It keeps saying can't reach default gateway. I tried every single method on youtube, still no luck. Even bought my self new dongle still the same. This problem only happens on my pc. Other devices connect just fine.

Hey, I’m trying to boost our signal from the main house to another building. Currently the main house has the BT smart hub router and I have a TPlink extender in the other building but the wifi signal is terrible because its too far away. So I plan to run a cat6 ethernet cable round the house and into the 2nd building. But do I need to connect the cable into another router or just a extender. My current extender only has 1 ethernet port which isn’t any good as I would like to be able to be hard wired into my pc as well so I need some suggestions as to what to buy so I can do that, thank you

I'll be moving to the UK soon and the maximum speed I'm currently offered at the place I'll likely be staying appears to be a whopping 7.8 Mbps down and up in the single decimals as it stands now. I've been told Sky is planning to hook up fiber "[probably] within a year", but since I'm only there for two years initially that is quite a long uncertain period. To that extent, I was wondering what people's experiences are with Starlink? The agency is trying to convince me with "but this offer is a guaranteed minimum speed of 3.4, starlink is whatever and whenever they feel like", the supposedly future fiber being connected and stuff like that, but it's an 18 month minimum contract and it sounds a bit salespersony to be honest. It is a bit expensive at 75 GBP per month (ignoring initial purchase costs), but I'm hoping it beats the 7 Mbps for 35 GBP per month or worse... Any other suggestions are of course also welcome.

I’ve had my pc for years now. About a year ago, I thought my onboard wifi stopped working so I’ve been using an Ethernet cable. I finally got sick of running it from my room to the router whenever I wanted to game and wanted an upgrade anyways so got a new mobo with a tp link wifi card. I finished putting everything together and had one monitor plugged in, ran a Speedtest and was getting 400mbs download. So I hook it up to the rest of my setup and I get no internet. I then realized if I only have one monitor plugged in it’s fine, regardless of hdmi or display port, but once I plug it a second, it goes out. I know it’s not an issue with the wifi card (txe72e) or graphics card (3070ti) but no clue what’s happening. I read it could be some kind of antenna interference issue, but why would work it work fine with one cable plugged in, and not the others?

I live in house from the 1960's in Sweden and we only have old coax into the house. Our ISP (Tele2) gave us this old Sagemcom C2 router that really is a nightmare: every settings is for some reason locked down so you can't change any of the settings, it's running an old outdated software version and you can't update it, it runs really hot for some reason, we pay for 300 Mbit/s but only get ≈100 Mbit/s etc. Our ISP tells us it is supposed to be this way with this router and that everything is fine. Is anyone aware of a modern router that has a coax input? The outlet. The cable. The router.

Why is my Internet speed halved via Port Bridged Modem/Router
Omega7ven posted a topic in Networking
I hope I am in the right chat/forum for this. I recently upgraded my Internet to Telus Purefibre 1GB. When I use the Ookla speed test when connected to my Telus Modem direct from my PC, I get close to 1GB up and down. But when I go through my router (ASUS RT-AC68U) via Port 1 on my Telus Modem and it is set to Port Bridging enabled, I only get about half the speed both up and down? I have some basic to medium understanding the technology and this is my first time on this or any type of forum but would appreciate help to understand why and how to try to get the answer to this issue. -
Hi, we have always had trouble connecting any home devices that only uses 2.4ghz wifi to our network. Particularly our nanoleafs and roborock S8 vaccuum. It takes like 100 tries before we can get it to connect and even then it's sometimes a buggy experience. We are using the default Xfinity router which has been fine and realiable for everything else in our apartment but I don't know how to make something just try to connect to the 2.4 ghz network. Today our roborock lost connection and I can't get it back online. I tried splitting our 2.4 and 5ghz signals to separate wifis and it won't connect to the 2.4. seems like it wants to do it through my phone which will only accept the 5 ghz network. Even though I would consider myself very knowledgeable about computers my knowledge of all things Internet is very limited. Is there something special I need to do or is this just a limitations of the Xfinity router? The home devices are in the same room as the router.

Hi, I lately have been downloading stuff from mediafire and noticed a "Turbo-Downloader" option, I turned it on and BAM, 950MB (Mega Bytes not Bits!!) in less than a minute. The crazy part is that my bandwith is just 100MBit so like 12.5MB. After it got to me I checked in here to ask you guys if any one has a understanding of how this is possible, and if anyone would be willing to explain this as it made me curious as heck to get this questionmark out of my brain.

Hi everyone! I've been encountering a strange issue with my pc, and I thought it might be because I used Wi-Fi, but now I'm using Ethernet and encounter the same issue. the problem is that downloading things is quite slow on my computer, usually around 10mbs. I have 250mb/s internet, and it shows in every other device in my house. My laptop gets great speed, my steam deck gets great speed, but my main pc doesn't. I don't think it is a processing issue because I have a 10850K, and it's probably not an HDD issue because I see the same thing on my SSD.

My computer will randomly lose internet connection progressively on ONE computer. What I mean by this is that it'll lose certain connectivity features, without losing others. For example, when it happens I can keep watching the youtube video I have pulled up (and it will continue to buffer past its current buffer point), but I can not load any new web pages. Additionally, I will suddenly no longer be able to send any discord messages, or pull up a discord server not already pulled up, but I can continue to receive messages on my current discord server. I can even see the messages I send from my phone on the same discord server, but again, any attempts to send messages from this computer just error out when sending. On steam I will still be able to send and receive messages correctly, additionally I can continue playing MMO/online games at this point without issue (but again, can't load any new web pages anywhere) - after a little while longer, then I lose all connection, including current youtube videos will hit the end of their buffer and not continue loading buffer, discord will disconnect me, and I'll lose connection to whatever game I'm playing. Something this issue will resolve itself over several hours. Alternatively, rebooting my computer immediately restores the connection. Rebooting the router also immediately restores the connection. Or I can go into advanced network settings, disable the network adapter, enable the network adapter, and that restores the connection (though the connection appears to drop again quicker this last way compared to rebooting the PC). Originally this issue was happening on wifi, so I ran a brand new ethernet cord to the PC, but the issue was identical. Furthermore, none of the other devices, including 4 other computers have this issue on this network, it is only this computer. This is an issue I've been having for several months, but its been getting progressively worse/more frequent over time. Originally it wouldn't even disconnect fully - it would only go into the state of not sending discord messages, and not loading new webpages, but could still play games and watch video content of youtube/streaming services already pulled up. The complete connection loss (discord disconnects fully, can't play multiplayer games, etc) is a recent development within the past month or so. This computer is quite robust. its a 4090 and an i9 13900k both on a shared custom loop that I did myself. The motherboard is a gigabyte Z790 aorus master. Windows 11 is on a 980pro. For the first 6 months or so of this PC being complete, there were no network issues. The first network issues began immediately after 1 event. 1) Comcast switching the entire neighborhood over from the old wires to the new fiber system. A lot of other individuals in the neighborhood reported starting having issues around this point too. - Though since it is ONLY this PC and none of the other PCs or devices on the network, I'm not sure how it could be related. I've updated the bios 3 different times since this issue first began (three different bio revisions, that's how long this issue has been going), I've updated windows at least a dozen times. I've updated all drivers I could find, including downloading the Killer wireless utility (this was back when the issue was on wifi, before I ran an ethernet line), the ethernet adapter is a different brand though, but again the issue is the same. I've even tried connecting to a different router (I have two different routers ran to the modem). Nothing at all puts a dent into this issue. Sometimes the issue appears after several hours of using the computer, sometimes the issue appears after just a few minutes since the last restart. I really don't want to have to reinstall windows, because basically none of my programs are on my C drive where windows keeps them active, they're all on different drives. I've successfully tweaked and fixed issues in registry before, but it was never network related. I'd be more inclined to go this route if anyone thinks it could potentially be a fix without doing a completely clean Windows install that'll take several days straight to fix all my programs again. Please I'll gladly take any help from anyone who actually reads this and recommends something that I haven't already explicitly stated I've done.

I was playing Lethal Company with one friend and the non host would often disconnect. This error happened less when I was hosting. Is this more likely to be a problem with my internet or their pc? (assume my internet is equally as bad as their pc)

Hello, I've been having internet connectivity issues with my main pc (amd cpu, windows 10) for a while now and I cannot figure out why. Thought it was the WiFi card (Archer TXE72E), but when testing on separate desktop (intel cpu, windows 11) the card performed significantly better than my main. For example, I have a wpa3 WiFi connection that my main pc cannot connect to when using the WiFi card, but my second pc can with 0 issue when using the same WiFi card. Usually when the main pc tries to connect to the wpa3 connection it will either connect and have no access to the internet, or the WiFi on my pc will seemingly restart. I think it is specifically the main pc itself as I bought the Archer TXE72E to replace the previous TP Link WiFi card it was using because I was having the same issues with that one. If anyone has any advice on this that would be appreciated!

Im having a strange issue on a 15GB modded mc server hosted by GPortal. Ive seen other people have the same issue but haven't found solutions other than to call ISP. If that's what I have to do, I will. So basically I can play for hours with no issues at all. But every time a specific person joins my ping shoots up to 120-140 and makes the game unplayable for me. As soon as he disconnects, my ping normalizes back at the average 21ms I get on this server. Everyone else in the server is perfectly fine when he joins, only I'm affected. We all live within walking distance to each other and we all have AT&T, although I have fiber and they do not. I get 947Mbps down, and 945Mbps up. Ive never lagged on any game since switching to fiber until now, but I feel like something strange is going on. What steps should I take to fix this? Then I turned on my VPN and hop 13 (5.188.123.193) went down to 43ms 43ms 40ms, and my overall ping dropped from 136 to 27 when my VPN was on. If any further information is needed, just let me know

I'm currently getting around 90mbps on wifi and I'm tired of having 1/5 of the potential speeds on my pc. It kind of essential to have a strong connection when people like me are gaming a lot, downloading stuff. I have bought a TP-link 717 powerline adapter which worked brilliantly when i had the 74 Mbps package but i upgraded recently to 500 and it seems to peak at a speed of 110 mbps. I need some help figuring out how to be able to have low ping and better speeds for downloading games. The big problem is that my router is across the house and it cant be moved, and cant drill any holes. TLDR: -im on wifi (90mbps) -want to get low ping + higher speeds -cant get ethernet

So I am considering buying a new router since the one I got from my ISP can only do wifi and have a little switch connected for wired. The problem is that my pc when connected to the switch can't find devices connected to the router via wifi. So I wanted to get a router that has wifi and a few lan ports instead of having the router and switch seperate. From the ISP I got this: https://eyenetworks.no/en/air-4920-product-information/ and the switch looks exactly like this just smaller (could not find the exact same) https://eu.dlink.com/uk/en/products/dgs-1008d-8-port-10-100-1000mbps-gigabit-switch So I am not really sure what price point I would be looking at. I could maybe throw 50 dollars on a router and be more happy with it than what I have now or maybe I would need to spend a lot more? I have only ever had the standard routers I got from my ISP. I had considered wanting to use my quest 2 headset with oculus airlink but I am not sure if any router would do or if I had to buy something more expensive like a "Asus rt-ax86u" for example? I play games on pc that is always wired, my ps5 use wifi and is in the same room as the router, and then I use my smart tv that is upstairs that is in the room right above the router. So it isn't a huge house or anything. I hope that someone will be able to give som suggestions or information. Cause I am not sure what exactly I am looking for or what price point I need to look at to get what I just explained?

Ran into a snag when setting up my home network. Thought I could extend my network coverage by setting up two access points on the RAX50 router (using 2 RAX35s). Was able to set up one of the RAX35s but when setting up the second one it would always fail. I was told by support that the RAX50 can only handle 1 WAP when it’s connected directly into it. If I use a small managed switch as a “middle man” between the RAX 50/ and the RaX 35s will I be able to set up the network as I was originally planning to? I ordered this managed switch to accomplish this NETGEAR 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Plus Switch (GS105Ev2) - Managed, Desktop or Wall Mount, and Limited Lifetime Protection https://a.co/d/5PsefJw My question is will this work or will I run into the same issue as before?

I live in an old house built in the 1960 in Stockholm, Sweden. The house doesn't have fibre internet installed and instead uses the old TV-cable (coax) in the ground for networking. The area is "K-märkt" (rough translation from Cambridge Dictionary: "to designate as a cultural heritage site that warrants special protection and preservation"). This means that we won't be able to install fiber/newer internet cables in the near future, and I'm stuck with paying $30 USD per month for 100 Mbit/s and using and old coax router. On the roof of the tower block right next to my house they recently installed brand new 5G antennas, which means I get about 600 Mbit/s over cellular when using my phone... We are 4 people in my household, each with their own phone, tablet and computer, no one is gaming but we stream a lot of 4K videos/movies.

Hello everyone, so I just moved houses and the only two providers told me that in this area the network is too crowded and could take some months (if ever) for a line to be available and even then the speed would be quite bad because the the are no fibers installed near where we live. The solution both providers offered was a sim card with unlimited data for 30€ a month but I will have to get the router for the sim myself. With my phone on 4G+ the speed flactuates between 20 and 80 Mbps through the day with a median of 30-40. On 5G I usually get slower speeds than that... So my question is, should I get a router that's just 4G or 4G+? Considering the speed is already low would the 4G+ router be redundant or do you think that because I get said speeds with 4G+ on my phone the router with just 4G would be even slower? The reason I'm asking of course is because the 4G+ routers from TP Link (like the MR600) are twice the price from the 4G ones (like the MR6400) and I don't want to invest in equipment that the network may not be about to utilize, hence not even considering a 5G router. If I'm gonna have shitty internet I don't need to overpay for it too...

I have a laptop that does not have an Ethernet input, but I have a stationary computer, can I connect the laptop to the computer via USB and thus have Internet access via a cable?

So I moved to a fiber optic internet provider, and the ping is good (70–80 ping), so since I haven't bought an HDD, the only game I can actually play is Roblox, but it's been a month since I got randomly disconnected (error 277) for no reason; my ping will freeze, then it will disconnect me. I asked some friends that have this internet provider, and they said the same thing: they get this kind of issue, so I asked some redditors, and they recommended either getting a VPN or getting a 3rd party router, and I have no idea which of the two would actually work. Any idea what I should do first?

Hello! I'm having a problem and I can't find any old topics that'd help. My PC was connected straight to a fiber optical router (Halny HL-4GMV4) via cable and I recieved 40-50MB/s of download speed (which is what the internet provider is promising) and all was well. Then I moved to another room in my house. An old router was connected here already through the attic (via cable of course) but I knew it'd be too slow so I changed it to something newer (TP-LINK Archer C6) which promised 1GB/s download speeds but all I'm getting is... 10MB/s download speed now once I connected it to my PC. As far as I'm aware (if my provider would provide me that much speed) I could even be getting up to 100MB/s in theory. 10MB/s isn't bad, it's just less than I expected. The cable connection goes from the LAN port of my Fiber Router straight into the WAN port of my new router. Then from the new router to my PC. My question is: Where did I mess up for my internet speed to be lowered like this? Is this a connection issue/router setting issue or maybe I got something else than promised? I'd appreciate any help you could give me. A (hopefully) helpful diagram is located below for y'all.
