Hi all, I just picked up a new Pixel 7 and loaded both my email accounts onto it. One is a gmail account and the other is through a different domain for work. I'm getting notifications just fine for my gmail account, but the other isn't working. Once I open the app and switch to that account all the notifications come at once, but never when the emails actually arrive. The account has notifications enabled and is set to sync, and I've already disabled battery optimization for the app. Any other ideas? I had no issue getting push notifications for both accounts on my old phone. Thanks!

google Rossmann, Adalytics: Google AdSense is Scamming Customers?
thermalgoop posted a topic in Tech News
More YouTuber & Business™ news than strictly tech, but: Summary Earlier today, Louis Rossmann discussed a couple of in-depth reports alleging fraud on Google's part concerning their AdSense service. Specifically, the reports state that Google grossly misrepresented the environments in which an advertisement was served through their platform. Advertisement space that was sold as being exclusively on-platform YouTube video ads was routinely deployed as banner ads on third-party websites with minimal target interaction. If proven true once the lawyers weigh in, this will have a massive impact on AdSense and all who leverage it. Quotes My thoughts Wut the LTT gon do? I got my pixel 5a in October of 2021 after watching Riley's review of the phone on short circuit and off the bat it was miles ahead of the s8 I was using at the time. It worked great for about 8 months when they first BSOD occurred. I went to a youbreakifix and the first screen I get is a dud with multiple dead spots that only show up when you press directly on them and not when you swipe along them. I finely get a working screen and think nothing of it. Fast forward to March 2023. Im going to go check the price of something on ebay and my phone freezes up, so like what i usually do when something doesnt work i try to turn it off and on again. I try charging it, nothing. I try letting it discharge, nothing. So I reluctantly call up google support again angry that I got another BSOD and they say go to youbreakifix and they can fix it. I go to youbreakifix they tell me go ask google what do next, google say go back youbreakifix cause they can solve the BSOD. youbreakifix says they cant and go back to google and getting my problem raised to a high level repair tech they say that they will fix my phone, at no cost to me. I breathe a sigh of relief thinking this whole situation was over. NOPE. What followed was around 4 weeks of getting sent from rep to rep each saying contradicting things about if the repair was covered under warranty. In the end they basicly said we dont care more than half the reps and both of the repair tech's said if you want a working 5a send is $350 for a used one and that's the best we can offer you. So now i just have my Pixel 5a sitting in the carbord box google sent me to send it to them. I had heard that it possible fix what I assume is the real problem which is software causing phones that where improperly QCed to crack the solder balls of the cpu but im not sure it would even be worth the hassle. I was thinking of buying the pixel 7a a few months ago but after all the contradictions and rugpulls that google customer support threw on my im not even sure if its worth the hassle.

So last night I just casually chatting with my colleague, and it gotten to a food topic and I randomly asking if he have a friend coming home from Italy so he can bring some Parmesan cheese. And just this early morning I opened my YouTube app and open "Food" bar on my home screen to increase my breakfast appetite (I'm having a bad breakfast menu today), and voila, 3rd video recommendation showing a very specific topic I talked last night, PARMESAN CHEESE. For some context, I'm not into the specific food type of content, and just casually watch food related content to increase my appetite. Most food related videos I watch is eastern hemisphere cooking, so cheese is out of option here. The last time I watch about cheese content is around 3 years ago (based on my YouTube history). I curious if this happened because google is somehow keylogging my GBoard app, because WhatsApp claim that their chats is "end to end encrypted". I'm using fairly up to date android with recent security patch. I'm not using side-loaded app in this phone, and not being rooted or having unlocked bootloader etc. Any of you having similar situation happened to you? Tell it down below! Here's some picture for some detail (most conversation is censored for privacy reason):

Hi everyone, My dad just got a new phone (Galaxy S23), and had everything cloned off his old Samsung so he wouldn't have to deal with setup. But I think because of that, the folder that the messages app pulls from by default for sending photos, which is the "Recent" folder in the Samsumg gallery, is all out of order. Impossible to find anything. I know he can simply press "folders" and go find the "Camera" folder (or Google Photos) which still has all his photos in order, but it only allows you to select one photo to send at a time. He's often sending 10+ at once over text for work so that's extremely annoying. Is there a way to change the default folder for sending photos over text? Or to select multiple photos at once if he has to navigate to the right folder? Thanks!

Hi all. Does anyone know how to stop this Google boo hoo we can't track you bullshite? Everyday several times when I open my browser and search I have to do a damn recaptcha I'm guessing because I'm behind a VPN and they don't like it. Short of not using the VPN (not an option I want to stay behind it) how do I stop all the recaptcha garbage?

Hello, I want to ask if there is a way to fix the "Last Seen (Time) Ago" Currently an Android device is displaying last seen 1 hour ago. But it doesn't change or move. It always says 1 hour ago. I reinstalled the app but the problem still there.

Summary Jon Prosser leaked once again all the details of an upcoming smartphone release by Google in a video posted on Front Page Tech YouTube channel. This time it's about the upcoming Google Pixel Fold, which is of course Google's first foldable smartphone. 256GB $1799 512GB $1919 April 26th Pixel Fold Teaser May 10th Pre-Order (Google Store only) May 30th Pre-Order (Carriers) June 27th Available When pre-ordering a Fold Google will also send you a Pixel Watch Specs Quotes My thoughts The Google Pixel Fold "leaked" entirely. Who saw that coming? I want one, but it's simply too expensive. Usually I'd be the first one to pre-order this thing, but not at that price, even with the included Pixel Watch. Compared to this my Pixel 7 Pro looks cheap lol Also one thing is weird about this. Why does it apparently only record at 4K 30? The Pixel 7 Pro can do 4K 60. Sources

I tried a free trial on google cloud for VPS a year ago but terms and conditions are vague and what happens is that if you don't use your free credits (300 USD) it will charge your account with the amount you didn't use but if you use all amount of money it will charge you anyway. I got ripped off with 150+ usd by google for not using all the money, I'm from romania so 150+ usd means 670+ ron and maybe if I wasn't living in a poor country that 150 usd won't mean that much. The point of this post is because I saw google is trying to push google cloud in every aspects that points to developers like reCaptcha, google search api, console and more. Please if anyone from LTT reads this make a video about it, let people know so they don't have to get thru this. I'm not sure what google intensions are but not good that's for sure.

Google seems to be interested in growing a stronger connection between Android and Windows, but only as long as user's are tied to Google's technology. Now they have launched a beta for Nearby Share on Windows. Nearby Share is Google's own proprietary file sharing technology, which has already been available to Android Users since Android 11. The beta requires you to download an additional application and install it on your Windows PC. Screenshots My thoughts Yet another app for a functionality that both OS' already support. Windows has "Nearby Sharing" literally built in. Why is it not possible that Microsoft's technology works with Google's? Clearly both companies are interested in working together, as Microsoft has released the "Phone-Link for Windows" app a few years ago, which does not only help you to send files between Android and Windows devices, but also makes you able to make calls on your Windows device. Microsoft also decided to advertise Phone Link directly in the setup process of Windows 11. They clearly want a tighter integration of Android within Windows. And Google? It's great that they launched this beta and the app does work really well, but where is the integration with Chrome? Chrome has already functionality built in to send and receive website links to and from Android devices. To me it looks like neither Microsoft nor Google are interested in sacrificing their own technology to each other in favor of a better user experience. Can Linus please scream into the camera on WAN show for a minute and smash his phone onto the table as he always does? Makes me at least feel better seeing him being just as mad as I am about this crap. Hey LTT peeps, I don't know about you all, but I'm kinda angry the whole AI chatbot search situation. It seems like Google and Microsoft are pouring all their resources into making AI buddies who can answer questions for us when, in my opinion, they should be doubling down on their search engines. Am I the only one who feels like search engines are still pretty hit or miss? Sometimes, I'll type in a search query and I'll still get a whole bunch of irrelevant results just because a few keywords matched. I mean, c'mon, we're in 2023! Wouldn't it be amazing if Google (or Bing, for that matter) could actually understand what we're looking for when we type in a search prompt? Imagine if the search engine could read websites and only give us the results that are super relevant to our query. That's the dream, right? Not only would this be awesome for users like us, but it could actually be a huge win for Microsoft and Google, advertisers, and websites. By providing a better search experience, they'd keep users coming back, which in turn means more eyeballs on their ads. That's a win-win situation if I've ever seen one. Plus, with more relevant search results, businesses who advertise on their platforms would see better conversions, making them even more likely to continue investing in ads. Now, let's talk about the current way Bing works. It searches the web and only gives you an answer, without showing ads on its results page. This has some negative implications. Websites face problems because AIs are reading their content, using up traffic, and using the knowledge on the site, but there's no actual human traffic. That means nobody is seeing their ads or interacting with the website in any meaningful way. By focusing on improving search engines, Microsoft and Google could address these issues, leading to a healthier internet ecosystem overall. It's a win-win-win! So yeah, my point is that I think Microsoft and Google need to go back to their roots and focus on making their search engines truly great. Chatbots are cool and all, but they won't make our lives much easier if we still have to wade through a sea of irrelevant search results to find what we're looking for. Plus, it's a smart business move that benefits everyone involved! What do you guys think? Are you happy with the current state of search engines, or are you with me in wishing for some serious improvements? Let's get a discussion going! Cheers!

Hello, so about 1 and a half years ago I thought I found a sort of vaunerability with google maps and over the following months investigateted it further I will go into more details in a secound and would like a discussion and hear your thoughts but mainly I would like to have you informed about this issue because it could affect youreself. If I have spelling mistakes or my grammar is wrong please correct me English isn't my native language. I will update this Topic with mor detailed information when I get all of my notes together ^^ The "vulnerability" First of all I asked 2 companys which sad it isn't eligable for bug bounty so please don't spam random Companys with this article -thx When you are googleing a company or a location google will normaly show you the Google Buisness information that they gathered by helpful locals or websites so google is able to display the Information to you. The Problem is that (at least in my county Germany and I think in others as well) Buisnisses don't claim there Buisness on Google, that leads to the problem that -someone- could enter false Information. To be fair depending on how drastic your changes are to the data that google shows more people will have to report or confirm that information. I don't know how to programm a bot who could do that, but I have had time so I tried how much you could change and found this: Change the Telephone number by 1 number: 1 User Change the thelephone number by 2 numbers: 1 User (sometimes 2) Change the telephone number by more than 2 numbers: Changes drasticly from buisness to buisness but arround 10 Users with local guide or 18 without To change the website I think arround 5 Users have to say the same thing and the website has to have the buisness information. -I didn't focus on this as much as on the thelephone number why will be described in a secound. The Problem with chainging the telephone number: When a telephone number is active on a location/ buisness it takes about [2-8] months for the Claim your buisness function to accept verivication by telephone again. A Person with malishes intend could use a telephone numer and send every incoming call automaticly back to the original number so noby would notice that this would be the wrong number NOBODY CHECKS A WORKING PHONE NUMBER IF ITS "REAL" OR NOT The second you are able to verify via phone number you could turn the call forwarding off to recive the call and verify a buisness wich isn't yours. When you verivied that you "own" that location/ buisness you are able to cainge the information shown on google without confirmation That leads to one of the main vulnerabilitis: You can change the Buisness Website to a simular domain wich 1 Displays a fake website to grab Information 2 Have a cookie grabber and forward you to the real website you the user wouldnt notice The other main vulnerability is that nobody questions if the google bisnes owner is the real buisness owner so you could post events and discounts on the google page this would lead to a lot op upset custimers and a bad buisness reputation. The thired one is that [I think] you could record the calls that you would forward to the other number if you would connect them vai your server but I'm not shure about this last one because to be honest I don't have the tecincal epertise but would like to here from you if you are more skiled in this topic. How to protect youreself: You don't really have another choice as to claim your google buisness and check your data regulary This also apllies if you are not a buisness in case you are a cities office or something like that you may have to ability to take out the ability that people change your data but not shure (again) Before I posted this I talked to my local Police and a few buisnesses who are effected I can't contact all of you and I really want to make shure nobody will be harmed by this so I wanted to get the word out. If you have any questions or something like that feel free to ask I will make a reddit thread as well but its late and I probibly will post the link here tomorrow Reposts and follow ups are hoped for I you do I would love some credit ^^ Stay save Fabian

Hey! So I'm in a Discord server and I wanted to share some cute videos of my sister's bunny with them. I don't have Discord Nitro so my file-size is limited to 8 MB, and the videos were ~50 MB á piece, so I figured I'd just upload them onto Google Drive and make some public links. So some people freaked out, saying I basically just doxed myself and anyone who clicks the links. Personally, I know when they open the links they can see the email address of the person who owns it, and the name tied to that account. But that's basically it (I thought). These people were saying anyone who clicks those links are doxing their names, connected e-mails, billing addresses, etc. etc. just all kinds of personal information. Anyway, the server mods removed the links and said if I was alright with doxing myself that's one thing, but if it doxes anyone who clicks the links, that's not okay. Fair enough, I certainly don't want to accidentally trick anyone into sharing anything out of privacy concerns. This post isn't about drama... I'm just honestly curious if it's true that a public G-Drive link gives everyone access to that much personal information? It seems very unlikely to me. I know personally I wasn't able to see whenever anyone else was on that link. There's also a difference between a shared file and a shared link, where a file/doc/etc. share does show everyone's e-mails or "anonymous animals" if not logged in. But I suppose it's possible that someone much more tech-savvy than I could have access to that stuff if they really wanted to.

Over the last couple days, key Google apps, including Google Search and Gmail, and some third-party apps have been non-functional for many Android users. The culprit seems to be Google's WebView app. Over the last couple days, Android devices of all kinds were experiencing constant app crashes, both of Google's own first-party apps and some third-party apps that rely on Google's WebView system component app. The issue seems to have been related to updates with Google Chrome and a Google app called "WebView."1 According to an official report by Google, the app crashes "affected a significant subset of users." It is currently unknown if every user with the update Chrome and WebView apps fell victim to the bug, but there were widespread reports from affected users of devices from different manufacturers, so it appears to not have been isolated to any particular incompatibility with devices. To understand why multiple apps were affected by the bug, it helps to understand what the WebView app actually does. WebView is a vital part of the modern Android OS that allows apps to display web content while a user is in the app.2 The WebView app is a code library that developers can leverage to build their apps. In programming, a library is a dev's version of a real, physical library. Instead of books, files and snippets of code that perform certain functions are made available to developers so that their apps can benefit from using code that is already written instead of having to reinvent the wheel. There are several reasons why a developer might want to use a code library. Among these are the ability to make apps more compact, easier and faster to develop, and perhaps most importantly to the developer--libraries allow for greater abstraction. Abstraction of code refers to the process of making code less specific to a certain task and generally also makes it more legible and easier to troubleshoot as well as faster to write. For example, if a certain section of code will be used many times in a program, a developer might define that section of code as a function, module, or the equivalent in whatever language the code is in. Now that the section of code has been defined, it can be referenced any time it is needed for its purpose. Often, such function definitions will be placed in separate files, and a collection of these is called a "library." Google's WebView functions as a library that developers from Google and other software companies can use to display web content while in the confines of a given app. Many apps that have interfaces that function like the Chrome app rely on this functionality of WebView. A bug introduced in the WebView app will affect any app that uses the affected code. Since users don't directly launch the WebView app, it can be hard to pin down the actual culprit of such a bug. Developers can't just rely on user reports of WebView crashing; they have to instead find commonality between the crashes to find the root of the problem. Thankfully, with so many users and apps affected, Google was able to issue a fix within a day of the initial reports, which is to make sure that users' WebView and Chrome apps are up-to-date.1,3,4 Initially, users were being advised to roll back the updates to WebView via the "Uninstall" button in the Google Play Store.3 This article's author personally attempted resolving issues on the six devices of various owners with five of the attempts being successful on the newest devices, and the one failure being on the oldest device (a Galaxy S7 Edge). It seems that another temporary remedy for some older devices that have the WebView app permanently disabled was to uninstall updates to the "Google" and/or Chrome apps. This disparity of resolution between devices of different ages could be related to how the integration of WebView in Android has changed over time.2 Android users are encouraged to attempt to update their Chrome and WebView apps via the Play Store and developers should report any further issues to Google via the Android Issue Tracker.5 If your device does not function correctly after updating the affected apps, please give details about your device in the comments below. Sources Google Workspace Status Dashboard: Gmail - Service Details TechTarget: "What is Android WebView ? (sic)" 9To5Google: "PSA: If your Android apps keep crashing, update ‘WebView’ and Chrome [Permanent fix]" CNET: "Gmail and other Android apps crashing on phones: Here's Google's simple fix" Android Open Source Project: "Reporting Bugs" The article image is a composite image composed of a modified version of the WebView app icon and a modified CC licensed "bug" clip-art. The composite image was produced by the article's author and may not be used for commercial use without the owner's permission.

anyone know how to get rid of the bar right above the search bar? the one that has phone, text, contacts, Google chrome, and camera. No matter where you swipe it stays there, I would like it to just stay on the screen that it's on if that makes sense. I know this is more of a computer site but maybe someone knows what to do? Thank you

Just found out this extension got removed from the chrome store due to malware. Anyone know if this is confirmed or suspected? The jist appears to be the app changed hands and then some closed-source code was added after-the-fact. At the very least it's suspicious. To quote IAmMarcellus: "Could @deanoemcke be held liable for any of this? Not only did he hand over the software to a malicious 3rd party, not disclose who they were, and lie about the code always being available for review on github, he also integrated a closed-source library for tracking user information well before handing it over: #1311 (comment), meaning that he didn't just empower a malicous actor, he also acted malicously himself." https://github.com/greatsuspender/thegreatsuspender/issues/1175

Summary Apple redirects Google Safe Browsing traffic through its own proxy servers to prevent disclosing users’ IP addresses to Google in iOS 14.5 Apple’s privacy push is much more widespread than it seems at the surface. A perfect example is the new privacy feature in iOS 14.5 Beta 1 (V2) which redirects Google Safe Browsing traffic through Apple’s own proxy servers to enhance users’ privacy and to not let Google see your IP address. Quotes My thoughts Well, if this increases user’s privacy I’m all for it. Apple already has my ip, among other private information, and preventing third parties for getting that info is good, I recon. How would Google take this “intervention” will definitely be interesting Sources https://the8-bit.com/apple-proxies-google-safe-browsing-privacy/

Seeing that most TVs today use AndroidTV and have the support and are powerful enough, why don't they come with Touchscreen input? Besides the potential cost of manufacturing a 45" or greater touch panel, I can't see why not. I mean, I get it that it's not needed when I ask myself if 'it's necessary'? It definitely isn't but it will be a nice to have. Imagine using it as a whiteboard or big wall painting thing. Or something for artists for something like wall murals. I can see myself using it to navigate the UI if it ever comes to be. Besides the potential increase in the cost to mass produce the panels, what is preventing them from going mainstream?

Summary Terraria port on stadia has been cancelled, Andrew Spinsk announced on Twitter, after the game's co-creator Andrew Spinks' Google account was disabled three weeks ago due ToS violation. Spinks has attempted to contact Google to only recive runarounds. Terraria youtube account was disabled earlier in january. He stated that ties between him and Google are cut and he won't be supporting Googles platforms in future. This could mean the removal of Terraria from Google Play Store. Google is yet to make official statement. Quotes My thoughts Terraria is alredy well regarded game and has sold over 30 million copies across all platforms, so not being in Stadia won't hurt Re-Logic, but Google needs good games on Stadia to compete. I hope that Google and Spinks resolve thsi privately. The worst case scenario is that Terraria will also be removed from Google Play Store. I too, think this might have not happened had Google employed people to check for possible false positives in ToS violation cases and to help in cases like this. Before Google Chrome in 2009, we had Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera (and opera mobile) and Firefox. Then Chrome came along and people gobbled it up because it's the first thing they see when they go to that homepage. Everybody thought oh Google I know them they make the Internet or something. This should be the best ever--and it's free! Mozilla Firefox usage took a nose-dive because there wasn't equal amounts of advertising (especially on television with chromecast and then chromeboooks with that familiar chrome logo). This was and is NOT because Chrome is better, in fact many people say it eats rams for breakfast lunch dinner and a dessert with many tabs open. Firefox is open-source and Mozilla, the company producing the browser just laid off 150--that's actually 250 https://www.protocol.com/mozilla-layoffs developers and you can read the rest. On iOS devices, (which are quality software, no disrespect) the Firefox browser can not use its opensource Gecko rendering engine. It's forced to render with Apple's WebKit engine which (probably has zero firefox users on apple) *could* reduce mobile firefox use numbers. Chrome is default on android and every browser except firefox will use WebView (not to be confused with Apple's webkit) or chrome which uses Blink. Microsoft Edge also uses Blink because it's using Chromium as the code behind it instead of EdgeHTML. Why does any of this matter? Do you want to see the internet dominated by a piece of software from a company whose profit comes from mining your data to target you with relevant ads? Google doesn't care about your privacy online--they make money from the very opposite of that! To learn more, here's an EFF (Electronic Frontier) article that goes VERY deep into this rabbit hole: https://www.eff.org/wp/school-issued-devices-and-student-privacy I hope you all choose to support a clean privacy-minded web rather than one dominated by Google.
