Hi, so after reviving my old iPhone 6s, I'm now looking to replace the battery as the one it has one is falling flat, and barely lasts an hour or two. After watching some tutorials on YouTube, I've learnt the following steps: Unscrew 2 pentalobe screws on bottom of iPhone Remove screen (without disconnecting LCD ribbon) Remove battery bracket Undo battery ribbon clip Remove adhesive strips from under battery by pulling vertically Remove battery Apply new adhesive strips Do steps in reverse order to get iPhone back to fixed state Please do tell me if I've missed any steps here. I also have a few questions regarding the procedure: Do I need to disconnect the LCD ribbon? It seems like a pain and the simple and more time-efficient way would be to keep the LCD panel upright instead of disconnecting the entire LCD. Which battery kits would be best to use? - I've currently found an EMNT battery repair kit, it's 3.82v 2200mAh which includes all the tools and the battery itself for £19.99, good buy? I've never worked inside of an iPhone before, is it worth me performing this surgery myself or should I take my phone into a repair shop? Are there any safety precautions I should take if I were to undergo this procedure, such as fire hazards? Will the 3D Touch be affected in any way after this, since I will have disconnected the panel itself from the phone?

So recently after a long run with my Samsung S8 that I got in May 2018, I've been missing the iOS life since I had used my iPhone 6s from December 2016 up until May 2018. This iPhone 6s has been resilient and sturdy even up until now. I used it daily for 2 years, and even here in 2019, I booted it back up and it's still as snappy as ever. I also had a warm reception when I was prompted to update to iOS 12.1. Of course I did, because that's what I love the most about iOS. It looked as great as the day I got it, I did mod it slightly with a dbrand skin enveloping it as well as a tempered glass screen protector, and considering it's just been in a box for 3/4 of the year, it still looks absolutely beautiful. I decided to revisit the iPhone 6s after I was in awe of the iPhone Xs I saw in-store, it was basically my dream phone with it being a taller aspect ratio, OLED display, and runs iOS. I've used Android for a large majority of my life, and yet in my heart I am an iOS girl. After taking it back out its box, I immediately noticed all the things I initially fell in love with the iPhone 6s for. Obviously first, is that it runs iOS. I love iOS and its fluidity in particular. It just doesn't hiccup no matter what, and this is an Apple product from 2015. It was a beauty to come back to, everything worked, and worked great at that. I was also still very familiar with the iOS layout too, I knew where to navigate to in the app store, where settings were, it brought me back and it was amazing. I honestly really missed iOS, my Samsung S8 only just recently got Android 9 after I asked my carrier when I would get Android 9, and then 3 days later I got an Android 9 update... Android 9 is fluid as well, but it doesn't beat the ease of use, simplicity, and natural flow of iOS, at least for me. The design is simple, yet beautiful. I love phones that have a bottom-facing headphone jack (not that those exist in 2019) such as my current S8 and my before-then Nexus 5X. The home button placement and even the shape itself is great, it's classic Apple design, classy and simplistic. Using TouchID once again felt so nice compared to my S8's awkward rear fingerprint sensor. The button placement i near-perfection as well, for a phone that was made in 2015, the exterior still looks relatively modern minus the screen. Seperate volume buttons, a ringer, and a power button, all made out of metal, it's super premium and once again is so classy of Apple. My one large gripe with the iPhone 6s is the absolutely crude screen. It's a 720p 16:9 LCD screen. This is the one part of the phone that is preventing me from picking it back up and using iOS again. My Samsung S8 has a 2960x1440p 18.5:9 SAMOLED screen, the 6s just pales in comparison in every single way and it's disappointing that as much as I love the 6s, my S8 has just shown me the light of much superior hardware. In addition to that, the colors on the iPhone 6s look flat and are nowhere near as vibrant as my Samsung screen, or even my LG IPS panel. I held my S8 and my 6s side-by-side and there was a night-and-day difference between the two displays that I could notice. Add to that the sheer small size of the iPhone 6s screen and it just wasn't a good experience. The 6s screen just wasn't sharp at all in comparison. Now that I've gotten my iPhone 6s back in my hands after leaving it for nearly a year, my very first thoughts were how beautiful the device is and how excited I was to use iOS again. The device is elegantly-designed especially in the silver color with the white front, the button layouts are perfect for my hand size, TouchID is fast as I remember it used to be, and iOS is still as fluid as ever. I can see how I used this phone for nearly 2 years, it was the phone that had everything I wanted, at that time. But after using my S8 with that gorgeous display, the iPhone 6s' screen just falls flat on its face. It's flat, colors are gloomy, the display is not sharp at all, and it's far too small for me now. The display is one of the first things I look for in a phone, so iPhone 6s with its inferior screen really kills the experience now. That's not to say it's a bad device, it's still as quick and snappy as the day I got it, and I credit that to iOS being optimised to perfection. It's only the screen that prevents me from going back to it. It was nice to turn on my iPhone 6s once again after all this time, I really do miss the iOS experience, and can for sure can see myself using an iPhone Xs in a year's time.

Hi, so I just got my iPhone 6s back and I'm having trouble reviving it. At the moment, it's displaying nothing more than a flat battery. How would I go about making it charge again? Additional information: It's not been used (and therefor charged) since May 2018 I have used both the stock Apple charger and a Native Union charger I've left it to charge for at least 20 minutes

I've been considering getting a 32gb iPhone 6s as my carrier (xfinity mobile, their selection is awful but it's the carrier my parents use and as I'm living at home it makes little sense to find a different one) is offering a $200 back deal currently. The 6s 128gb isn't even listed anymore and I doubt I need the extra storage. My research indicates that the iPhone 6s still runs remarkably well almost 3 years after its release and it retains a physical home button and a headphone jack, both of which are important to me. I also doubt I need the extra performance of an iPhone 7 or 8 as I intend to perform only light tasks and I abhor mobile games. However, I could also potentially wait for an alternate better offer. Can anyone with first hand experience with a 6s or more knowledge of iPhones in general give me some advice here?

I have auto-brightness turned off in settings, but my iPhone 6s still randomly shifts the brightness, whats weird is that the brightness only shifts on the display, and not in the settings. (Brightness will still be set to full, visible brightness will shift down). Does anyone know how I could fix this, thankyou!

Hi. I found myself in a fantastic situation where I can have either the iPhone 6s, the 6s plus or the galaxy s7 edge, however, I'm finding it very difficult to choose between them (first world problems). I've been using my iPhone 4s for 4 and something years now and I absolutely loved it, this little critter didn't let me down anytime and has proven to be as sturdy as an old Nokia (no seriously, this thing took some punishment and is still living). Having said that, I'm used to iOS and the Apple ecosystem (the integration between the iPhone, the iPad and mac being the top point here). I recognise the advantages the s7 has, I love Android and its "open-ness" to tinkering and the free apps, plus the fantastic screen, camera and battery, however, the 6s has speed, camera (with better slo-mo), relatively good battery (worse but good nonetheless) and the whole integration with my mac and iPad. So basically, i want an opinion from people that have used these phones to see if I stick to an iPhone or if I make the switch to Android (as far as phones go). I don't, however, want fanboyism, I get it, some people use iOS while you use Android (or vice versa), doesn't mean one is stupid for using the one you don't, I want objective opinions to compare both fairly.

My iPhone 6s has visible scratches all around the device, when I bought it from the apple store they were there, I was wondering if the Apple Store does resprays or where would I go to get it resprayed? I'm in the UK.

So I'm looking to basically mirror my iPhone over to my monitor so I can watch movies and such on a bigger screen. There's the obvious Apple adapter that goes through the lightening port that connects to an HDMI which is exactly what I'm looking for except it has terrible reviews and is $50. I have terrible internet so mirroring over wifi wont work, curious if anyone knew a good adapter/way to mirror the screen. Thanks!

I just wanna know if anyone has downloaded it already and what their experiences are, why or why i shouldn't do, etc etc. I have a 64gb 6s on the latest ios. thanks

Hi, I've bought an iPhone 6s 3 months ago and I have already 45 cycles of battery used. I was so surprised when I saw 45. How many cycles is the battery able to hold until it is going to be useless? I want to keep my battery "healthy" as possible.

So i want to buy a new smartphone amd im thorn between S7 edge and iphone 6s. I mostly text, watch movies and play games with my phone so the obvious answer is s7 edge i thought. But today i read that ios has more lifetime that android, this meaning that android stops receiving updates while ios keeps updating during more time. What do you think?

So my iphone "died" at 21% battery and refused to turn back on for 10 minutes, when i did reboot it again, it was at 21% and then it shut off again. I doubt the iphone can't tell the battery's charge level correctly, what could it be? Should I get it serviced or something?

DXOMark has ranked the 6s behind the iPhone 6, putting it as the 10th best smartphone camera. IMO, this is a disappointing result to see because of how good this phone is (from what I've heard). The bright side is that the landscape has changed and people no longer have to resort to iPhones for a great camera experience. Source: http://www.dxomark.com/Mobiles/Apple-iPhone-6s-review-Solid-and-compelling-performance Off-topic: Microsoft Edge is so frustrating to use on this forum. Quotes takes 2 clicks to work, copy and paste doesn't even work Edit: I just thought of this. This also proves, in a way, that megapixels don't really add much to the image quality (once it reaches a single point).

Amazon: http://geni.us/477G NCIX: http://bit.ly/1PssFbj When some review sites began comparing the performance of the iPhone 6S to that of the Macbook 2015, we knew we had to give it a similar water-based treatment...

MKBHD's Video About "Chipgate" Contains Some Inaccuracies
LAwLz posted a topic in General Discussion
Some of you might already have seen MKBHD's video about chipgate. I just wanted to say that there are 2 huge inaccuracies in it so please be very careful if you are going to repeat anything he said in it, because it might be wrong. Here is the video: This is so very wrong. Usually it is the other way around. Smaller chips has better efficiency. This is the exception rather than the norm. One of the reasons why it might be an exception is because not all transistors are created equal. If you were to take the exact same TSMC chip and shrink it slightly, then it might have gotten even more efficient than the Samsung one. That is not how the GeekBench battery test works, at all. GeekBench's battery test does not max out the CPU and run it like that until the battery is dead. What the test actually does is run parts of the GeekBench CPU test for a while and then idle, then run part of the test again and then idle. It also makes sure it does a certain amount of work every time. The CPU is not active for anywhere near 100% of the time. Just left like pointing those two things out before I start hearing it repeated over and over everywhere. -
Which phone would you choose (don't mind the price) and why?

Basically Apple patented a way to cover their ports with a self healing elastomer which would deform every time you plug something in and then heal and seal after the connector gets removed Pretty cool idea if you ask me and can i guess can lead to much cleaner waterproof designs for the whole industry as always Source: http://9to5mac.com/2015/12/10/waterproof-iphone-self-healing-elastomer/

Which of these new features, pictured below, in the new iphone 6s and 6s+ are actually new to the smartphone industry and what is apple catching up on? New features: 3D Touch - This is sorta new to smartphones. Microsoft had a phone, nicknamed Mclaren, with this feature that when your finger either pressed or hovered on a live tile it would explode into a bunch of tiles. The feature is called Mixview. Will Microsoft implement this feature in the future? Maybe, we will have to see. I also heard from a friend that a couple of android phones had the feature but it's not implemented well. 2nd-generation Touch ID - Finger print scanning is nothing new BUT Apple is the only one that has this particular technology in smartphones. Every other company has to use a different companies tech because Apple bought the company that made the Touch ID hardware. Not new features: Hey Siri available without charging a phone - Google Now and Cortana have had this for quite awhile. Before, you could say "Hey Siri" but only when the device was plugged in to the outlet. Now, you can say "Hey Siri" at any time and siri will activate. Strongest cover glass - multiple generations of phones have been implementing stronger glass, this is no different. LTE Advanced - Not new to smartphones but it's good that Apple updated to the latest in LTE Faster Wi-Fi - Basically, it's a 5ghz band. Phones have had this for maybe 2 years or more. My phone can connect to 5ghz band already. 12mp iSight Camera - While iphones do take good pictures they haven't always been the most up to date. Nokia, Samsung, LG, Sony and others have been implementing better and better camera tech into their phones for years now which take high resolution, low light, low noise, clear pictures. 4k Video - SOOO Last year. Nokia, LG, Samsung and others implemented this capability either last year or early this year. 5mp FaceTime HD - Multiple models of phones have a 5mp or better front facing camera. Live Photos - It's a neat feature but Nokia first released an app that had this years ago, then they implemented "Living Images" into their camera app last year in early 2014. http://www.windowscentral.com/video-living-images-nokia-camera http://www.phonearena.com/news/Video-of-Living-Images-up-close-on-the-Nokia-Lumia-930_id54706 I do not know of any android phones having this capability. If any do, let me know and I will update the post. Unconfirmed if new or not: 7000 series aluminum - I'm sure it's not new to smartphones but I do not know what aluminum other phone makers have used. Retina Flash - There must be a camera app out there that turns your screen white and bright before taking a selfie, I just don't know of any but what this does is I guess actually flash the phones screen white and bright. What features do you think are still missing in the iphone that you already have and use in your own smartphone? Iphone STILL doesn't have wireless charging which no one expected the 6s to have but maybe the 7. Also, you can't use the NFC chip built into the iphone to send and receive files you want to transfer with other smartphone OR NFC tags. If any info is wrong or you think I should add something just comment with either mentioning me or replaying to me and I can change the post.

Hey the new iPhone was just announced and I want to get it but the price seems a bit too much. It's my first iPhone so I wanted to know some things. How does I cloud work? Can I get a 16gb iphone and get the 20gb iCloud package, and it will be like hypothetically having 36gb of memory? I know it won't save apps like games but it will save everythin else? Won't really put high memory apps on it really but lets say I record a long 4k video and it's almost a gb. Will that save all to icloud or phone AND icloud? Thanks . And if so, do u recommend the 20gb or the higher one? Or should i just get the 64gb iPhone? Heard it will take time to download files like the 4k video but my wifi speed is pretty fast (60down and 10up) Thanks.

Some of iOS 9‘s more important planned enhancements include split-screen apps on iPads, a new Home app for controlling HomeKit accessories, a new system-wide UI font, a mass transit directions service for the Maps app, and major quality, performance, and security enhancements (even for older devices!). However, multiple sources note that there will also be some smaller, but still important, tweaks to the operating system. iPhone 6S force Touch Sources confirm that the next-generation iPhone will look like an iPhone 6 but will include a Force Touch display with haptic feedback as one of its marquee feature additions. To go with the new hardware, Apple has designed iOS 9 to be Force Touch-ready and is working to let developers integrate Force Touch into App Store apps. Force Touch on the iPhone will be used to clear up some control space across the system, and potentially replace some long press-and-hold button interactions. Additionally, Force Touch on the iPhone will offer similar functionality to the Force Touch Trackpads built into new Retina MacBooks and Retina MacBook Pros. Force Touch will be integrated into Maps to drop new pins, into media players for pressure-sensitive scrolling, into the Calendar for adding new events, and across the system for quickly looking up word definitions, according to sources who have used Force Touch on prototype versions of the “iPhone 6S.” Keyboard Beyond Force Touch support, Apple is also working on an updated keyboard for iOS 9. Apple is said to have prototyped multiple new keyboard designs, including one that is slightly longer than the current keyboard and includes additional editing controls while in portrait mode Apple is said to have also redesigned iOS 8’s infamous Shift Key so that it is easier to tell when shift or caps lock is activated. Apple Pay for Canada In line with reports that Canada will become the first country outside of the United States to officially support Apple Pay, we are told that iOS 9‘s Passbook application includes the necessary foundation to support banks, credit/debit cards, and credit unions in Canada. While the technical side for Canada is being built into iOS 9, it’s unlikely that such a launch will be announced until Apple finalizes its negotiations with Canadian banks. iMessage Lastly, we are told that iMessage is expected to receive some minor but important enhancements. Apple has upgraded its back end infrastructure to support read receipts for group chat threads, as well as read receipts on a contact-by-contact basis. I'm glad that Apple's cooking up an update with major focus on stability with few tweaks here and there, therefore refining iOS. But what I'm most excited about is the iPhone 6S with force touch with haptic feedback (vibration feedback when typing woohoo!). Given how the new mac trackpads feel, I'm definitely stoked for the next iPhone Source: http://9to5mac.com/2015/05/26/ios-9-supports-iphone-6s-force-touch-may-enhance-imessage-keyboard-apple-pay/

Hi, if you know anything about tf2 and just want to hang around a bit feel free to add me. If you are in a comp level of tf2 I occasionally play lobbies but I'm not all that much into real comp due to me be running tf2 in a toaster with fps cfgs, at 400x600, barely getting 60fps after an hour of playing. It would still be fun to get a team together and play something, either 6s, hl or just a pub. My mains are solly(more like roamer), sniper(All doe I usually get high pings so I don't play it on lobbies), and med. Mini-sentry and random crits hater TrisT - Have a nice day and add me if that iz your desire (link in my profile). Ps: I can also make you a really nice sfm poster c:
