So i have been looking through the internet all day about this problem that has seemingly existed for over 2 years RTX cards seem to love to idle at 100-120w even though they are supposed to idle around 30w. (i only found out i have this problem as my electricity bill was higher than normal) The nvidia devs seem incompetent at fixing this problem Has anyone actually even found a solution yet? I've probably tried 30 different things out of the 100 posts ive read through and none of them work. What I have noticed so far that no one else has even mentioned yet: When i first boot up my pc it idles at 30w, the second i hit the start button it jumps up to 100w and (sometimes) stays there. if it does get stuck, going into task manager and closing out "windows (file) explorer" always allows my gpu to go back down to normal 30w idle and behaves as intended for a(n unknown) time. I am on windows 11 with the latest updates as of today. This 100w idle problem is not driver dependent. i have tried with 4 different drivers, all having the same problem. Other than file explorer itself i have not been able to find any solution that will affect the gpu idle state. What I have found form my limited testing is: Number of monitors does not matter at all refresh rate does not matter at all resolution does not matter at all Overlock does not matter at all undervolt does not matter at all any settings in msi after burner does not matter at all bios pcie gen settings does not matter at all a complete stock bios or modified bios does not matter at all power management mode does not matter at all restarting does not matter at all asbolutely no options in nvidia control panel matter at all I dont have Nvidia voice or whatever that app is called All forum posts regarding this issue lead to dead ends and fizzle out with extremely limited info about anything and everything really. (was really funny to see nvidia tech support not even respond to multiple tickets about this after admitting they have no clue how to effectively troubleshoot with billions of dollars of time and money) What ever is going on seems to be directly related to something with windows as the only way to consistently unstick my gpu (other than a reboot or temp disable gpu in device manager) is to quit file explorer and relaunch it. Should i just dump my stupid 3080 and go with amd? anyone wanna trade for a 6900xt? anyone wanna buy my 3080? (its got a 240mm AIO) Thank you all in advanced.

Hi guys, new to the forum so apologies if there is already a thread out there answering this, but I have a pretty decent computer, but I seem to getting fairly poor performance with folding @ home My PPD is around 100k my pic specs are: i7 6900k overclocked to 4GHz 64GB DDR4 2667 RAM ASUS GTX 1080 Strix i saw elsewhere there are both supposed to get near on 1 million each!! So where am I going wrong? your help would be appreciated thanks -

So, here's gonna be my very first build log! Are you excited? I know i am! This is by no means my very first build. I've build around 5 PC's before, some really nice ones too imo, but never really got to making a real proper build log. Time to change that, no? So, let's get to it then. The name of the beast: Black Mac. "Why?" You ask? Well, because this PC is gonna be build in a modded Mac case. Specifically this one: Now that right there is a beauty, isn't it? This beast will be a video editing workstation for my older bro, who is in need of a new one. I originally planned for this to be a F@H PC, but as my post in the thread below describes, those plans are off for now. Now for the meat and potatoes, the actually important stuff. The (updated) specs! Case- Powermac G5 (m-ATX modded) (purchased) CPU- Intel Xeon E5 2603 V4 (purchased) MOBO- Asus X99-M WS/SE (Purchased) GPU- Nvidea GTX Titan X (Maxwell) 2-Way SLI (Purchased) PSU- EVGA Supernova 850W (Purchased) SSD- WD Blue M.2 1TB RAM- 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 (purchased) Cooling- Custom Cooling loop! (hardline?) Right now i'm going to keep the stock cooling in because of time constraints. So, expect updates as the parts start rolling in. I, for one, am really looking foreward to this building adventure. Adios!

So whenever I boot up my PC the temps are at 60C and they jump around nonstop. After a while they will settle back to the 28C idle it is usually at. I don't really know what is wrong and it is kind've concerning. My computer used to never do this. I was thinking that it could be a virus, but my antivirus says that nothing is wrong. Also, I've been using RealTemp to get these temperatures, which I dont know if it is accurate or not. Anyone have any advice?

So my current audio set up is a Steinberg UR22 interface, and plugged into it via XLR is an AT 2035 mic, and then also plugged into the interface via 6.5mm jack are my HD598s. I've been thinking of pulling the trigger on the HD600s or even a nicer set, so I'm wondering how my setup would look with all the things needed to power say the 600s. Would it be ok to have an amp/dac to plug the headphones into and still keep the audio interface needed for the mic? Or would that cause some latency issues or something? Any help is appreciated.

Hello ltt-community! My gf just got me the hyperx cloud 2 for christmas, because she thought my mic is done. (i fixed it a couple times with tape) What she didnt know was, that i have beyerdynamics headphones. Now i am looking for a good mic in the same (maybe a bit more) price range as the hyperx cloud2. I thought about getting the yeti, but im afraid it will pick up too much background noise. (my gf playing xbox/watching tv in the background) Whats your opinion? Any recommendations? maybe a non-omni-directional mic? thanks in advance! greetings tobi

Hello, Im pretty new to learning all of this, and atm In college we are studying the AT and ATX power supplies, but Im pretty lost. I want to know how they both work (the energy conversion, etc), and how they transfer the energy to the other (and which) parts of the pc with the cables. Thanks in advance

That's a bargain. It's basically the Hyper 212 EVO just better. For that price it's an instabuy. http://www.zackzack.de/html/detail/zackzack.html?itemId=27710&

I recently bought a new PC exept my old Seagate HDD and a Corsair CX600W PSU. Before the upgrade, I had a an ASUS P8B75-M LE mobo, i5 3330 and an HD7770 and everything worked just fine. The problem started when I changed my platform to an i5 4690K and an ASRock Z97m Pro 4. Here's the problem: Every second time I start my PC (on average) it won't boot up. The power LED indicator and the lights in the case start flashing. I'm guessing that the power delivery isn't constant becasue you can also hear the PC starting up parallel with the lights flashing. I would record the startup but you can't see anything - I'm guessing it's because it flashes more rapidly then the shutter on my phone camera. I repeat - every second time I start my PC (on average) this happenes. Then I have to unplug it from the wall, put the chord back in, press the power button and it works normally. What's the problem? It it maybe the PSU? Thanks.

The problem is this: No matter what FPS I am getting in a game, it will not have that silky smooth look as it should, instead it appears slightly jittery. When I first built my computer it was fine, however, at random it started. Over time I have tried to replace parts of my PC in order to fix it, hoping to find the one causing the issue. So far I have replaced: GPU CPU Motherboard CPU Cooler HDD Case Monitor Current specs: i5 4690k Corsair H60 Cooler Asus HD7970 Asus Z97-A WD Caviar Blue 1TB Define R5 Case Corsair CX600 None of these have fixed the problem, and all that is left of the original PC is the power supply. I only replaced the CPU and Motherboard yesterday, and all together I feel like this is costing too much money, and so I need a fix. One thing I have noticed reduces the effect is V-Sync, however, It is not a fix as I want to play without it, as it adds a blur and input lag. Also, if I am in an area in a game where the is not much to render, the effects are greatly reduced! I haven't been able to fix this problem myself, and I am really desperate for a fix, so any responses will be appreciated! Thank you.

BitTorrent client uTorrent has come under fire from users after it emerged the software’s latest update comes bundled with Bitcoin mining software. Not cool uTorrent, not cool at all. I don't care how much you want to change the world with the unused power of my CPU, you don't get to automatically install anything for any reason, especially something as scummy as this that can take up a lot of resources that aren't yours to requisition in the first place. Its not like uTorrent is worth anything anyways. Deluge and Transmission among others are far better options for people who need a lightweight client that hasn't sold itself out with obnoxious (and even inappropriate) ads and business practices. http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/utorrent-silently-installing-bundled-bitcoin-mining-software

So I was wondering, if someone in the Linus Tech Tips forums knows enough code or whatever it needs to be able to write a program which can show how many Work Units/ Points a user has contributed to the LTT F@H team. Ive seen this in other forums, so that they track the statistics of each donor and little stuff like that. How many places they gained or lost. Whaler will always be first but yeah you know lol I feel that this would attract more people from the forum to fold, if for example each week the top donor got a shout out or something like that. What do you guys think?

NCIX: N/A Amazon: http://georiot.co/H2Q The ATH-AG1 gaming headset from Audio Technica is a feat of sound engineering. It's the best gaming headset I've heard, and has the best mic I've heard on a gaming headset, but it also comes at a price that I've rarely seen on a gaming headset!

Hello all. I plan to build a pc in the next coming months, might hold out for Z97. To the real topic at hand, audio. I want some really good headphones. Wired, comfortable, good sound. I've been looking around, I looked at the SteelSeries Siberia Elite but every where I looked people were saying their garbage. So I won't choose them. I currently have a crappy pair of Tritton AX Pros 1st gen, their ok but their mainly for console. I want something that provides a great surround experience for games like Battlefield. How good are clip on mics for headphones that have mics? If I dont want a desk mic with mic-less headphones, what would be my options and still trying to maintain voice clarity and quality. I've been looking at the Sennheiser HD 598s($180) and HD 600s, latter being a little pricey for my tastes but if their all that much worth it then maybe you can convince me. Another set I was looking at were the BeyerDynamic DT-990Pro 250 Ohm ($140). I would more than likely just be using the onboard sound of the motherboard unless it is truly worth it for a soundcard. I was going to get an ASUS ROG board, either something like the VI Hero or VI Formula. Thanks for reading.

Currently i get 60K PDD 4770k is at 24.145 PPD 680 is at 33405 PPD These numbers seem kinda low comparing to what other people have said in forums that ive read so i was just wondering.

Sup guys, this is my version of a ghetto shield. Made out of 2 PCI slot covers and some electrical tape. Using Kainy, I can stream at 480x800 (my phone's resolution) from all the way across my house with extremely low latency at high image/sound quality. I use the Sixaxis Controller app to connect my controller to my phone. I took these pictures with my phone, so I can't get any pictures with my phone in the contraption. I'll try to find another phone to do that (I might take a video to show off the latency, too)

So this just happened about 15 minutes ago. I wasn't playing a game or anything, just on the forum. All of a sudden the screen goes black and my GPU fan (maybe it was the CPU, I'm not really sure) instantly ramped up to 100% speed. I had to hold the power button to shut down. Also, I turned it on a few seconds after I shut it off and the fan ramped back up to 100%, so I just waited a minute or two and it was at normal speed again. I opened up the case to see if something was wrong, and I did notice that somehow the 8-pin PCI power connector got unplugged from the GPU. Would that cause something like this to happen? I still have no idea how that plug popped out, I guess I just didn't plug it in all the way or something.

Checking folding status remotely.
kristaps552 posted a topic in Folding@home, Boinc, and Coin Mining
Is there a way to check how's your folding doing remotely, e.g. from work? like whens the next WU going to be completed or anything like that. I'm just curios if it can be done at all. Thanks.
