Hey All, this is my first time switching to an AMD processor and a msi mpg x570 motherboard. So as I was tuning the settings, I came to a stable 1.32v 4.7Ghz all cores for my 5800x while running cpuz's stress test, after 3-5 mins the core voltage shown in cpuz dropped to 1.28v while the benchmark score stayed the same, and the temperature was fine (69C at 10 mins mark) I wonder what could be the cause of this particular situation, since it seems to have no impact on the general performance at all. Also I was using override mode though I saw there was a "AMD Overclocking" mode, wonder what difference it has from override mode

hello everyone :) so i am gonna build an extremely budget friendly pc so i was wondering which mobo to get. i can buy Ryzen 3600 or Ryzen 5600X and the guy i am buying from can easily update my bios for ryzen 5600x after the bios releases both have same audio configs while asrock has creative sound cinema 5 also regarding vrm's, asrocks are proven to be better than gigabyte by gamer nexus i will use hyper 212 led cpu cooler as well and has good cabinet cooling with 5 fans and has corsair vs550 psu but main question is which motherboard to get asrock or gigabyte Thanks !

Should I upgrade my CPU? CPU: i5 6500 GPU: gtx 1660 super RAM: 16gb ram PSU: 500w bronze from evga I have been thinking about upgrading my Cpu for a long time, and since black friday sales are still going on I think its a great time to upgrade. I was wondering what would be a good upgrade from my i5 6500. I mostly game on my pc, but since im a engineering undergrad, I have to use soildworks, autocad, and do a bit of coding. My budget for a new CPU is $350 CAD or less. My options i was thinking about was a i5 9600k, i7 9700k, Ryzen 5 3600, Ryzen 7 2700x.

Hey guys, I'm looking at CPUs and was wondering if there was any significant performance difference between the Ryzen 5 2600 and the Ryzen 3 3300x? Any big differences in gaming performance for not AAA titles or benchmarking? I understand the jump from 4c/8t to 6c/12t, but in most circumstances, does that make much of a difference or is it "more is better because it is"? And I know that the 3300x has overclocking support but all AMD ryzen chips are unlocked so does that make much of a difference if a minor over clock or just stock settings are in place?

Just switched from Intel to AMD, and hwinfo looks a bit different. What is the right temperature to trust? Is it ''CPU Die (average)''? (See image) Thanks

I just aquired a Ryzen 3 2200g and, when I pulled out the stock cooler the themal paste seems to have some orange spots that look like some sort of mold (see photo). I assume that, being such and old cpu it was stored for a long time and maybe that is why this happened. However such a sight is new to me. Has anyone ever seen something like this before? I couldn't find anything online.

Hi guys, I'm looking to get a CPU upgrade. I currently have an i7-4790 that is bottlenecking my GTX 1070 in some CPU intensive games. I needed a new and stronger CPU anyways since i do more on my PC than just playing video games. I also plan to get a 3070 in the coming year. So I'm currently deciding within 2 CPUs. Ryzen 7 3700X and Ryzen 5 5600X. The 5600X is out of stock everywhere and those that are selling it are selling it for $50USD more than what the 3700x costs. I'm pretty satisfied with the 3700X's gaming performance even though it's not on par with the 5600X. Also, The 3700X is still better in some multi-threaded results according to a few videos on youtube. The 3700X is easily available and sounds like a good enough upgrade to me (not to mention it's also 50$ cheaper than 5600X). Also need reccomendations for a good board for it (one that is also compatible with 5000 series AMD cpus). My budget for the board is around 150$-170$.

I have new+used parts computer just built. But after few hours of use and of course some benchmarks I found there are too many crashes. This include Cinebench R20 sometimes just popup an error when I click RUN and fail to start benchmark. Sometimes after that popup I close and reopen it and it run, sometimes after I close popup I get blue screen and it have different error message, not always one and same. Other programs also sometimes just crash with or without some error they show up. I did full MemTest64 and no errors. But when I try Prime95 almost instantly I get error at Worker 20 (sometimes 2-3 sec after test start, sometimes up to a minute). Soon after Worker 19 usually also result an error. [Nov 21 03:10] Worker starting [Nov 21 03:10] Beginning a continuous self-test on your computer. [Nov 21 03:10] Please read stress.txt. Choose Test/Stop to end this test. [Nov 21 03:10] Test 1, 31000 Lucas-Lehmer iterations of M9537183 using FMA3 FFT length 480K, Pass1=384, Pass2=1280, clm=1. [Nov 21 03:10] FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4 [Nov 21 03:11] Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file. [Nov 21 03:11] Torture Test completed 0 tests in 0 minutes - 1 errors, 0 warnings. [Nov 21 03:11] Worker stopped. After some experiments I found this: If I remove on of two RAM sticks - I don't get and error (at least at 2-3 min test, as it usually show up in first seconds). I did test both sticks one by one at all 4 slots and also in all combination of both sticks at once. Include in single channel mode. No matter how, if two sticks - error, if one - it works at any slot. No matter if at 2144Mhz or at XMP 3200MHz as advertised - Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB (2x8GB) 3200Mhz - brand new out of the box. My configuration: CPU: Ryzen 9 3900x (stock, no overclocking) - used, of course under 2 more years warranty MB: MSI B450 Tomahawk Max - brand new out of the box, BIOS not touched/default. No XMP, no overclocks, nothing, all default. Even reset just to be sure not touched before sent to me. RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB (2x8GB) 3200Mhz PSU: recommended at top of the list at LTT forum - Bitfenix Whisper Gold 750W - used, but was working fine so far, before moved to this system. VID: GTX 1060 3GB or ASUS EAH5450 (fanless, no power) - just to eliminate any doubts PSU can't power system with 1060 (while I am sure it is way above power needed for this system). So I need help, any advice what may case this crashes and wrong calculations (as they happen at important scientific software too). I can't locate which part to blame - is it RAM (new, works any stick independently, just not if both at once), MB failing to support both sticks (BIOS, power settings - they should work with default, right, why need to up volts for RAM on brand new MB), or CPU failing at dual channel ... so I have no idea which part to send for fixing or replacement under warranty - they are all from different online stores here in my country. Still - is it possible to be PSU - only part without warranty ... Problem is it was hard to get all this parts already, I have no way to get more to test - like other RAM sticks, other MB, other CPU of same kind, or even PSU (other one is very old 400W Seasonic - it will have no enough power to run tests also 4 pin MB instead of 6 pin B450 have). None of my friends have anything to help me test, by changing parts and try locate it this way. So I am limited with what I have and any software I can get. And hoping for my favorite Youtube LTT for help or at least any point/advice I can follow to locate issue. Other than just send all warranty parts to their stores and they find they are OK and I have to pay all deliveries + penalty for repair work/tests of perfect part. Cheers from Bulgaria!

Hi, So I’m trying to pick out a psu for my 6800 and 5600x, I’ll be using 32 gb DDR4 rgb, and air cooling with the stock wraith stealth cooler for now. Case will probably be the nzxt h510i and looking for a 1tb ssd. I am confused as to which psu to go with. Are any of these good, and if so, which out of them would you recommend? - Corsair RMx Series RM850x 80 PLUS Gold Fully Modular (good sale price) - Seasonic FOCUS Plus Series 750W 80+ Gold ATX12V (No sale) - Gigabyte GP-P750GM 750w 80+ Gold Modular Power Supply (Cheapest) - EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G1+, 80 Plus Gold 750W (more expensive then the rest) My budget is under $200 CAD, ideally under $160. Thank you very much!

Hi, My system crashes and reboots whenever I try starting a game. I have tried every game I have and the only game that sometimes starts up is DOOM and Doom Eternal. FFXIV is really bad and crashes as soon as I hit play. I have used the G9 monitor without problems since May running it at max settings , but I wanted to add a second monitor. As soon as I added the second monitor it started to crash. When I disconnect everything it works fine again. I can use both screens just fine as long as I don't start a game. I have tried a few different monitors, reinstalled the GPU driver , switched to different HDMI / DP-cables, tried new PSU cables. Checked the power draw up to the crash moment but it don't even jump over idle on the PSU before it crashes ( iCue 144W + - some on idle) . Also tried with G-sync on and off, different resolutions and Hz. I tried running my PSU in Single rail config too with no luck. Is my 2080ti just too weak or is something else going on ? I deleted the event log and did a few more tries, these screenshots are the only error I get. Hi there! I ordered the 5800X on launch day, and promptly upgraded from the 3700X as a drop-in replacement (Mrs. Float was building a new PC, and wanted my 3700X). My motherboard (ASRock X570 Taichi) was upgraded to BIOS 3.60 while still running the 3700X in order to be compatible with Ryzen 5000. Everything worked fine before and after the BIOS update, while still running the 3700X. After the CPU upgrade, Windows (2020 H2) ran fine, but some apps and games were acting weird. Specifically, Time Spy would crash, WoW would crash when enabling ray-tracing, and some other random wonky behavior. However, my monitors going to sleep after the specified idle time was not an issue. After a couple days of troubleshooting everything else, I opted to just reinstall Windows. The reinstall went fine, and everything worked fine immediately after. Installed the X570 chipset and RAID drivers, still fine. Monitor would shut off, PC would sleep. I then went through reinstalling almost all of my usual apps and games. At some point, Windows decided that it will no longer sleep according to the timer, and the monitor never turns off, either. Locked or unlocked. I've reset the power scheme (Balanced) to default several times. According to AMD, Balanced is the preferred scheme for Ryzen 5000. I used to use Ryzen High Performance, which no longer gets installed with the chipset drivers. Searching around online, I've seen suggestions to run "powercfg -requests" since there was likely a driver keeping my PC awake. I found a lock related to my Realtek audio driver, audio-technica microphone, and NVIDIA Broadcast. I updated the drivers for my sound card and reinstalled NVIDIA Broadcast. No change. Exited NVIDIA Broadcast, and most locks disappeared. Still no sleep. Disabled it from starting on boot, restarted, no locks to be seen anywhere. PC and monitor still won't sleep. I've manually rebooted a few times, checked for driver locks, and then manually locked my computer while sitting there for up to 20 minutes. Monitor never goes black (lockscreen on the whole time), and computer never sleeps. Looking around on r/Windows, I saw some similar posts about sleep, and they were advised to check for a problematic app/driver in Event Viewer. I know the times that I manually rebooted for testing, but I don't see anything out of the ordinary in there. Can anyone suggest what to check next? Are there any apps out there than can crawl through the very busy Event Viewer to possibly make it easier to narrow down? At the time I posted something very similar on r/Windows, I was running 3.60 BIOS version. I have since tried 3.61, 3.62 (beta), and now 3.67 (beta), in addition to 2 more Windows 10 reinstalls (2020 H1 and H2) in order to try and narrow the cause down. I've had no luck as all, and am beyond frustrated with this.

i have no more energy left to research more about damned laptops! you guys suggest if you even read all the below shite i have been using a dell inspiron 5558 15.6inch laptop for 5 years now. now i am going to college to pursue computer science engineering. i need a new laptop, this dell one rn is in pieces,,, there are 4 lines on the screen, battery doesn't charge above 0% ( only works with a charger), hinge is totally busted (the lid doesn't close ), when some pressure is applied on the screen more lines appear, now i want a laptop with the best battery, best screen, best performance, light weight(discrete gpu not required if ryzen 4000 or 11th gen intel) under my budget of 60,000 indian rupees i.e 800 usd. but the thing is the laptops you guys have in the usa would cost 600 usd but the same costs 800 in india. after hearing about the ryzen 4000 and 11th gen intel cpus i cannot buy a slower laptop knowing that i could've bought a 2x faster one in the same price. here is what i have shortlisted yet- lenovo ideapad slim 5 14 AMD/ lenovo ideapad 5 14- (only available sometimes on lenovo official website only) https://www.lenovo.com/in/en/laptops/ideapad/s-series/IdeaPad-5-14ARE05/p/88IPS501392 asus zenbook 14(over priced af in india i.e 1055 usd or 78k indian rupees)- https://www.flipkart.com/asus-zenbook-14-core-i5-11th-gen-8-gb-512-gb-ssd-windows-10-home-ux425ea-bm501ts-thin-light-laptop/p/itm173bc935b2a33?pid=COMFWXWWZYFRCPW7&lid=LSTCOMFWXWWZYFRCPW7PFUQPK&marketplace=FLIPKART&srno=s_1_1&otracker=search&otracker1=search&fm=SEARCH&iid=8c53cc5e-c567-4493-a62a-9276f4fb98a9.COMFWXWWZYFRCPW7.SEARCH&ppt=sp&ppn=sp&ssid=d6874sb6280000001606466581025&qH=d263203567fe481e asus one is out of my budget so fuc* it. lenovo is seems really good but a guy on utube said that its hinge pushes the screen too much and that arises a weird effect in the shite ass TN panel of its and the damned thing is no where available. what the hell happened to dell, hp, and other brands cant see a single decent one of em. i can wait till start of jan next year ig.

Budget (including currency): Lets say 1500euros. There is no real limit but I would like to keep the price below that mark and as low as possible without wasting performance Country: Bulgaria( or any EU country works as well) Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: All kinds of games , a decent amount of coding and maybe some video rendering(not really likely tho). Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have decided on most parts and I am open to accept any recommendations. CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x GPU: RX 6800 xt (yes I know that I will have to wait a lot for it but I'm ok as long as the price drops to a reasonable sum 650-700 euros) PSU: Raidmax RX-1000AE-B Cobra, 1000W, Gold +( already bought. I know that it is overkill but I found it really cheap(67 euros) and I just couldn't miss out on the offer) HDD: Seagate Barracuda, 2TB, 7200rpm, 256MB cache, SATA III (already bought as well) SSD: I will probably get a 256gb for my OS installation (don't want to wait an eternity for my system to boot:D. Going to run Windows 10 Pro if that matters) RAM: I am still deciding between 2x8, 4x8 and 2x16 so I will appreciate advice on that (3200mhz CL14 or 3600 mhz CL16 as far as I have looked into it) Motherboard: I am really torn here. Do I go for b450 with bios update when they go out or do I go for B550 or x570? I am using only 5600x so I don't want to go too hard on the motherboard keeping in mind that I will probably buy a new one for the next CPU upgrade. Case: Lian Li Lancool II Mesh but I am still waiting in hope that it will get discounted:) Monitor: 2560x 1440 144hz 27 inch monitor( not bought as well but no matter what the resolution is decided for sure) Now for the questions that I need answered the most. The rig will be connected to the 2560x1440 monitor stated above and to the TV(It is fullHD tv) in the living room(as 2nd monitor) in case that my parents want to watch a movie because the TV is old and loads the movies really slow. So the rig will have to be able to handle both at the same time ( gaming on the 2560x1440 and a movie streamed on the TV). Will I have any problems doing so like my cpu having problems keeping up because it is only 6 cores? If there won't be any problems, down the line I am thinking of adding an extra monitor next to the 2560x1440 one as an actual 2nd monitor so there will be 3 monitors connected in total. Will there be any problems in that case? Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any advice and/or answers. P.S: Any critique is welcome as long as it is constructive criticism ^^ Edit: If anyone can give me info on which ram kits are dual rank it will be much appreciated

Budget (including currency): as close to or under £400 as possible. Great British Pounds (£) Country: United Kingdom Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: CoD:MW/ColdWar (and new, subsequent releases), CSGO, Cities Skylines, Sims 4 and some indie games like House Flipper and BeamNG + Automation etc Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): My current rig is in my sig but to simplify here is a basic overview; i7 2700k @ 4.6Ghz cooled by a Corsair 110GT 16GB Corsair Dominator RAM 1600Mhz Asus P8-Z77 LX Motherboard Zotac GTX 1070 Mini Acer 144Hz Monitor 1080p (planned upgrade to an 200hz 3440p Ultrawide in a few years.) So, here goes; I've still got a 10 year old CPU. She's needing retirement (or re-homing from daily use to my GFs updated system) and I'm going back to team red. Below the PartPicker BBs explains in more detail. I've got two distinct but very different PCPartpicker lists; PCPartPicker Part List CPU: *AMD Ryzen 3 3100 3.6 GHz Quad-Core Processor (£116.40 @ Alza) Motherboard: Gigabyte B550M AORUS ELITE Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard (£96.22 @ CCL Computers) Memory: *Patriot Viper Steel 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory (£59.16 @ More Computers) Storage: Crucial P2 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (£47.99 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: Gigabyte P GM 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (£84.10 @ SmartTeck.co.uk) Total: £403.87 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available *Lowest price parts chosen from parametric criteria Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-12-16 02:37 GMT+0000 Above with a Ryzen 3 3100 and a B550 Mobo and below with a R5 1600AF and a B450 Mobo. PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (12nm) 3.2 GHz 6-Core Processor (£114.40 @ Alza) Motherboard: ASRock B450 Steel Legend ATX AM4 Motherboard (£87.38 @ CCL Computers) Memory: *G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory (£104.13 @ Newegg UK) Storage: Crucial P2 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (£47.99 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: Gigabyte P GM 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (£84.10 @ SmartTeck.co.uk) Total: £438.00 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available *Lowest price parts chosen from parametric criteria Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-12-16 02:39 GMT+0000 The 6-Core system is more expensive overall, but I can bite that cost for the extra cores. My point in even making this post is; whats better? I am using a decade old (almost) CPU now, that feels like it's on it's last legs 1.4v for a good 5 years of me owning it has taken it's toll. I don't upgrade that often. Sill using a 240GB Samsung 840EVO SSD that was in the system when I paid my friend £300 for the thing about 5 years ago. What's going to last longer? A Ryzen 3 CPU with a 7nm process or a Ryzen 5 with a 14nm process? I'm still on bloody 32nm. This is a large purchase for me and I really don't want to waste money on it. It'll be paired with a GTX1070 for a good year or more, until I save enough for a new GPU (and when you can actually buy one) and subsequently a new Ultrawide monitor. I'd be aiming for a theoretical RTX4070 I hope, or maybe a 4060Ti, heck, even an RX7700 XT! Other info; Why is there an SSD and a PSU here? Simple answer is, because, I can? Also I want a better storage solution to this old SSD. Maybe it ends up in my GFs system. The PSU is because this one is nearing 7 years old and it's an older OCZ ZT Series unit, which scares me a lot. I've added a 750w unit because I have PSU anxiety so more is better(?) and I feel more comfortable with a higher wattage and having to spend an extra £20 on that. This AsRock B450 motherboard is stated on their site to support Ryzen 5000 series. Once the prices drop in a few years time I'm likely to simply buy a 2nd hand (or old-stock) R7 5800X or R9 5900X and run that setup with a 360mm RAD or NH-D14/15. Also, my current setup is 3 monitors. My Acer is over DVI, the Samsung is over HDMI and the Logik TV uses VGA which uses ASUS's very clever dual iGPU and main GPU system. How would I run all these monitors at once from a new PC without any onboard video from the MoBo/CPU - the TV does have HDMI in but I use that for my Roku streaming box and it would be more a first-world-problem than an actual issue to just unplug and plug in the cables every new and again. Would buying some cheap but very low power Nvidia GPU like a GT210 make sense to just have a VGA port for the TV, or am I being over-complicated for no reason? Thanks for reading this poorly written ramble-fest. It's 3am. - Dylan

Budget : $1250 Gaming at 1440p 144hz Hi guys Im actually running a i5 7500, 16gb 2400mhz and gtx 1070ti. Im having problems with games cause my i5 is constantly at 100% with no browser opened in games like r6 siege, world war z, the division 2, gta v, etc. Thats why i want to upgrade my cpu first These are my options according to the price in my country. My focus are games at 144hz and lots of browser tabs. 1440p btw A: ryzen 5 5600x ($375) + B550 F ($220) + 2x8 3200mhz ($120) + NH D15 ($130) B: ryzen 9 5900x ($695) + X570 Master ($430) + NH D15 ($130) or x570 Taichi ($375). I have seen that the x570 master has problems with the battery or something like that, i dont understand much to be honest Which one should i choose or what can change in these options?

Hope you all are doing well! I'm planning to upgrade my home PC (i5 3570k) because it's driving me nuts when I'm working. So after many hours of research online (I would say I gave it ~12 hours of searching and reading, making tables etc) I just cannot decide between 10700KF (kf as I dont need iGPU) and 5600x. Both cpus are well stocked in my country so that should not be a problem. Problem is that I just can't decide for one. I was looking for compile benchmarks on https://openbenchmarking.org/ mainly beacuse of pretty big database of compilation benchmarks. WARNING: RANT START -> I'm programmer, so compilation and Gradle benchmarks are big priority. LTT are benchmarking compilation times for compiling Mozilla Firefox. For many programmers I know, this test has little - to no value for us. Mozilla Firefox is celestial, gargantuan, well branched and structured codebase and it's very well made for fast compile times. Us mortals make smaller projects (not well structured, ain't nobody have time for this) using Unity3D (roslyn compiler), Android studio (gradle build, DEX compiler), Visual Studio (compiler depends on project), IntelliJ etc, Python, XCode on macs (or hackinthosh) etc. <- RANT END Having very good game performance is big plus. So I would say my priority is divided by 50:45:5 between compilation:gaming:rendering. I ended up comparing total of 4 CPUs: 10700KF, 9900KF, 5600x, 3800x. I know the title is about 2 CPUs, but I did a little bit research on these other models (I have 9900K in my office and it's pleasure working on it). Want to buy Arctic Freezer II 280 - mainly because of performance/price as I don't care about RGB. With that I should be able to overclock and keep temperatures low enough for good long life of CPU (I think). I would buy 360 version, but as nexusgamers noted what orientation the radiator should be in front mount, the 360 version does not have long enough tubes I think. So here is the list of info relating to my build: I will be using my current 1070gtx in new build. Prices in my area (in USD): 10700KF 420 9900KF 427 5600x 373 3800x 392 - All prices are relatively in the same ballpark I think - I would sacrifice 50 coins if it will help - As I know myself I will never upgrade CPU once it's in the PC. - AMD's have better TDP so maybe longer life while overclocked? - On openbechmarking.org the Intel did beat AMD in almost every compilation benchmark (higher clocks > more cores in this cases). - AMD's are much better at gaming (altough not sure if it'll make difference on my 1070gtx at 1080p) Some other thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

With the launch of a much better price to performance based Ryzen 5000 and Nvidia RTX 3000 Series, I think the laptops in the price range ~1000-1250 USD are about to see a major bump in their performances as compared to the current generation of laptops available in the market. However I am also a bit skeptical that the laptop manufacturers may want to keep the extra bit of pie for themselves and we may not see many competitive prices laptop in the 1000-1300 USD price range. Additionally I am very optimistic about laptop manufacturers recognizing the demand and performance for Ryzen and give them the exposure they need in the mobile segment. What say?

Hi, I am currently running an i7 8700 non k on (ofc) a 1151 socket, 32 GB 3200MHz Ram and a rtx 3070. As the CPU is getting a little old i am thinking about upgrading soon. But I am not sure wether to go Intel or Ryzen, since a new Ryzen CPU would require a new mainboard, while a fitting Intel wouldnt and I do not really want to break the bank with it. I mostly use the PC for Gaming, 3D Modelling and other creative work like Photoshop. Cooling would also not be a problem since I already have a liquid cooler (yes, for a non K). So the Question is... what CPU would make sense?

Budget (including currency): ~£250 gbp Country: England Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: cad modeling and simulation Current rig: Ryzen 5 2600 oc'ed to 4.2 asrock b450 steel legend Corsair Vengence Pro RGB 2666 cl16 32GB oc'ed to 3200 cl15 GTX 970 strix SSD storage Corsair CM450 Corsair 220T I'm hopfuly starting my areospace engineering course at UWE in september, and one of the year one modules is cad and simulations. I'm assuming I'll have access to Uni tech but I would like to be able to do it on my own pc as well. I dont know what software they are using, but at a guess id say its probably solidworks. At the moment, I should have around £250 in hand, however as I upgrade I intend to sell my old parts on, so I could probably get another 100 each for gpu/cpu. If I sell my CPU and add that money to the pile, I would be looking at around ~350, which raises the question of what would bring me the most benifit, a ryzen 7 3700x or a ryzen 5 5600x as they are both similar prices, or would I be better getting a ryzen 7 2800x second hand and saving money for a better gpu? I was looking at maybe asking for a 3060ti for my upcoming birthday, but would the larger vram of the regular 3060 give me more benifits over the faster cores? Finally, if anyone out here using solid works could tell me if my cpu is actually fine and I only need a GPU or vise versa. Any help is appricated and I'm trying to keep the budget low

Hi! I searched for similar posts but didn't find an answer. Can the bios of a board be updated with the cpu and ram installed? Context: A friend wanted a new pc, so he asked me for help and we managed get a 5600x before it got out of stock and a msi b550 gaming plus, and told the seller to build the pc. But there are 2 problems, 1-we don't have a graphics card yet so the pc doesn't gives any image to the monitor, and 2- I don't know if the board is updated out of the box to atleast work. And well, the 2 one is the big one because right now we don't have the tools to disassembly the cooler. That's is why I wanted to know if a bios flas can be done with the cpu installed. Also, fun fact: in the hurry of thinking that I made my friend waste 900€ I tried to update the bios with everything installed(but I forgot the fact that we'll, no graphics card, no image) and the light in the board flashed as it should when trying to update but after a few seconds stopped, so i don't know if that means that it is updated or that it can't update until we take everything out of the board Ps: my first time with a pc don't kill me pls xd. Also first post in the forum if this doesn't belong here tell me pls
