers associated with PIA for example @LinusTech @nicklmg @CPotter @GabenJr

Anyone know how to route a plex server through a PIA VPN through OpenVPN on PFsense machine? I want to access my server remotely and port forwarding is a nightmare I using NL servers which according to the PIA servers are set up for auto forwarding. I really don't wanna modify script to make it work I figure.

I started using PIA after seeing it on the youtube channel and everyone else was always saying that they are very important to have. The app doesnt run on my phone (android) and just causes my internet to not work so I havent been running it. Why do I continue to see ads for products I've researched on my pc? I thought that this was supposed to stop that.
