  1. I can assure you that I am not a native speaker xD Just an European with business connections to Japan so I can speak and (somewhat) read Japanese
  2. I personally don’t read manga, however just by just checking Japanese Amazon there is a point that manga reading is ok. https://www.amazon.co.jp/Kindle-Paperwhite-防水機能搭載-Wi-Fi-8GB-電子書籍リーダー/dp/B07HD12H6W/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=kindle&qid=1625099845&sprefix=kind&sr=8-1 also if it weren’t ok it would probably have huge amount of 1 star reviews. Edit: I forgot to add that I have several Japanese climbing guides on my Kindle and I can see and read small kanji on maps in those books without any issues so I don’t think that there will be issues with manga.
  3. Nothing beats water in cleaning your ass. Eg. when I was in Qatar they had a small shower head next to the toilet for the same purpose. However, it is a bit tedious to use.
  4. Since I bought Japanese toilet (just the lids with electronics) I will just say that I don’t want to use uncivilized toilets which are standard in the rest of the world anymore. Same like no one wants to use “dumb” phones after smartphones
  5. Regarding the original question, we received a notice from Dell that server delivery dates will be delayed and that prices will go up because of the semiconductor shortage. So not only GPUs are affected.
  6. I personally have Tascam lavalier recording system and the included microphone is great for the price. I believe it is Sennheiser mini jack system compatible. I've never used Sennheiser lavaliers, but some reviews say that Tascam is as good or better for a lower price, but I can't vouch for that.
  7. Some makers of IoT stuff have an API that enables you to circumvent the cloud. When I am buying IoT gadgets I am looking for those kind of devices. Currently, I am lazy AF to program my own routines so I am using cloud from manufacturers. In the case of cloud going down or change of heart of the maker (ie mandatory subscription) I could program my own server on Raspberry Pi or similar and run everything from there without having to trash all my devices. Also people are attracted by shiny things. Lots of things are getting "smart", but majority of those things do not have benefit from it, but "it is modern and trendy" so people are buying those things. Let's just remember about Texas and "smart" thermostats. Just fu** those things, and the thing of this topic.
  8. First let’s demystify what TPM is. Security part IS NOT antivirus related matter. TPM doesn’t care about antivirus etc. It is a simple chip that is used for encryption related operations on the PC/server. It is used to securely manage cryptographic keys on the hardware device. Something like hardware Bitcoin wallet, but for your encrypted data. Also, I am pretty confident that majority of motherboards have TPM pins to attach the module. TPM is something that is widely used on servers. Usually servers are locked in a data center which is quite difficult to break into so it makes sense there. You don’t want someone to remotely recreate cryptographic keys (quite difficult, but not impossible) and use those to attack your system. With TPM cryptographic keys are physically tied to the machines. However, if you have a physical access to the machine then TPM makes little sense because there are so many ways to compromise the system. Even one Arduino can be programmed to act as the sophisticated key logger. And let’s be honest, our PCs are not inside vault like building so that they are secure against physical access. EDIT: forgot to write conclusion IMHO TPM is not something that user vulgaris would benefit from. So, I am not sure why Microsoft is pushing into that direction since, lets be honest, A LOT of people will click on free money, girls, guys, whatever on the internet and download and execute malicious software. In that case TPM will not help. I must admit that I did not make my research on this topic to give complete conclusion. Maybe they bought TPM chip company and need additional revenue? Who knows.
  9. Literally, the first result on Google https://www.amazon.com/Multi-Touch-Point-Infrared-Screen-Overlay/dp/B07CTNJR98
  10. Regarding the DIY route here are my 2 cents. If that microphone has USB B connector, it will be through hole component that is easy to swap. In the case of mini or micro connector, those are SMD connectors and they can be tricky to solder for non experienced person. Also, there is a chance that connector PCB traces are also broken and I’ve seen many of those cases with mini or micro USB connectors. Finally , regarding the suggestion to attempt the repair, OP should be aware that that operation could make the issue worse. And I know lots of experienced service technicians who would refuse to fix someone else’s repair attempts after that attempt made an issue worse.
  11. It is probably tuchel connector. Try googling 5 pin tuchel to XLR and find a cable which will work with your microphone and modern interfaces.
  12. Actually you have industrial version of server water cooling made by Asetek (one of the major OEMs for lots of closed circuit water cooling systems).
  13. When I went to Computex long time ago a very friendly guy at Silverstone booth demonstrated me a PC case with hepa filters for inhospitable environment. He told me that it was designed for desert environment so maybe you can look at that as well. not sure are they producing it anymore, but Google is your friend
  14. Speaking of vehicles in games, if game is not driving simulation and vehicles are just a small part of it, driving vehicles should be dumbed down to the maximum. I hate when I have FPS where I am forced to drive and then vehicle starts to fly because I went over a small stone or I want vehicle to turn, but it takes forever to turn. Just screw that shit, I dislike driving simulations for a reason and don't make non driving simulation game vehicle experience into driving simulation. Good example of good dumbed down vehicle experience is Sleeping Dogs.
  15. What I mean by that is that what you record, you get exactly on the output, bit by bit. SDI information is 100% persevered. Long story short we were hunting for some weird behavior and when we finally used Astro we were able to reproduce and fix the issue. Also that Astro is capable of recording 8K at 120 fps when U-SDI interface is used, so imagine that cost headache.
  16. We use it for product development. I can’t go into more details I’m afraid. I can just say that Astro recorder can record and replay 8k SDI signal as is which is extremely convenient when debugging the issues. Also, Astro recorders in my experience are mostly used for R&D and testing purposes. Broadcasters use decks with compressed materials for broadcast. On the other hand I saw racks full of Astro converters being used in production.
  17. That one For 8K their stuff is always top notch. Crossconverters, U-SDI converters, 120fps 8K displays, you name it and they deliver.
  18. As it was written before, not all frames are fully encoded. You have I frames which are actually full picture, P frames which use information from the I frame and it holds only changes made from the I frame. There are also B frames which contain only changes from the previous I frame and the current frame. So you can see how much information gets lost when using encoded video. Not to mention the mess if you record in interlaced. If you record in fully uncompressed raw (not to be confused with RAW file type) where you record frames with their full information you have the following bitrates HD 30fps - 1.5Gbps HD 60fps - 3Gbps 4k 30fps - 6Gbps 4k 60fps - 12Gbps 8k 60fps - 48Gbps So you can see that storage quickly becomes an issue both in speed and quantity. Also uncompressed raw 8K recorder (without camera) which I am currently using costs 200000 USD so the price is the issue as well.
  19. Dry bag. So the stuff in my backpack can be dry during the swimming in the river while shower climbing or canyoning.
  20. I have similar Sirui tripod, but with different head. It is well machined, no blemishes, operation is super smooth and am pretty happy with it. I ordered ~30$ ball head from Aliexpress the other day and although that one is decent, Sirui feels and looks like premium product compared to that one.
  21. They mostly use pig bones, not mutton ones. They are the base for tonkotsu ramen. Also, they strain the soup and I have no issues with that. However, speaking of ramen, if my chashu had tons of small bone fragments inside I would probably not eat it. Eg, I had Michelin star chicken rice meal in Singapore and they were basically cutting chicken with cleaver, smashing bones in process so I did not enjoy that meal because of the bone fragments.
  22. This one is regarding making meat dishes where you basically shatter bones with cleaver to get flavour. Flavour which you will get is insignificant compared to the completely removing joy of eating when you need to care about millions of small bone fragments.
  23. Maybe they need game developers because “game” will just be the system GUI. It is not a first time that game engine is being used for GUI which has nothing to do with gaming.
  24. If you can remember the first photo of the black hole, to render it 4.5 petabytes of data was required. So for some scientific workloads even 700TB is not enough.
