So maybe this is because of me messing around too much as a power user or something to do with Windows 11. I have these coloured accent bars on the top of my taskbar and around .EXE programs only. I do like to debloat the system a little bit but that mostly is clicking uninstall and A LITTLE BIT OF POWERSHELL. I used to be very serious about it but now I'm more relaxed with it. In my time of debloating I've never seen something like this, this didn't happen in Windows 10.

My PC’s Windows Explorer suddenly stoped working. It keeps resetting over and over again, and I can’t press start or anything. I also saw these weird things in the task manager, and it’s been preventing me from logging out or shot thing down. What is the meaning of this?
-
Hello, so I have had this weird problem where I boot my computer, (this only happens at random) but I boot, windows launches pretty quick, but I dont see the bios screen (which i usually do when i boot) and i see that my windows profile pictute is blank. When I get in, I cannot open file explorer at all or if I do it'll take any time to open and it wont show me all my documents, i cant access my HDD or SSD or anything its literally just a blank, very slow booting, flie explorer. I also cant open anything on the task bar like notifications, start button wont even bring up the start apps, but I can use my computer, like google, be in a meeting, watch videos, what not. Its just kind of frustrating because I think I am able to go play a game but It wont let me because obviously i cant acess any folders, causing me to restart the computer, most likely booting it correctly. I've seen like a weird hdd or something that says boot manager? is that my issue? do i delete it? what should i even do, i am currently in class and its on this weird boot that i cant open file explorer or just yes that problem. Its really weird, I dont know whats causing it. I took a screenshot of what my file explorer looks like, and i cant even open the screenshots folder, in order to do so i must restart the pc and share it afterwards.

Apologies in advanced, I'm hoping I'm asking in the right place. Here's what I got. I received a large file with of a couple years worth of time-lapses from my dad for a work thing he is doing. He asked me if I could remove every video that is recorded on either a Sunday or Saturday. Either me or Windows 10 is dumb because using file explorers advanced search tools I could find a way to make this specific kind of search. The video names are just numbered but the date modified are all accurate to the day recorded. I read that you could plug "created:saturday" into the search engine but this turned out to be false in my efforts. Is there any way to get file explore to isolate by day of the week? If there isn't as I suspect, does anyone know of any reliable programs I can use to do this task?

Ever since I added the m.2 drive my computer has been having storage issues. For instance, when I create a new folder, I often need to refresh the explorer window in order to see the folder there. I also often need to refresh the window if I am moving files around as well. My issues extend past just explorer, as when I open blender, it hangs for about 30 seconds before it loads up fine (it didn't do this before). It seems like any program that needs to open the explorer window (choosing a file to open or a place to save a file as an example) has a chance of just hanging from anywhere between 5 to 30 seconds. Each program seems to hang only once per launch. I don't know if it's related or not, but my desktop background quite often turns completely black and glitches out. I did upgrade the BIOS, but the problem didn't go away. I know that when a m.2 is plugged in, one of the SATA ports on my MB is disabled, and I'm not using that one. I did try unplugging the other SSD I have installed, and the issue seemed to mostly go away; Blender froze for a second or so. As far as I can tell, this doesn't effect the drive being read too/from on an OS level. Exe's still start up snappily, boot times are fast, and I don't notice any OS hangs. It seems to just be windows explorer/things related to it. I figure I can loose one of the drives to remove the problem, but I would like to have both extra drives installed. Thank you for the help! My specs are: Windows 10 Home 64 bit version 20H2 MSI Z370-A PRO (BIOS version 2020-06-10, 2nd most recent) Intel i7-8700K non overclocked 2x8 GB G.Skill Ripjaws V Series DDR4-2133 MSI GTX 1070 TI 8GB AERO Samsung 970 EVO NVMe SSD 1TB (boot drive) Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM (storage drive) Samsung 860 EVO 2.5" SSD 500GB (storage drive) SeaSonic G 550W 80+ Gold Elgato HD60 Pro (PCI-E capture card)

Hey everyone basically when my device starts up I can not click anything. Both the taskbar and desktop is unresponsive in a way where they won’t I tract with the mouse. When the mouse hovers over them nothing happens they don’t become highlighted. To fix this I just hit the windows key on my keyboard and then I am able to access the taskbar and start menu. And as long as I am focused on a window from then on there’s no issue. But the moment I click on the desktop or try to click any icons on the dekstop it reverts back.

So I got windows explorer pinned to my task bar, and whenever I open it, it opens the quick access window. Is there a way to redirect this to another directory? I want this done because some times quick access gets bugged and when I open an explorer tab from taskbar, the window goes not responding and its a pain in the ass. I did some searching and all I found was methods to disable quick access completely and I dont want it done that way.

So far my Win10 experience has been pretty good... Once I got cortana out of my sight and disabling the easy snooping stuff I was largely able to ignore all the horrible things MS is doing regarding privacy because lazy. Today, I opened up Windows Explorer, because I have files I want to get to unharassed and I see an ad for Office 365 with OneDrive. Embedded into the Explorer window (screenshot attached). What. The. Hell. So I am going to be looking into the Win 9.5 instructions with the recent LTT video, but I am just wondering if anyone else is seeing this kind of advertisement and if there's any steps over what was covered in "Win 9.5" to ensure MS's greedy meathooks stay the heck off my screen.

Hello. I recently changed all my hardware into a new case. It all went amazing and I also upgraded my stock CPU cooler to a Kraken x42. The problems that occured after I booted up is that my SSD's are multiplied in the explorer as USB Devices. I've also gotten the "Its safe to remove your usb" thingy. Is there any way to fix this? Does anyone else have this problem?

Noob here. Managed to tangle "This PC" folders pretty bad while trying to move their location to my HDD(C:) from SSD(C:). I have 2 Video folders, none of which opens. "Location is not available". My Documents folder is named D:\ and is a direct shortcut to the HDD, while it displays the typical Documents icon. Going in to properties doesn't help since it recognizes the folder as HDD shortcut, and takes me to the HDD's properties. Under C:/users/myname there are a couple of files missing. Documents, contacts and desktop. Not sure on how to get them back.

Since yesterday it´s absolutly impossible to use the Explorer. I had the problem a few days before too, but it went away after a simple restart. So i tried this today but it´s no use. After startup the explorer is fast (normal speed I am used to) for about 10 seconds, and then it begins to lag. I deinstalled the newest Update (KB3197954) from a few days ago but there is no difference. So i tried the 2nd (KB3199986) one , but it´s impossible because selecting it takes about 1 min. and after a right click on it the "deinstall" button doesn´t show up, even after 10 min. Windows like Task Manager or the unpack window from Winrar are empty for about 1-2 min., only the frame shows up and when I move the windows I have the typical Windows XP window glitch/drag we all know. Windows Defender has problems too. It´s slow AF and selecting a thing takes 2-3 min also. (I made a quick scan with it, no problem found) Other programms run as smooth as before, Firefox etc. Please help.

This has only just started up for some reason and i have done BIOS updates etc and nothing fixes. about once or twice every week the PC will suddenly slow down and program will stop working (SFM not opening files then explorer stuck on 'working on it...') if i restart the PC i just get the windows 10 spinning circle saying restart for 2 minutes then once the bios comes up he has to think about where to boot, but there is only one boot drive. once it finds windows, it sits there for 5 more minutes just spinning then everything comes up and starts working as if nothing happened. this is getting really annoying and i have tried doing BIOS updates through the GIGABYTE app centre and the Intel Driver utility for other drivers and even just windows updates but nothing fixes the problem. one thing i did notice is that windows for some odd reason thinks it is Enterprise not Pro. if you need spec, this is what is off the top of my head: Z170-XP-SLI GIGABYTE motherboard 2x8GB DDR4 2400MHz corsair vengence Intel core i5 6600 (non K) GTX 1060 6GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD (Boot drive) 850W corsair PSU i have done i post before where for some reason the CPU was bottle-necking the GPU in Overwatch which is not right. could my CPU also be doing this bizarre occurrence of suddenly slowing down? Thanks LTT forum members

No matter how many times I set and unset Visual Studio 2019 as my default program for .sln files, it still uses the icon from Visual Studio C# 2010 Express. I use 2010 Express when marking for a course to ensure that my version of VS is the same as what the students use, just in case, but VS 2019 for my own use. This pictures shows what I mean. You can see that, circled (or, boxed, I guess?), .suo files have behaved normally since installing VS 2019. I've tried clearing my IconCache, but to no avail.

I recently bought a second hand computer from 2008 for $40 (win 10 pro) for casual tasks (youtube, python, emails, etc.) and first problem the file explorer wont show up in the start menu or a cortana search (though is still there because I can access it from a folder on my desktop), and secondly chrome will not stay pinned to task bar between shutdowns but my other apps will. I am on windows 10 pro 15063.1387 (updating in a day or to) Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello, Do someone know how to fix an issue: Windows 10 is freshly installed When I mount an external drive or a virtual drive as "Z:\", drive does not show up in windows explorer. Still I can see the drive in Double commander, for example. I can access the drive via Windows Explorer by typing "Z:\" If the same drive is mounted with another letter ("Y:\", "N:\", etc.), this disk appear in Windows Explorer, no issue there.

QTTabBar is a neat open-source program to create tabs in windows explorer, its free, but a little confusing to use. INSTALLATION * install version 1038 http://qttabbar.wdfiles.com/local--files/qttabbar/QTTabBar_1038.zip then update to version 1039 http://qttabbar.wdfiles.com/local--files/qttabbar/UpdateQTTabBar1039.zip additionally you can use my configuration wich fixes my gripes with the software: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/kristiansja/QTTabBar-Config/master/QTTabBarConfig-2019-3-19.xml This cleans it up a bit and adds CTRL+T to open a new tab in "This PC". It can be changed from the "groups" tab My config: HOW TO INSTALL MY CONFIG:

Hello, I recently posted a similar thread but couldn't get enough valuable response so I'm posting again with more specifics. (People suggesting repairing registry errors, cleaning shit, running cmd commands to fix something and similar things PLEASE STAY AWAY!) So as I clearly put the above note I hope you acknowledge that I've done almost every possible trick (no errors on my storage drive too) to avoid this error but none helped me and it's terribly disgusting to watch my explorer die everytime I open some specific music folders containing OPUS files. I am also linking a self-explanatory screen recording (below) rather than writing on and on to explain you the symptoms. Please please please, it's my kind-hearted request in front of you experts to please solve my problem. I'm running a Windows 10 RS5 with all the updates till date. Waiting... Hi there! I'm looking for a plugin for Windows Explorer that won't give my computer the flu! Normally I'd use something like Windirstat but I was just wondering if anyone knew of something that may work with Windows. I'm guessing the OS does not support this out the box becaue its probably quite intensive for everytime that you start up file explorer but something that you can toggle on or off surely would be useful! All help appreciated and Mods, if I'm in the wrong forum for this thread, please feel free to move me! :D Thanks!

I have automatic updates on my windows 10 pro. It has installed windows 10 1803 and I want to update it with windows 10 1809. For that, I have tried "windows update assist" and "media creation tool", USB flash drive, ISO file etc. But didn`t updated. After a soft restart at the starting "Undoing the changes"?. So I tried to delete the last update by booting into "safe mode", but I realised that after starting the safe mode the explorer.exe was crashing. I was only able to open windows settings (not control panel) by pressing "windows key + i". I also tried to run from run.exe by pressing "windows key + r" it also crashes randomly and if it works it is not opening the "control panel"? The PowerShell option is also used but not working for me. The explorer.exe working fine in normal mode. So pl guide me what should I do???

I didn't notice when exactly this happened but it is probably just this week. To describe the problem sometimes when I make a new tab (mostly when I make an incognito tab from non-incognito chrome), when I maximize a tab/window (including file explorer but I have not used any other app in my use case to show it's a universal problem), and when I open file explorer from the task bar. The white space is non responsive and is treated as if the address bar (or whatever should be there normally) does not exist. For example, in the photo included if I click on the space where the close button should be, it would not close the incognito window but instead it would register as if I pressed the close button on the window behind it (in this case non-incognito chrome). I haven't tried anything yet besides restarting the system, I have not installed any software in the week prior. And what I do right now is double press F11 to go to fullscreen and then back out which restores it. (although this workaround doesn't work with file explorer, in which case I had to restart).
