I am trying to figure out how to make an action camera mounted on the outside of a vehicle to a computer inside of the vehicle, I am planning on using this Vehicle for Airsoft and the camera is going to be in a custom enclosure. I can run cables to it if needed. I was thinking of using this camera: https://tinyurl.com/4K-Action-Camera I also am trying to figure out how to make the camera stream to a screen while recording. If you have any suggestions they would be appreciated, Thanks

Budget & Location $400CAD (up to $500 if necessary, and to be realistic) ON, Canada Aim I went from an old pre-built HP Elite with a HD 5570 (2009 - 2011), to an Asus G73Sw gaming laptop (2011-2016), to the same HP Elite with a 750ti slapped in (2016 - Death by power surge, RIP). I'd like this build to play my backlog/to-play list at 1080p60 (excusing games that have poor optimization) with heavy modding. Eg. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Dark Souls 1-3, TES III - V, FO3 - NV, Dying Light. Future-proofing isn't a priority as I probably won't get through these games for five to six years. Monitor (budget $300 - 400CAD)(Entirely separate budget from the build, cannot be moved over) This may be better posted in the monitors section, but I could use help with this as well. I'm debating between one of: Non-Curved: LG 29UM69G-B, Dell U2917W Curved: LG 27CF591, LG 29UC88-B I have no opinion on curved monitors at this point, and find 34-inches a bit too big. Peripherals I have a Logitech M510 and have no plans to buy a keyboard until I can find one on sale, probably refurbished on newegg Why I am Upgrading My wife and I are trying to separate our fun spaces from our work spaces, which means I'll be removing every one of my games (at the moment, Darkest Dungeon and HL1 + mods) from my work laptop (Asus E403SA). I'm focusing on a mITX build out of curiosity, and because the portability will be nice when travelling for school and work. Here is my current plan: CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1400 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($150.00) Motherboard: Gigabyte - GA-AB350N-Gaming WIFI (rev. 1.0) Mini ITX AM4 Motherboard ($120.00) Memory: Crucial - 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2133 Memory ($80.00) Storage: Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (Purchased For $0.00) Video Card: Zotac - GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB Mini Video Card ($140) Case: Fractal Design - Define Nano S Mini ITX Desktop Case ($80.00) Power Supply: EVGA - 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($40.00) Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit (Purchased For $0.00) Headphones: Sennheiser - HD 598 CS Headphones (Purchased For $0.00) External Storage: Seagate - Backup Plus Slim 2TB External Hard Drive (Purchased For $0.00) Total: $610 Is it possible to save any more money on this build, given its aim? And if not, are there any better parts at a similar price that I can swap the above for? UPDATE 1: Swapped out Crucial 1x8GB for 2x4GB UPDATE 2: Swapped out G4560 for Ryzen 5 1400 UPDATE 3: Swapped out B250 Pro for B350 UPDATE 4: Swapped out EVGA 1050 Ti SSC for Zotac 1050 Ti Mini

I have a RFID-RC522 hooked up to an Arduino so I can read RFID tags. I would like to be able to use the NFC in my iPhone to be read by the reader and have it do something based on the programming. Is this possible or do I need to get a NFC reader? Apple has the API released to use the NFC in an iPhone called Core NFC so I should be able to code the NFC on my phone.

Hello one and all, I am currently working on a home server / NAS system for the family. Specs are not a problem, but what i am having trouble figuring out is what OS to use. I am hoping to be able to use the server as a server, and not just a NAS, hosting test servers etc. for hobby work. The Main function of the server is going to be network attached storage - is it possible to use an OS such as Windows Server or just a standard windows OS to host a NAS in the way that FreeNAS would? Or am i going to have to ditch the hobby bit and just use FreeNAS? Thank you for reading this and i would be interested in finding out what home server's you've got if you've got one. So far i've been given a £300 budget, along with anything i can spare for a couple months in order to build the box. Thank you and Kind Regards, ~Lucas Madden

Hey, so I used to be really into the RC hobby when I was younger but I switched when I was probably 15 to computers since both are expensive hobbies, computers can be useful for more things, and so I left the RC hobby. I'm really interested in getting back into it but I'd feel weird driving an RC car as a 24 year old male by myself. I was wondering if anyone on here was in the greater Boston area or knew of any groups in the area I could talk to?

Hello everyone and greetings from Mexico. My name is David, currently i am 19 years old and I am studying big data at a local univeristy called "Tec de Monterrey". Lately technology has been one of the topics i enjoy to talk about and I have considering starting a cannel in which i can explain terms in a funny way or to show gadgets i find in stores or online that i consider interesting. First of all, i wont copy the style of anyone making videos out there, because that wouldn´t be fair and it is not my intention, i want to have my own personallity and being recognized for myself. The thing is, because i am a student i don´t have a job and my Budget is very restricted and second, college consume most of my time. In a couple of days i will end my current semester and finally will have some free time. If anyone out there could recommend me a video editor software, i would appreciate it. My laptop has the following specs: Intel core i7 6500u at 2.5ghz, 8gb of ddr3l ram, amd r5 m335 gpu and 1tb hdd (i will ask an ssd to my parents for christmas). For camera i have two, a Panasonic HDC-HS20 (records at 1080p) and a Canon SX170 IS, also my iPhone 6 if that is considered a camera. But what worries me the most is not being capable of buying products due to my limited Budget, so if anyone could help me with ideas of what i can do to get started without breaking the bank, he or she will have my total grattitude. Thank you for Reading and have a nice day.

Well... where to start? Hi, I'm a 22 overly-cheerful person who loves the world of technology and art. Got the hobby from my dad, and my uncle's brother, which was really into art. I recently finished my B.A. on Science of Arts and Video Games, and I took it as a complementary concentration, but mostly because it gives a lot of opportunities in the art industry as it teaches you different areas of the same branch. About my nickname? Well, it all started when I was young, my grandmother gave me a SNES when I was 3, and yes my grandmother is a gamer and still plays hardcore games. And so I was fascinated by the structure and mechanics instead of the game itself. As I got older, I've made enough research that I ended up learning more about Japan, and at that time I watched a movie called Matrix, which mixed up and... You get the picture. So how did I get here? Funny you should ask, I'm very picky when it comes to tech and especially if it's for me. I love to learn new stuff, no matter the dilemma, I go for it. Before graduating from university, I wanted to build my first PC, I wanted something really good, but my budget at that time wasn't enough, and so I decided to make it after graduating, and that time is this time. And what best place to learn than in YouTube, and looking at LinusTechTips not only taught me on how to build, but on how to succeed when it comes to the world of computers and engineering. What I do now? I thank God for everything that I am now; I'm a video editor at a television and radio network company. I'm a thinker, a builder, an artist, a writer, a designer and a computer novice when it comes to my free time. I'm an overly-cheerful friend when it comes to socializing, and so now I start my life with the future of my passion, making my dreams a reality. See you around, hope to get to know this community. Thanks Linus for the videos, they are of great help. Sincerely, NeoHikamaru

Hey guys and gals, I have a pretty out-there question about a water cooling loop I want to try out. It's actually not a true cooling loop, as it isn't cooling anything! It'll be a pump, a reservoir, and a butt-load of tubing. I want to have this set up on my wall and string the tubing in all sorts of designs. Figured I'd use 5/8"od--1/2"id clear plastic tubing. Then, I want to run some of the Aurora fluid through the loop continuously. I'd expect it to last about 3 yrs before something could be expected to need maintenance, but I know that getting into it. Does anyone have experience doing anything nuts like this? How should I gauge what strength pump and size res to use?? Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm 100% sure that tech forum is definetely a wrong place to post this. So I am a high school student and I have recently got interested in physical excercise (not sure what is the correct term) and I go to gym about 4 times a week and I feel like it isn't enough. Is there any more hobbies/pastimes that I couöd take part in? I was thinking about football or floorball but the thing is that I can't play either of those sports... I can kick a ball though... I am really shy so I don't like talking to strangers but then I could make friends if I played some kind of games in a team. Would it be a good thing to start playing?

Welcome to the new LinusTechTips Hobby Grade Remote Control thread! **Please Don't Quote Pictures!** What is Hobby Grade RC? Hobby grade RC's are not toys. they are fairly costly and require maintenance. However, they are customizable and lots of fun to run! What is this thread for? Post about RC! Show off your vehicles, ask questions, really anything related I currently own two RC's: Redcat Racing Tornado EPX: It needs a new ESC and Motor, 2s Lipo(s) with a charger, new front bumper and a new carbon fiber spoiler assembly. Cool little buggy though for $200. Redcat Racing Volcano S30: Don't have any pictures at the moment, as its in pieces needs a new gearbox and exhaust pipe. Pictures soon!

So watching people like Singularity do builds for clients made me wonder. How could I start my own little side hobby business just building PC's for people? It'd help cure my need for building wanting to build computers. I assume Craigslist. Of course. Is that the best way? Also, I see some people get sponsored to do builds. How do I get in on that? If anyone has this type of business and can help, that would be greatly appreciated.

Hey all, So recently, in between my exams and studying for countless hours I find myself bored. For example, this Tuesday I finished 2 exams and now I have a week off and since I'm in a different city (not at home), I can't find work or anything interesting to do. So I've been looking to pickup something. As a tech guy, like most of here are, I'm really into tech and anything tech related. I've recently bumped into one of those Wacom drawing boards and educated myself on how they work and how good they are. All in all, I'm impressed. And as someone that is a tech person I have horrible handwriting and very poor drawing skills (outside of CAD, schematics and projects) so I thought about learning something new, how to draw on paper and maybe later buy one of these tablets! It's something I've always wanted to learn but never bothered because it was time consuming and hard to learn (for me), but right now I'm looking for a challenge! I also thought I'd never learn to play an instrument, but I did... So I'm asking you, is this a good idea? Should I spend my time like this or look for another hobby? Where do I start? How do I start? Are there video tutorials? I find learning thru video tutorials much more effective. Any suggestions from any artist? Thanks in advance LTT community, Bogica

Hey guys, Well, as the title suggests, I'm thinking of re purposing some spare water cooling parts to make an air conditioner in the house. Just as people originally made computer water cooling out of car parts, and regular tubing. (radiators for example) I want to use computer water cooling parts for air conditioning. Before I explain myself I want to go ahead and say. This project in no way whatsoever will be "you can buy X for cheaper and Y is too overdone and you can do the same for Z". This is basically one of those "Why the heck not" kind of projects. To tackle this project, -I will be heading on over to home depot and grabbing some wood, acrylic, joints, screws, etc. The Box will be completely custom. -I will have all my parts housed in this one box (IE: Radiator, Pump, Tubing, and isolation) -I will use Ice and water as the coolant, -The Box being used will approximate in 12-15" long and more than 6" Wide. -Insulation will be used to prevent condensation. So, I face a few problems here after thinking of this. -Will the pumps be able to handle temperatures of plus/minus zero degrees Celsius? (There is no explicit info on any manufacture's website about this) -How comparable is the speed of pump of a computer water cooling pump to an aquarium pump? And acoustics. ( In general ) -I know Tap water has some significant effect on components in the loop. Will it be that significant? (I will replace the water in between each use) -If Tap water poses a problem, I will fill the box with distilled water, and then place a bag of ice in that water. -Any other suggestions would be awesome too. So, I think that's about it. If you have read up to this point, I give you my thanks, I wasn't sure if this was an appropriate question for this place. Thanks in advance, FroToast : D
