I reset my router because I forgot the password that I made. Now after creating a new one and going through the setup my router is working fine except it won't connect to the Internet. I'm currently on a wait list in my ISP's chat cuz I remember when I did this the last time I think I called and told them to do a certain thing and it worked? I can't really remember my memory is failing me. Any suggestions?

Hello, as the title indicates, I have a Linksys WRT1200AC router. For the past two days at around 8PM, my router has reset itself to factory default settings. I've been able to recover the router and restore it both times. What could be causing this issue? Too me, the regularity of the problem indicates a software issue. The router automatically updates so its firmware is modern. I've also not seen any evidence of any malicious devices on the network. Every device in the network map is mine or a family members. I recently configured an OpenVPN server on the router but that was week ago, the issues started within the last 2 days. I don't see why the issues would start now. My options seem limited but I have not been able to find any recent documentation for a similar problem and Linksys does not have support forums. Looking for anyone with a similar problem. If replacement is the best option, should I buy another Linksys router? Up until now I've loved the thing.

Ok so i have an ASUS TUF gaming FX705DT laptop. It has been facing some performance issues and i have found out that those issues are being caused by all the ASUS bloatware that xomes preinstalled with it(apps, services etc.) So if i use the clean install thingy from the 'Reset this PC' menu, and set restore preinstalled apps to 'No', will it remove both the ASUS apps AND THE SERVICES? Or only the apps and NOT the services? Also what happens to the Drivers?

Hi, I'm having issues with my pc. Whenever I'm gaming for a longer period of time, my pc freezes. But not completely. When playing Valheim, all sound (in-game and Discord) cuts out, and after a few seconds the game freezes, but I can use alt+tab to open other windows. Those windows don't respond to anything I do, but I can see them. Task Manager does open, but I can't do anything in it, because it won't respond. When playing Northgard, my pc does exactly the same, but the game stil moves. I can move over the map, I see the characters moving, but they are moving in place and the game doesn't progress any further. And, same as before, Task Manager doesn't do anything. The only thing I can do to get out of it is to press the reset button on the pc. What I already tried: - Installing fresh windows 10 - Updated all drivers - Ran a memory test (matched.exe) - Ran the System File Checker (sfc /scannow) Is anyone here familiar with the issue, and do they have a fix for it? It is really frustrating when I try to play online with friends, because I never can complete a full game. initially posted it in troubleshooting, posting it here just incase: TLDR; I just reset Windows 10 after a period of showing a black screen after startup due to a Gpu driver problem. But after the reinstall my laptop is constantly at 100% cpu usage but all of the processes at Task Manager reporting 0% usage, as well as constantly freezing a few mins after starting up. I been using my Dell inspiron 7559 (i5 6300/Gtx 960/8gb) running windows 10 for a long time until earlier this week where I can't use my Gpu in applications (but it still appeared in device manager although with a yellow triangle mark) I reinstalled the Nvidia drivers, but stupidly left the Integrated graphics disabled within device manager when I restarted. Starting a cycle of turning it on, just getting a black screen with just a loading symbol in the mouse- turning it off, and repeat. During the process of trying to fix it I've: Cleared the CMOS twice, Setting Bios to default settings, Rolling back windows updates in the windows recovery screen, Finally somehow gotten it to boot into safe mode- reinstated the integrated graphics, and finally fed up going with the nuclear option of resetting windows. With hard shutdowns after freezing/blackscreen throughout the process. (Tbh I think constantly turning it off was a bad idea, and caused further issues down the line) I think the constantly freezing on startup started after either rolling back windows updates or after getting into safe mode. After booting to safe mode to enable the iGPU I was able to get further in the startup process getting into the account selection but I was left with a forever looping Welcome screen upon logging in. Sometime in this stage I was able to Ctrl+alt+del open task manager and get into my windows desktop but it freeze as soon as I tried to do anything or by just waiting for a couple of mins. Right now I'm trying to backup all my drawings/documents and other files worth saving, incase of a full reinstall of Windows or full reformat of my boot ssd. I'm really hoping for solution so that it won't have to come to that. I'll appreciate all the help I can get. Thank you for listening and I'm eagerly waiting for your suggestion to my situation.

Hi, my computer turns on fine, but everytime it needs to restart to install windows, it comes back on as no signal to monitor. However computer is still running. This happens regardless of what computer is doing, whether I was even making changes in bios and it needed to restart. The only way to get out of the no signal is to hard shut down. I have waited a long time and it never gets connection after no signal. PLz help (Computer does get signal until restart, then I have to hard shutdown and turn on again to get signal back.) Computer is unusable because I cant install windows, and cant do pretty much anything that requires restart. I also forgot to mention that keyboard and mouse rgb dosen't come on after restart, however fan rgb is on and computer is still running. Also yeah no power to any usb

Hi all I've been wondering about something with the CMOS battery and with resetting CMOS, if a PC have issues and so on... I've tried two times now with my own system, when I turn on my PC, all fans spin up, GPU fans aswell, RGB lights up, you know, the PC's powers on but no POST. Then what I did was to reset CMOS by removing it from the motherboard for either a couple of minutes, and/or pressing the power button while the battery is removed. But this didn't not work. What ended up working, both times, was starting my PC WITHOUT the CMOS battery installed - instant POST. Afterwards I just power off my PC normally, reinstall CMOS battery and then my PC turns on normally - POSTs and everything. Can anyone here explain to me what the difference was between resetting CMOS and not having the CMOS battery installed? Should both equal the same result? Faulty CMOS battery? Faulty motherboard?

Hey there, I have reset Windows 10 on my computer one week ago to clean-up my pc and just start over from a clean install, but since then had a problem with the performance of the cpu. My CPU: 9700k (running at 4.6 GHz after "Load Optimized Defaults" by ASUS Z390-E motherboard, stock was 3.6 GHz) My GPU: MSI 2070 Super Gaming X Trio (stock, no oc) My PSU: Corsair RM750X 80 plus gold Rest of bios settings are Load Optimized Defaults, except for XMP I profile. When starting up Rocket League for example, for some reason my cpu starts to downclock to 0.8 GHz after 20 seconds or so, and the wattage of the cpu drops down to +/- 5 watts, even tho the PL1 (tdp = 95 w) and PL2 (tdp = 95 x 1.25 = 118.75 w) limits are stock. This is happening with some other games too, and I really do not understand why. It states that there is "Power Limit Throttling", which I did not have before the reset of Windows 10 while playing Rocket League. I have a 750 w power supply and it should be more then enough for my system. When closing down Rocket League, after a few seconds the clocks go back to normal. Some other games are not dropping down the clocks entirely and are not showing "Power Limit Throttling" but are also performing worse then before, for example Euro Truck Simulator 2 before the reset easily got 180 fps and is now hardly getting 80 fps. Same goes for GTA V online, beforehand easily 100 fps, now struggling with 70-85 fps. Also whenever I start-up a game my MSI Afterburner crashes and starts-up with the gpu fan speed stuck at 15% instead of the 90% I have set-up in Afterburner. When I close my game Afterburner crashes again, starts-up again and is back on the preset I have set-up, very weird . I'm including a screen capture of what is happening when I start-up and close Rocket League with rivatuner statistic server and other pc monitor software enabled to make things easier. The screen capture: What should I do to fix these problems? I hope you can help me. Kind regards, ~ Nick

so, recently my PC has been at random "freezing", sound continues to play, i can still talk on discord, but the screen is either locked or black, i cant pause spotify but it will continue playing without issue. i've ran stresstests on CPU and GPU now, 0 errors when both ran at 100%, but when i play a game it usually wont last longer than a few minutes, i've been running it for about 30 min now out of game 0 issues, there isnt any performance issues running up to the "freeze" it just happens, sometimes i can play for hours on end no issue, but recently its barely been 30 at most, and that hasnt been possible since yesterday afternoon. yesterday after one of the freezes windows booted up to a the "regular "asus logo" and then went to black screen with several teal dots, and 2 blue pixels, had to restart 14 times before it booted as normal, has not happened since then. stresstest maximum temps are 60°C on CPU cores and 75°C on GPU, ran tests with OCCT CPU: 9900K GPU: 1080 TI strix MB: Asus strix z390-F gaming RAM: 3200 MHZ trident Z

So I had this issue in my laptop for a while now, it only happens occasionally. I don't know what triggers it too. My laptop has 2 nvme - m.2 slots. Both of which are occupied by 512 gb ssds. 1 was pre-installed and I only added the 2nd one - an adata xpg sx8200 pro 512gb, the stock was an intel 660p. So my issue is occassionally my laptop freezes and the only way to get out of it is to force shutdown/ restart the system. But after restart it will then always be stuck at the bios splash screen. To 'fix' this I had to pop the back open, remove the 2nd ssd (adata), reboot and it will continue the boot up. Then i'll shutdown again and put back the 2nd ssd to have the 2nd storage back to the system. It will always work with this supposed 'fix'. Is this an ssd issue? I had this laptop for a year now and it happened for I'd say more or less 10 times. But just yesterday it happened twice (counts towards 10) - first one after closing a game and the second one just before shut down. It becomes now a chore to - remove screws > pop lid > remove ssd > reboot > shutdown > re - seat ssd > close lid > replace screw just to 'fix'. Hoping anyone would sheld a light to this issue I am facing. If this is an ssd problem Other notes: I have no spare ssd to check if there are any issues withthe socket/ laptop itself or another laptop to check if the freezing issue occurs to that other laptop too if I would install the adata ssd there too. Specs: Ryzen 7 3750h; 1660ti max q; 16 gb ram

Hi! I've been experiencing a weird and very annoying trouble with my PC. My machine shuts down whenever I load it, doesn't matter if it's a gaming load or a work load (Vray - CPU based rendering). It usually happens after 3 to 4 hours of use. It's often a hard shutdown with the characteristic click coming from the PSU, the pwr led stays on but everything else seems powerless. Sometimes (like 3/10 times) the bios goes back to default settings, but I know the mobo is not the problem as it's brand new. I replaced the first one because of the same problems. In terms of troubleshooting, I stress-tested the ram for hours and the ssd's are healthy as well, there's no trouble there. The mobo can be discarded, i guess. This means that the GPU, CPU or PSU might be the problem. I know CPUs don't fail very often if they are not mistreated (overheating, too much voltage, overclocking) which is why I think that is not the issue here. The fact the the shutdown happends regardless of GPU or CPU load and the loud click leads me to believe that there's a PSU problem. Note: CPU and GPU temps are constantly checked and everything is normal. The only thing that seems a little bit odd is that now CPU clocks under load are a bit too low sometimes. Usually when I was rendering clocks wouldn't go below 3.9, now im seeing 3.7 and even 3.6. I'm relatively new to PC's, soo... I could be wrong. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. This has been concerning me big time. For the last week I have been getting daily account recovery codes from facebook. I use randomized passwords for everything and 2-factor authentication, so it appears that no one has been able to actually access my accounts, and I used the setting to sign myself out of everything just to be safe. In the emails there's always an option for if I wasn't the one that requested the code, yet this is still happening. I remember facebook used to show locations of where attempted logins came from, but it looks like they don't do that anymore. This has been weirding me out for a while. Normally these kinds of things happen a couple times and then they stop, but this person or program has been relentless with trying to get in. Does anybody have some advice or a similar experience to share?

Can you see what files were on a pc if it‘s factory reseted?
MilkShaker775 posted a topic in Windows
My question is, if you can see any kind of data that was on a Pc, before you factory reseted it choosing to delete all data. But does it really delete all data, or can you after setting up windows again, somehow see what data and account logins or whatever were on the drive? And if you could still access data would it be a difficult process to arrange that? I just wonder that because I sold my old pc and the only thing I did was a reset. I would appreciate an answer, thank you.- 5 replies

I cant update windows 10 or restart it. First, I'm trying to do a clean install of windows 10, but it won't let me. I've tried both doing a local and cloud reinstall. Both don't work, tells me something went wrong. Then I tried to update windows 10 and it won't let me. It keeps giving me error code 0x800700c1. I even tried manually installing the update through the installer from online. Didn't work. I'm not sure what to do, I don't really want to keep anything on the computer i just want a clean install.

I updated DIR-600 firmware to DD-WRT to be able to use it as a repeater. After I applied changes, it logged out, and the power light turned into a solid orange permanently. Tried to recover it by the reset button, no use. It seems the router is dead. I've tried many reset button methods to solve this. Not even a change on it has happened. I download DD-WRT from its official site. I installed "dlink-dir600b-factory-webflash.bin". Not even the "Recovery Mode" worked. Don't know what else to do. Have any ideas, please?

Hi there, some time ago I've build a new gaming pc with the following specs(cpu, gpu and ram): CPU: Ryzen 7 2700x GPU: RTX 2080 OC 8gb RAM: HyperX Predator 1x16 GB, P/N: KHX3200C16D4/16GX My folowing problem is that I've tried to overclock the ram to 3200 MHz as described by the manufacturer and simply it doesn't work .. I don't know if I'm forgetting something.. Tried X.M.P., tried to manually set the timings and voltage, etc. None of the before mentioned work for me. After Save & Exit my pc boots into the windows with no problems, runs games very good, and doesn't get any blue screens. But after every cold boot my pc fails to boot 3-4 times, then the 5th time it boots withouth image and I need to manually shut it down. Ok so far so bueno, but after I turn it back on it resets all the timings and goes back to the stock freq. of 2400MHz I've tried "every" video on yt, every forum I've encountered, tried to ask Gigabyte support, I don't know that to do else. Could it be the problem that I only have one RAM module and not 2 ? idk maybe I'm dumb

Hello everybody, So here is my problem. I a have a vdsl connection but i am a not connected from a dslam. I am connected from a cabin with a protocol called vpu, vpu-lite actually. But the type of my connection is not the deal here. My line is perfect from the noises and errors point of view so the problem i am facing it is not a connection issue. So my modem seems to restart by itself and i mean restart and not desync and resync the connection to internet. My model is a Technicolor TG788 v2 by thomson. I have searched over the internet and it seems like the modem has a faulty compartment inside causing the restart due to overheat, epsecially when wifi is used extensively. All i am asking of is if everybody knows something that i can do to fix this problem either from inside the modem's interface or by doing anything else like adding a ups to its power feed. Changing the modem has already be done and its not for discussion yet cause if a put other market modems with different firmware than this i wont have phone services. (cause my isp use voip so they are cooperating with the manufacturer which makes them a special firmware and pre install it in this spesific model). Is anyone out there who had the same issues with this specific model or had heard anything about it or about a similar problem? Thanks a lot . P.S. I can assure you its not a cable issue by any means. Either the one that comes out from the wall socket neither the one providing power to the modem. They are all tested ,the problem is exclusively caused by the modem . P.S.2. From inside the interface i can see that the modem draws a lot of power (which is expressed in dbs) and that is not so normal. Generally the electricity grind of my house is in a very good condition and i don't have any problem with any other device. The only thing i don't know is about any power drops that may occur and causing the problem, but if thats the deal they are too minor to notice them through other devices in advance. That's why i proposed a solution using a ups device .

I just got an old PC that used to belong to my friend and put a couple new parts in it. But since this was his, i'm still running his Windows 10, and I don't want that. Windows has an option to reset a PC; wipe all files from it and reinstall windows. But every time I try, it gives me an error message without telling me anything about what went wrong. I thought that maybe I could just get a Windows 10 installer on my USB, but that would require wiping this partition, which I don't want to do until I know what my product key is. I try to get the product key but all that shows up is what's in the picture. This PC was built by CyberPowerPC, so it wasn't installed by him directly. I have no idea where to find the product key. If any of you know where to find the product key or how to fix the error (which reads: There was a problem resetting your PC no changes were made) then please let me know. Thanks!

I have an HP Pavilion. After almost a year of use I backed up my important pictures and files online. And decided to start a clean slate with my PC. I went into the "Settings," hit "Update and Security," I hit the "Recovery Tab," I hit "Reset Computer," and continued to hit, "Delete all files," and followed the directions according after, after it had said my computer was Reset, it restarted and showed a prompt that said something along the lines of, "Rest ptb or something" (it was like a BIOS prompt of some sort, PBT, I don't know what it was called exactly) I struck F1 as was promoted, and my computer has sat her for five hours now with an animated white dotted spinning wheel moving in circles over a black screen. How do I fix this? Do I wait? What's next? My Computer: http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/780196/HP-Pavilion-Laptop-156-Screen-Intel/
