Just made an account to ask this question. I recently upgraded my graphics card to a 4090, and it's been working like a dream. I even got a 12-pin GPU cable from CableMod. I heard about the recall on one of their other products, but since I have the cable itself (it replaces my PSU cables and cost me a fortune) I figured I was okay. When I first attempted to install the 4090, I realized it was a CHONK. I tried to give my cable enough breathing room to straighten out near the plug. The only part of the cable that bends is the cable itself, the plug itself doesn't seem to react at all when I put the glass on. You can see that it does curve down a bit, and the images are a little misleading since they're taken diagonally which makes it seem further out than it actually is. Image(8) actually shows the one spot it actually touches. Image(7) shows that all the pins are unmoved and still plugged in and there is no gap in between, I made sure it was all connected. I spoke with some people, and they said that my cable was pretty bent, and they recommended me get a vertical mount. I use a Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL and gave me this link for me to reference: UNIVERSAL 4- SLOTS VERTICAL GPU KIT (WITH GEN 4 RISER) – LIAN LI is a Leading Provider of PC Cases | Computer Cases (lian-li.com) Personally, I don't know how reliable vertical mounts can be, or how reliable the Lian Li mount is. I love their fans, they're very pretty, but I never put too much thought in a vertical mount. I have not seen any issues with my 4090 while its been like this, however I would rather get some more input before making a decision that would ultimately affect my entire computer. Like I said, I tried to give my GPU cables as much room as possible, and although it's bent a bit, the plug is secure and there is no gap that I can see (I have perfect vision btw). What should I do? Should I do anything at all?

It all started when I kinda stupidly decided to build a new white rig from scratch with the cleanest possible look. Originally I was running a Vision 3080 which is a pretty nice white card and had two lovely 8 pin connectors, nice and easy and safe, white extensions straight forward enough, 40 quid or something. Got excited on Black Friday and picked up Gigabytes 4080 equivalent which was still over priced...however not quite as badly over priced, and thats how they get you once youve softened slightly. Of course first thing I realised is that the shipped 3 x 8 to 12VHPWR adapter is gonna look total crap with my setup, I know I sound entitled there but I spent so long making everything look clean I wasnt going to ruin it with the shipped adapter. Not really thinking too much about it I got myself a CableMod white extension cable but with a straight connector, 40 more quid, it hadnt really occurred to me at this point that the case might not be wide enough to house the bend....(Fractual Pop Air) It wasnt...the cable bend would press up against the glass of the panel just enough to apply some downward pressure and after all the horror stories I couldnt risk anything with the connection. 50 quid later I had a variant B V1.1 right angle adapter, sick, I could finally put it all together, look decent as well, adapter kinda looks like a Storm Troopers Helmet.....few weeks later CableMod recall....REMOVE YOUR ADAPTERS IMMEDIATELY OR DIE....I mean I could be forgiven for thinking that they had solved the 1.0 issues in the 1.1. nope. At this point I just though screw it and 80 quid later I had my own direct PSU cable made and perhaps the lesson is I should have just done it from the word go, hopefully I can sell the CableMod straight 3 x - 12VHPWR extension and the recall will actually offer some sort of monetary return, we dont know yet. I feel a little stupid tbh. Anyway, hears hoping I dont need to take it apart yet again for cabling reasons: Yes I run Noctua's in a white case, but there isnt anything that matches the performance and sound.

The 1.0 and 1.1 versions are affected and will be recalled. Users must stop using them immediately. My gigabyte 4080 barely made it past 6months before the power connector melted. I had a cablemod connector for the 12vhpwr. Who should I contact?

Hello Community, I wanted to share a recent experience and seek your thoughts. I've encountered a potentially serious issue with my RTX 4090. My CableMod 12 Pin Angled Adapter, correctly installed with the latch firmly clicked in, unexpectedly burned out. This has raised significant safety concerns for me. Has anyone else had a similar experience with this adapter or the RTX 4090? Any insights or advice on how to address this issue would be greatly appreciated. I'm also curious if this is a known problem within the community. Thanks in advance for your input!

Yo guys, since the angled adapters from cablemod melted for a lot of users, I've been keeping my RTX4070 under my desk and it's waiting to get installed since then. Now I got my new 90 degree angled cable (not extension) for my RM750x SHIFT PSU that's been made by ModDIY. I've never had a GPU with the nee connector so I thought I'll ask you guys if the cable looks trustworthy in terms of the connector and the pins. And also: This is a direct cable, no extension. Is it normal that there is one missing cable per 8-pin connector? So it basically an empty hole.

12vhpwr Custom CableMod 12VHPWR Power Adapter Melts on RTX 4090
BiG StroOnZ posted a topic in Tech News
Summary After many weeks of silence, melting RTX 4090 cables are back on the agenda. This time the problem affects a custom cable designed and manufactured by CableMod. Apparently, at least one of such adapters failed and melted when used with a GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card, according to a Reddit post. CableMod, the manufacturer of the device, promised to replace the product. Quotes My thoughts This is not good news, as it seemed like the dust was finally settling with the 12VHPWR adapter. There seems to be some arguments on both sides on whether or not the individual plugged it in correctly. Kyle Bennett from HardOCP on Twitter said, "Don't tell me the user that bought and installed that was not aware of needing to seat it properly". Buildzoid responded to him on Twitter and said, "You can actually see that they probably didn't plug it in all the way on the connector.". There are also other Redditors claiming that you could tell the cable was not inserted properly. However, the affected individual claims he did and it was fine for two months. It's possible it came loose after installation, however, who really knows for certain. Regardless, I'm glad CableMod is handling the situation in a sensible manner. Hopefully, more information arises concerning this dilemma. I will update the thread if more people discover the same thing. Looking at getting some washers for my Motherboard screws (Like the ones in Hoffman's Intel Upgrade) because I like the way they look. I checked CableMod but they have 2 sizes, M3.5 and M4. Which of these, if either, would fit a motherboard screw?

So, I have the Rosewill RBR1000-MS, and I was looking on CableMod to find cables. I scrolled through the series list, and didn't find Rosewill. Does Rosewill have similar cables to another brand on the series list? Or can I not buy from CableMod? I was thinking about getting a be quiet! power supply, should I get one and add CableMod cables to it?

So, I need some help. I have a Corsair HX750i PSU, I also got a Cable Mod Pro C-Series cable set for it when I did. My issue now, is I just downgraded from a 3080 to a 3070 founders, so I have to use the stupid proprietary pin. Where is a good place to get the correctly converted cable in the same style as my mod pack for it? I am based in the UK so preferably something for here. I am struggling to find anything I trust.

hi newbie here! In December I ordered new cables for my computer from cablemod, got them last week but since I am a bit paranoid about changing cables to my 3090 card without double checking. I took my old cables and sent a signal to see which cable went where, after that I did the same with the cables from cablemod, there was not much that matched ... should I be worried or is it right? Bare in mind, I haven't bought the psu and cables yet, but trying to figure everything out. If this is in the wrong spot, I'm sorry. The PSU I was looking at is the EVGA SuperNova P6 1000w and I was looking at the configurator on CableMods. I looked under their custom cables and I am unsure if the psu is consider to be P6, which is on the drop down, or would be supernova p6, which isn't. I am unsure if I should get custom cables or custom extensions. The Case I have is the Phanteks Enthoo Evlov x case

Hey guys. Trying my luck here since I cannot get a response from CableMod support. Wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience. I ordered some custom cables from CableMod with CableMod Express shipping (additional $50) and soon after noticed I ordered the wrong dimensions. So I cancelled the $200 order, received a refund, and ordered the correct dimensions. However, both orders ended up shipping and arrived today. I tried contacting CableMod support and they've been silent. I saw on their Support FAQ page today (first time I saw this) that CableMod Express orders cannot be cancelled as they go immediately into processing. If I had known that prior, I would have figured out a way to make the original order work. Not sure why their website gave me the option to cancel anyway if that's the case. Anyway, I'm really worried that they'll recharge me the $200 for that order and was wondering if anyone had a similar experience they can share and what the resolution was?

I know this is probably going to be a very dumb question, brand new builder here... please point me towards an already raised topic and delete this if im repeating someone else, I tried to search but couldn't find an answer... Currently building in the NR200 and was going to get a custom length EPS cable as my current SX800-LTI cable just about reaches the mobo socket, thought if I'm gunna do that, might as well go custom for all the cables. Enter my confusion, regarding the bridged PCI-E cables, I cannot figure out if I need the 6+8 bridged or the 8+6 bridged. I saw a video that lead me to think I should get the 6+8 but comparing the bevels on the pin ports, looks as though I need the 8+6 cable instead? I'm running a Zotac 2070 Super mini Again, sorry for the dumb question, didn't want to dump money into something and wait 3 weeks only to find out I got the wrong thing....

Hello all, I currently own a EVGA G2 850w PSU, at the time it was one of the better price/quality gold rated PSU's out there. I've owned this one since 2015, I'm planning to buy a cablemod Pro set for my new build However I've seen complaints about newer models, the G5's give off a harsh coil whine. So the questions that I have is: Is there a chance that I run into problems with the G2 paired up with the 3080? Are the issues in the EVGA lineup being adressed/can we expect a better fleshed out "G6?" psu-line from them? I just don't want to buy a cablemod set for this PSU, to then having to throw it away due to no EVGA replacement options being available.

So I ordered a full cablemod kit to replace my PSU cables. I made sure to check to see if it was compatable and even says so on the cablemod website. My PSU is a Corsair RM750x The cable kit I ordered was: And on cable mods comparability list: https://cablemod.com/compatibility/ The 24 pin has 4 less pins ok the PSU side and won't fit. Am I missing something?

I currently own a SeaSonic M12II 620 W 80+ Bronze PSU. It shipped with really ugly and bulky cables, which is why i want to swap them out for CableMod SE-Series ModFlex Basic Cables. However, after hearing some talk about the risk of using PSU Cables that are not from the manufacturer of the PSU, i wasnt sure anymore, so i checked the Compatability List on Cablemod.com. I doesn't list the M12II. Is it just not listed or incompatible? Thank you for any answers.

I’ve been looking around a little bit for some dirt-cheap sleeved cables, but cablemod is way too expensive. I need a 6-pin PCI-e and an 8-pin, as well as a standard ATX 24-pin PSU cable. I don’t care about quality as long as they don’t completely fry my pc :I. I’m just looking for something that’ll bend more easily as the cables in my case stick out because they’re plastic-coated. I’m using a 650-750w (Can’t remember right now) Seasonic Focus modular PSU.

I bougt this kit from CableMod and just to be safe, I would like to know if they are compatible with my NZXT C750. It's actually a Seasonic PSU with NZXT branding according to this review from Toms Hardware (NZXT C Series 750W Power Supply Review | Tom's Hardware (tomshardware.com)). Anyway, I just want to be sure it won't explode. I don't quite understand how compatility list on CableMods website works (Compatibility – CableMod US Store) but they list Seasonic PSU's, so I hope it's ok.
