Hi. I've been in the market for a legit finger print sensor to add to my laptop that is not equipped in order to allow windows hello. There are miriads of USB knobs and doodads that does exactly this but none is positively recommended and most stop working after a few weeks from buyer reviews. Does anyone know of one that works? I mainly use windows, so no applewatch login tricks. Thanks.

I have an Old Canon Image Class MF3010 all in one Laser printer and Scanner. I use it maybe once a quarter. Lately it's been showing error code E202. Which points to issue in scanner. I tried replacing the scanner (CCD) cable but it didn't worked out. I don't want to invest any more money on it but on the same time I was looking if there's anyway I can just use to print documents rather than tossing the whole unit out. I had once wiped out the scanner head and it worked for few days. Since it shows error code for scanner it doesn't print either. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Not sure if this is the right sub-forum considering there's no "printer" section in "consumer electronics". Apologies if it is. Hi everyone, my HP Officejet 5220 has failed me. It is printing incomplete pages with faded colour despite new ink cartridges being installed. I am looking to buy a new printer for home use. And would like the community's recommendations. I occasionally print photos on photo paper, so it should be able to do that. I'm not too picky about the photo colour (for example it does not have to have the best of the best colour printing, but decent would suffice). It needs to have wireless functions and built in scanning and copying capabilities. I am aware theat there sre ink jet and ink tank printers around. But i don't know too much about their pros and cons to have a preference. As long as it can last long and not break the bank when I have to buy ink cartridges / ink bottles. Looking forward to your suggestions!

Posted it on HP boards but got no anwser and I'm on bit of a hurry. Sometimes the coumputers on the network can't find the scanner and I have to reinstall the the driver, not at the sametime, from time to time one computer loses the ability to use the scanner but not the printer. But my problem right now is: it scan the first page but when I try to scan more pages it says that there is a error of connections. I tried rebooting the printer/scanner and the computers. not at the sametime, from time to time one computer loses the ability to use the scanner but not the printer. There is no problem printing, but scanning is always giving me problems. A few more informations: I running Windows 10 Pro and a i5 8400 on all the computers and they are connected to the network by wire throught a router(or a switch, I don't know I have both and a modem to handle my office local network and phones).

I'm trying to use the OC scanner on the ASUS GPU TweakII, but it gets to around 7% and just stalls for a few minutes, then freezes my system which I then have to restart. Am I doing something wrong? (ROG Strix RTX 2070 with a i5-9600k)

Any old grey bearded business equipment wizards out there? So I’ve got an old x97 build with Win8.1 on it, and some peripherals that are even older. It’s my gaming machine. Such as it is. It’s getting a bit long in the tooth. Once upon a time long ago it was reasonably hot. I’m hoping to nurse it along till maybe mid 2020 before I do a full rig upgrade. (Windows 10. Blech. I knew it has to happen though) the laser printer is a brother 5040 (usb) This actually did work well enough, but I had a hard crash, and when I brought it back up I could get documents to spool, and the OS recognized the existence of the printer (I think) but it wouldn’t actually print. The scanner is harder I suspect. It’s an HP scanjet 5300c. Old old. I can’t even get the machine to admit it exists. Getting even one of these working in Win 8.1 would be super handy. right now I’m looking at the minor horror of loading Linux onto an old Pi zero ive got and trying to turn that into a network hub. CUPs and SANE. So much evil it makes me nauseous. It would be so much simpler if I could just get them to speak to my machine on USB. Anyone feel like talking an old fool through nursing his geriatric children?

Well, here's the question and here's what i have (which is clearly not working). "Write a program that reads a word from the java console. Your program should then output the same word, first output in all uppercase, then output in all lowercase, then output the original word." import java.util.Scanner; public class UpperLowerCase { public static void main( String [ ] args ) { Scanner scan = new Scanner( System.in ); System.out.println( "Enter anyword > "); String word1 = scan.nextLine().toUpperCase(); System.out.println( word1 ); String word2 = scan.nextLine().toLowerCase(); System.out.println( word2 ); String word3 = scan.nextline(); System.out.println( word3 ); } } I went back over notes and previously written code to dig for an answers, found nothing thus far, will continue in the mean time.

I'm troubleshooting a printer/scanner (connected with WiFi) and a Windows 10 64bit HP laptop (WiFi). The issue is that when the laptop leave the network (house) and comes back the printer/scanner doesn't recognise (Australian Spelling) the computer, I fixed this by remove the printer/scanner from the computer then re added it and it worked fine, until it stopped again. I have noticed this only happens when the device leaves the network. If I left out anything you need please let me know.

I have a RICOH MP C401 copier/scanner/printer connected via USB to a Vostro 200 running Windows 10. Problem is, Windows fax and scan and Adobe Acrobat refuse to detect the scanner. I can print to it perfectly fine, and I've downloaded all the drivers I can get. Any help? I'm aware dealing with printers can be obnoxiously difficult, but I'm hoping something can be done. I'm pretty literate with computers, so any info you need, I can supply.

I need a decent photo and negative scanner with good resolution and features. I have a lot of old photos I need to scan and digitize. My budget is around 300$ but maybe a bit more. Also does anyone recommend a software to edit the photos later that is either free or pay once type??

Hey guys, I'm looking for a new printer because my old one doesn't want to print in colours anymore. Maybe you can make a suggestion because I don't know that much about printers. It should have a scanner for DIN A4 too and being able to print front and back of the paper. WLAN would be good too but not a must. I'd pay max. 250USD. Thank you in advance!

A friend of mine who is currently a university student is looking for a new printer. He currently has a Brother Ink jet MFP that chugs ink like a frat boy at a party with free beer and is looking to switch to a laser/LED printer. His only requirements are that it has to be a compact MFP as he lives in a small one bedroom condo with is partner and space is at a premium (he likes the size of my Samsung SCX-3205W), mono, scanner, wireless and doesn't cost as much as the first wireless printer ever made!. I have tried looking for something that suites his needs, but printers are not my area of expertise. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.

tl;dr version: want scanner I can feed a multi-page, multi-sided document into and hit a fire-and-forget button and have it go automagically straight to Evernote, seems like someone has probably figured this out before me in 2018 Looking for a scanner for a paperless home. Have some notes (about ~800-1000 pages, afraid to count) from grad school and a bunch of paper files (about another 300-ish pages) that I want to digitize for archiving, after that just basic home use: personal documents and correspondence, receipts etc. Phone apps requiring manual shooting each page and cheap all-in-one printers aren't going to get the job done in reasonable time. Even looked into renting one, but at $150 for the cheapest 1-week rental I figure I might as well buy something. >Budget $100 to about ~$400 max. Less is better, but willing to pay for a quality long-term solution that gets this clutter out of my life >Requirements WiFi Automatic document feed with duplexing (auto double-sided) Scan direct to cloud services (Evernote) without a PC, phone, etc. intermediary having to be turned on. Via email is good enough as long as it's not slaved to a PC. Reliable scanning of pencil notes without manually setting contrast, exposure etc. >Would be nice, but not necessary Automatic OCR, but can leave that to Evernote or perform manually when needed Ethernet just in case >Previous devices Epson XP-434 all-in-one that did a handy one-touch standalone scan to cloud to Evernote, but only one single-sided page at a time HP 4652 all-in-one that's slow, requires a PC and too much manual interaction and babysitting for the initial high volume >Models Already Under consideration Fujitsu Scansnap ix500: nice, but EXPENSIVE for my needs @ $400+ (yikes!) and still requires link to PC Epson Workforce ES-500W, $329 and still requires PC No real preference between a standalone scanner and all-in-one printer as long as the all-in-one is up to the task

How can I write the following code using java Scanner instead of Text.IO?

I want to set up my old Pixma MP250 as a standalone network scanner with a lightweight arch distro managing it. I have arch installed and configured saned, but I can't figure out how to get the scanner function to work. I've looked at scangearmp in the AUR repos, but it depends on some packages that are a) 32-bit, and b) orphaned. Is there any other way I can interface with this scanner short of ripping it apart and Frankensteining it? I've had this printer working before on Fedora, but that was 8 years ago. edit: To clarify, I don't want to print anything. This is going to be just a "scanner-only"

fellow LTT forum members, I need HP LaserJet 3052 scanner drivers urgently. I have checked the interwebs but could only find the drivers for the printer. If anyone has that particular driver in their posession, sharing would be much appreciated. Thank you. PS: would asking for Windows 10 64bit be pushing it??

I have an old canon mg 2120 and was at ends when the full size photo paper the first time i tried it came out perforated all over the paper by the feed spikes. Now i see the upgrade the PIXMA MG3620, but watching the qvc demo the photo paper was so thin it curled, not sexy at all. Now if that is what i have to deal with i am out, because my caveat is i want a front loading printer. I did find the HP ENVY Photo 6255 and link https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-envy-photo-6255-all-in-one-printer?jumpid=ma_2018-july-4-sale~printers~3~STO~K7G18A%23B1H~HP_ENVY_Photo_6255_All-in-One_Printer Is a front loading printer i am looking at. If you guys and gals can find me a better one at the price of around 80 smackers; my needs are: Low cost printing And Amazing scan quality with small file size Also front loading

My Pixel 2 XL phone went from one charge with the scanner working to the next with it malfunctioning. When i would try to use the scanner i would get a message saying " fingerprint hardware not available." This is making me think the scanner isn't bricked since it can tell when my finger is against it but it won't actually read my fingerprint. I then tried deleting my fingerprint data and re-adding but it wont read my finger anymore. Is there any possible fix besides sending it in for repairs.

Before I begin, the main reason I'm asking is so I can scan QR codes so I can use the Authy Desktop Authenticator. I am well aware of the risks of doing this, and I'm willing to take my chances. So, can anyone recommend Desktop software that isn't tacky or cheesy or might install viruses? Does such software exist? I'm on Windows 10 Pro and I have a Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 Camera.

I want to setup the fingerprint scanner on my Samsung Galaxy S7 for the phone itself, my bank's app & anything else I can. Ever since the day I got this phone though & saw someone else having theirs serviced because it wasn't recognizing their fingerprint, I've been too worried to try it. Is it really that bad or what? Is there a decent chance that some apps such as my bank's won't play well or is it more fool-proof than passwords? On Android Central, they said to grab 2 pics of my thumb going across the censor diagonally. Are they implying I slide it across or just press it down in that way? Also, will only that particular thumb & not any other finger of mine work to unlock the phone? Can a cut or callus inhibit the censors success rate?

Hey All, Doing a project for a uni and basically want to set up an rfid sticker on something that I've 3D printed so it will allow me to log into an iPad. Possibly something bluetooth so it looks professional with no cables. Any suggestions would be awesome. Cheers
