Hello good people, I am in the process of making the switch from Mac to the ‘Darkside’ and I’m in the need of some advice and suggestions for a quality Antivirus package that doesn’t take a toll on your system’s resources. live spent the last few hours reading multiple websites full of reviews, which all seem to give conflicting recommendations, along with being difficult to identify if I’m reading an ‘advertisement’ disguised to look like a review or are giving biased opinions because the writer has been given a ‘free key.’ I’ve been using Avast (free version) on my Mac’s but I am sick and tired of the continuos bombardment of pop-ups trying to get me to give them money - and I suspect this will be no different with the Win10 version - no thank you. . i have also read through the most recent posts that others have put up asking a similar question as myself, but so far I’ve not found a clear winning package recommended, over and above of Windows Defender. From all of the YTubes I’ve watched and the sites I’ve looked at, I am considering ESET - has anybody had any real-world experience of this package? Interested in reading people’s suggestions on this topic. Thanks in advance for your help and advice. -
I just built a new Gaming PC, and I'm wondering what you all think the best anti-virus software would be for a gaming setup. I dont want it to be running a million things in the background slowing performance and pop-ups. I saw one called bitdefender i believe, and obviously norton and mcaffee. I just am looking for advice from people who have tried and tested these programs. THANKS in advance!

So, I downloaded a game (Non Steam , although i do have steam).... and windows smart screen blocked ALL *.dll files in the ENTIRE folder (over 300). any way to unblock them all which does not include clicking each one > properties > unblock > apply?

I just cleaned my computer out of some nasty adware that used up to 16GB of RAM and 100% of my processor to keep shoving pop-ups on screen. No more pop-ups, but I feel this issue may still be related to the virus I got. YouTube will not load. On any browser. I've tried Firefox, Edge, and Chrome, all have the same issue, as seen in the first attached image. In addition, using Google as my default search engine seems to have given up. The malware first hijacked all browsers and changed the default search engine, but after switching back to Google, it suddenly doesn't work, as seen in the second attached image. Though you'll see in the third image that using google.ca specifically will solve the issue, but adds an extra step in getting where I need to go. What's going on here?

Hi everyone, Can someone inform me how to push ESET's endpoint antivirus software to 4 client computers via a server running Windows Server 2011? All 4 of the clients are running Windows 7. It's a small office environment. What ESET interface do I use to the push the antivirus software to the clients? Anything potentially unforeseen I should know? Thank you for any help you can give. -

This month our subscription to Panda Security will lapse and now i will have to decide to either renew with them. Or find another. Panda is the evil i know so i know what it quirks are and how to deal with them. For example: We use alot of custom software for programming Electronics that causes a lot of false positives. So is there an alternative for Panda thats more easy to setup to ignore certain files (without it auto deleting it and asking me afterwards). This would be for 1 Server, 4 Workstations and 3 Laptops. The Laptops will not have internet most of the times. So any antivirus that you can only manage online is off the table. Anyone else here with a small business has some good experiences?

Hi, Just been using the latest version of windows 10, an just exploring the new windows defender. Because usually I use bit defender for Anti Virus and Malwarebytes for anti malware. Has windows finally stepped up there security in the new windows defender? I like to hear your thoughts and experiences with windows defender from performance and security. Cheers.

Hey, so I just purchased a new PC and I'm trying to decide on the best security program to get. Preferably I would like a program (or programs) that is free, but I am willing to pay for a good antivirus if it is highly recommended. I would greatly appreciate some good recommendations to help keep my new PC safe! Thanks! -
Hi, my friend told me about Sophos antivirus and i use Avast Free antivirus. my plan is to see which one is better for my home computer use. i do work on computers for friends and i will still be using avast as it does not require an account. Sophos is nice because it allows me to start full system scans remotely from the website. but the question is which one is better. i am willing to try it at least so either way i am going to move away from avast for a little while anyway but still. Any opinions?

Hello, so I have recently commited to buying paid version of antivirus system and I was using windows defender but it was useless so I switch to malwarebytes but my trial has expired. I dont know if to pay for their premium version which is good price or if there is any better antivirus software out there. Please help me because I have dealt with virus's before and I don't want them to happen again. Is malware-bytes a reputable company or is there anything better for around the same price? Thanks

Greetings. How much of an impact does your antivirus have on your boot time? I moved from AVG's free version to Avast's free version, and was curious as to how much time an antivirus would add to the boot time if it was enabled as a startup process. Is the 'BIOS time' indicator in the corner of the startup menu an accurate representation of this? Regards, Aereldor.

So the other day I accidentally downloaded a particularly tough Trojan that is resisting all attempts to remove it. It is blocking all antivirus and anti malware software from running, windows defender can't seem to remove it, and I have also tried to manually delete it in file explorer but it says I need admin permissions, even though it is my PC and I am admin. It doesn't appear to be doing anything other than keeping antivirus software from running, but that in itself is worrying. I have also tried AVG chameleon but that didn't work either. I am on windows 10, can I please get some suggestions? Edit: I forgot to mention, it is calling itself a driver with the name NDISTPR64.SYS

Hi all.. wanted to know what precautions I should take/consider before burning a windows iso file to a dvd in an infected PC so that the dvd doesn't get any virus/malware during the burning process. I have installed antivirus and antimalware programs and scanned the system. I used Norton Deluxe, Bitdefender free version and malwarebytes free version, one after another and removed as much as these programs detected. But I doubt that some virus/malware might still be present (right?) as I used the free versions of these programs. Now I am about to burn windows 10 creators update iso which I got from - http://windowsiso.net/windows-10-iso/windows-10-creators-update-1703-download-build-15063/ (this is a safe site right?) I scanned this iso file as well and it didn't had anything malicious according to the mentioned programs. So, I want burn this iso file into a dvd using ImgBurn. Is there anything else I need to do other than virus scan from three programs to make sure the dvd doesn't get infected from any of the remaining undetected virus/malware? (I know after using three programs, I shouldn't be this paranoid but they are free versions so... ) -

In a funny issue affecting some Avast free antivirus version users, the most recent update released on Wednesday night is blocking internet access... From the Bleeping Computers article: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/software/avast-antivirus-update-blocks-internet-access/ So it appears that in order to file a complaint to Avast, you need to disable your antivirus in order to get online. As for a 'fix', it appears that you have to uninstall Avast, re-download and install it. I guess one thing that can be said, is if you're not online, you won't download a virus. UPDATE: So an Avast spokesperson got a hold of Bleeping Computers with the following statement: A question that pops into my mind immediately is if the original update broke the link to the internet then how are they going to roll out a patch to the computers?

I got a new system a few weeks ago. i installed Windows 10 and Avast Free, and proceeded to use my computer as i always do, a few days later, i started getting redirected to random website when i use google or n4g.com, so i just went and formatted and installed Windows 10 again, after a few days same thing happened again!I tried MalwareByte AntiMalware, MalwareByte RootKit, HitmanPro, AdwCleaner. and still nothing.MalwareByte block redirection to website like mobrevflwms.com but does not detect anything while scanningI only visite trusted website like youtube, facebook, n4g.com, instagram etc, so i don't know where i keep getting infected.Any help, please!

"Antimalware service executable" is CONSTANTLY running on my laptop, and since it's a pretty old, weak machine, it gets up to around 40% CPU usage. It also seems to take up about 2GB of space when it's running, and is constantly writing to my SSD. Not ok. So I went into settings and disabled Windows defender's real-time protection, which fixed the issue. The exe is still running but no longer using more than 2% of CPU and not writing to the disk. Also the 2GB of storage it was taking up magically reappeared when I turned this off. After a few days, however, I booted up the laptop and noticed it had turned itself back on. It's done this several times since: Taking up CPU and disk usage again, as well as that random 2GB of space. I basically have to go in and turn it off once every 3-5 days. Does anyone know a fix so I can ACTUALLY PERMANENTLY disable this garbage?

Hey guys, So I'm running BitDefender on pretty much everything. I run it on all my desktops, laptops, Androids, etc etc. A few months ago, BitDefender started becoming overtly intrusive. It started spiking resources, it wouldn't let me browse certain websites, it denied GTA Online any sort of traffic so I couldn't play. Eventually through it all, I said to heck with it and uninstalled it and immediately all my woes were gone. Now recently, Windows Defender (thanks to Windows 10) is started tanking my resources, and I've just lost faith in AntiVirus in general. So I swallowed my pride and reinstalled BitDefender thinking maybe the new 2017 update will cure some of the issues. Well, no, actually, it hasn't. Still can't connect to certain websites, including my own home router at its local IP Address, can't connect to GTA Online and other game servers, having slower browsing and higher latency; OH, and this is after disabling ALL of the modules and security settings I have access to in BitDefender, per a technical support guy at BitDefender saying to try and reactivate them one at a time once everything started working again. Well, I did that, and still everything is not working. Anyone have this kind of issue with BitDefender? Should I just give up? I mean, I'm not asking for much, am I? I'd even take AntiVirus recommendations at this point, despite having paid for it and having over 200 days left on my subscription.

So I currently use the free windows defender antivirus. I want a better one, but I don't want to pay for it. I tried Avast and it slowed down my computer and a lot of it's features required money. Does anybody know of a decent Antivirus program that's free, works well, and doesn't slow down my computer too much?

Hi! I use Norton as my antivirus program and i have used it for years. I actually like it a lot and I have never really had any problems with it other than the price... It's expensive as h***. I have heard that it's not good for gaming computers as it affects performance a lot. What is the best, free antivirus program for gaming? I have heard that Avast is very good, but I dunno...

Which is powerful ? Defender or Other Antivirus ? then what is it you recommend? Because evertime a Malware Attacks my PC , i feel like windows defender is having hard time handling it. So is it really worth buying other Anti Virus out there ? or is it same everywhere ?
