AlTech got a reaction from ImWilly in AMD rumoured to have cancelled top die Navi 4C due to complications and also Navi 4C diagram leaked
    Summary
AMD is rumoured to have cancelled Navi 4C (aka Navi41) and the diagram of Navi 4C has also been leaked. Navi 4C's alleged cancellation is because of complications caused by Navi 4C's new architecture of CUs inside Shader Engine Dies housed on top of Active Interposer Dies which themselves are housed on Package Substrate. and the massive scaling of chiplet usage in the architecture.

AMD is believed to have diverted employees working on Navi 4C towards Navi 5 so that Navi 4 can be released in 2024 with Navi 5 launching in 2025.

    My thoughts
Not gonna lie, looking at this insanely expanded complexity I am not surprised it got cancelled. I do hope that the rumours are correct and that AMD will be back making high end GPUs for Navi 5.

Agreed... but how do you fire Linus?  How do you punish Linus?

Push him out of doing LTT videos, give him a small project within LMG, which he spins off into another company that LMG latter buys.

AlTech reacted to Origami Cactus in Linus's personality - has money changed him?
Yeah, I don't think he has changed either, he has always been that arrogant "i am right, you are wrong" kind of guy that does janky things.
Back in the old house where everyone were friends, they were better at keeping him at bay, and also as you say, they were actually making fun videos where it didn't really matter they were janky, that is what he was known for.
You can see that arrogant personality slip out of Linus in even the old videos, but then there was Nicky V or someone else back at him with a quick jab or a joke for acting like a douche. Now he only has Luke who really can't control him anymore.

If the timeline laid out here (particularly that LTT and Billet emailed after GN's video went up and only discussed the value of the prototype) is determined to be factual then Linus is flat out a disingenuous liar and I'm no longer going to watch LTT content and will steer people away from it until a full apology to both GN and Billet is issued at the least.

Oh yeah. Your team thought let's auction it even though you were told not to two times and then later label it as miscommunication.

And throwing $800/$1000 to the Billet Labs to make them quiet will not solve their problem. The prototype that they sent you were the working ones which they relied on and their work is delayed. And now don't even know when and if you ever had the intention to make ammends, paying them for their water block does not solve anything. Stop being ignorant and own up to it.

I disagree, Linus has investment in Framework as a company, it doesn't matter if its LMG or his personal investment, having the investment still creates a conflict of interest with laptop reviews. IMO someone else needs to write the scripts and do videos on laptops.
As much as I'd like to see LMG improve, maybe i'm too being too cynical or negative on this, but with the statement Linus made, and refusing to publicly discuss the things GN highlighted, or the Billet block, it seems like he's trying brush the problem away, yet calls GN's video on this bad ethics.
Linus and LMG as a company have the reputation for saying he cares about what the audience says, but the content quality has been going down hill for years, and the amount of errors in videos continues to be unacceptable given they have a testing lab.

LMG has over 100 employees now, i'm sure they have someone that is managing the inventory, if not then its corporate negligence to not scan an item into their system if they are scanning everything else that goes up for review. If they manage everything else in the warehouse then there is no excuse to not scan the Billet block, the whole deal with auctioning it off then trying to deny it seems like Linus doesn't care because Billet isn't a massive company handing LMG sponsorship money.

To Linus, a "proper journalistic practice" is to throw in 5 sponsors, make clown show, and promote products at least 10 time in the show. Steve didn't even monetize! That's definitely not proper journalistic practice.

If I don't do my job properly I get fired because clients who pay us a lot of money get angry.

Linus does his job improperly and has a massive band of merry men ready to keep his coattails from settling on the dust.

Nobody is above criticism and you aren't helping anything by pretending they are.

If Steve took a few minutes to make sure his own video would be error free and maybe getting some context about things he called out then maybe his side would be easier to side with. I only watched GN for their prebuilt reviews for when I had to recommend some to friends. Guess I'll need to find somewhere else to get those now.

Couldn't you say that his  LABS employees making comments about GN and HU with their testing strategies was in, at least, poor taste? It feels like they attempted to discredit them by saying they run 'new tests, every time [unlike GN and HU]'

The downhill slide for all of this shit started when they started with the clickbait-y titles and thumbnails to "chase the algorithm". *That* was the point they started changing their strategy from relying on the rigor of their content to trying to game the algorithm. I'm not surprised at all that they're making 5+ mistakes a video now as they all struggle to churn out 25+ videos a WEEK. That's an absolutely insane amount of content and something had to give, I'm just sad to see that it was the actual content itself that took the hit.

I wish that Linus would see this for what it is as an eye opener for things that need changed on a cultural level at LMG but he is so deep down the rabbit hole now that all he sees is "moar content = moar algorithm = moar money". It really is sad to see how far LTT has fallen from its roots.

You normally give friends the benefit of the doubt.  I won't dispute that.  But if you don't give friends the benefit of the doubt to begin with (as Linus and his employees didn't with Steve and GN that kicked this all off) then why should Steve do something different?

LMG literally used the wrong GPU on the waterblock that Billet sent you. I'm not sure how this could be anything other than an accuracy issue.

The waterblock was specifically for a 3090Ti. Waterblocks are not interchangeable across different GPUs much less even different board partner models of the same GPU.
It does to the people with 3090Ti cards who would have benefitted from watching an accurate and objective video about a GPU block designed for 3090Ti cards.

Instead it has caused untold reputational damage to the company and has likely cost them future sales as a result of the harm your video has done.
Even if it performed as they advertised at around 20C lower than your temps?

If you can't allow your conclusion to change based on the performance of the product then you're not honestly being objective or helping the community.

A wise man once said words to the effect of: A delayed game is sometimes bad, a rushed game is always bad.

The same applies to videos and other content where integrity matters. The rushed videos LMG has put out riddled with pre-upload and post upload corrections are signs that there is a serious lack of quality control at LMG.
I'm not sure you even believe that but if you do then you give GN and other reviewers in the space far less credit than they give you.
For a scrappy startup with 12 employees these seemingly endless amounts of mistakes may be tolerable if not still extremely disappointing. For a reasonably large company with 120 employees this is simply not acceptable.

Making basic mistakes in seemingly every video and mass producing videos like it's chocolate isn't helping anybody except your bottom line. If that's the goal then great, scream it from the roof tops but if it is you shouldn't claim to care about the community or to be doing this for consumers. Furthermore, if you can't handle criticism about the company you partially own then frankly you should not own any part of a business.

I agree with your conclusion but I strongly disagree with the logic that got there. Fairness shouldn't apply. If Steve has the ability to contact Linus (which we know he does as he was the first person to tell Linus his channel was hacked) then he should be able to use any method for gathering information available to him. That said he shouldn't HAVE to. Him not reaching out is a choice and one that I respect and Linus shouldn't throw him under the bus for not taking advantage of his ability to reach out.

So mediocrity is okay so long as it doesn't happen too often? The fact that LMG illegally sold something and yet no SOPs will be changed to prevent it happening again is negligent conduct. If this happens again one might even be able to make a legal case for theft due to reckless disregard for who owns what property which in and of itself is likely to be a criminal offence.

I'm not even sure how it's possible for such an error to occur by accident because if you don't own an item you can't sell it without explicit permission. If the company providing a review sample wants it back, then it's not yours. If they say you can keep it then it may be yours to keep but you should still double check with them to see if they're okay with you selling it for a charity auction.
