    Related to my school network.

There is a printer in the hall. You need to put the document in the list (click to Print on your PC), use a chipped card to log in to the physical printer and retrieve your document (click print there).
So, on my laptop there are two school printers (let's not use actual names)

    Printer@schoolnetwork.nl
    Printer

So if you print to printer@schoolnetwork.nl, you're fine. But if you print just to Printer, you lose your printing money (5 ct. per page), and get nothing.
You've guessed it. I used the wrong printer 5 times in the first month. God damnit RICOH.

So, I looked around on a local second-hand site, and saw quite a few people wanting to get rid of CRTs, some were free and had a refresh rate of up to 160Hz @ 640x480 and 152Hz @ 800x600.

Would LTT recommend me picking up a really cheap (or even free, save for fuel costs) CRT, or should I save up and splash 250+€ on a new 144Hz monitor. I could aswell get a CRT now, and upgrade later (currently in 'broke student' state).

I don't mind playing at a low res, since I am used to it (poor family means poor computer lol), and I play CS:GO, people say it's a great investment to get a high refresh rate monitor.

TwOne got a reaction from Zalda_ in How to tell what refresh rate CS GO is running at?
You CANNOT see your refresh rate in the net_graph, and FPS =/= refresh rate. To make sure your monitor is running on 144Hz, go into the Windows display settings and make sure the refresh rate is at 144Hz. Every Valve game will automatically default to the chosen refresh rate in Windows.

Yesterday I tried to get an old PC to work, but kept getting the classic 'Keyboard error. Press F1 to resume.' error. I decided to google it, and some site had a really stupid explanation.

Now this is what it said (roughly):

"The biggest cause of this error is if you are running a 400W motherboard on a 200W power supply."

Sorry, but since when do motherboards also come in Watts?

So, I was playing GTA 5 yesterday, me and some other guy were discussing about building a new PC, and I said I would be getting a 20€ system for the time being with an Intel Core2 Quad.

He replied: "But I don't think it's worth it to invest in a dual-core."

    Jeez, Core2 Quad, not Duo.

    BUMP
I found and solved a big part of the problem. Apparently, my anti-virus program (Kaspersky Pure 3.0) was using up a lot of CPU cycles. Removing the software and replacing it with anti-virus software with a lower footprint helped the performance quite a bit. I got +20 fps in CS:GO in some situations, and the CPU load is now more consistent across all cores.

I know. Luckily my class is full of techies like me. I was discussing DDR4 RAM with a guy who normally isn't that smart, but it feels good man to talk to people who know what they are talking about.

Does your IT Dept calling Microsoft for help with a Microsoft Silverlight problem and being told "it isn't a Microsoft product so we can't help you" before being hung up on count?

So, to confirm, you guys would still pick the i3, even with 4GB RAM and to upgrade the RAM later over the FX with 8GB and overclocking out of the box? Just to be sure. I know both options will be miles ahead of my current set-up, but CPUs are a strange thing to me.

The X4 980 still performs really well, but it will not guarantee good performance for the coming years. In fact, in CPU intensive games you will probably not see much of an difference. For GPUs, I recommend getting an GTX 760 if you can find one.

I think by the time I have saved up for that the hardware landscape will have changed a lot. In short, I'm not having the best times financially as a jobless student who will have to pay his own bills soon.

So I'll definitely consider OC'ing for now. Thanks for your help!

As a second choice, the SteelSeries Rival. It works without software, but if you are willing to install it, you will unlock the potential of that mouse.

This. Get an old Microsoft IntelliMouse or Wheel Mouse Optical. They aren't fancy, but their sensors are accurate. I used an IntelliMouse Explorer at school and it was one of the cheap mice I really loved.
