It's a matter of perception and the US always gets it wrong. They look at Canada and see America Jr. Same money, same lifestyle, same culture. They're just like us! Well, there's that French thing, but we have New Orleans and LA. See? Just like us!

Ummmm, no. Canada has very different values to the U.S. Good government = good citizenship. Consensus. Sharing resources to help everyone. It's a function of a harsh weather country. If you don't help your fellow man, he will die. If he dies, you probably will too. Cooperation is key to survival.

In the U.S. it's the maverick. The lone wolf. Man against nature. Competition instead of cooperation. Gun ownership. Lack of universal health care because maybe somebody might abuse it. Deliberately weakening the banking system to deprive it of power. Yadda, yadda, yadda. For the outside, it will look the same but on the inside we're very different. It's why Canada's standard of living is higher than the U.S.

The hdd is handy for all the junk that doesn't need the ssd speed like data files etc. That said just having a ssd right now is wise. Make sure you buy a large enough one. I would recommend 256gb minimum. Keep your eyes peeled for new announcements about new drives in about 6 months. I think the ssd sizing is going to drastically jump in size and not cost a lot to boot!

The whole point in partitioning hdd's is to speed up access with multiple smaller spaces instead of a gargantuan one. Clearly ssd's don't have that issue. On top of that you are actively hindering the performance of the ssd by having partitions by preventing access to the whole array of flash at one time. It's a bad idea.

I have a DK3 9008 and it's great. I think that WASD are overpriced but the DK4 isn't going to be cheap either so...

Build quality is amazingly good on the DK. For something that is just plastic, none of the fancy aluminum like the K70, it's heavy and substantial. It's clear that they spent the money in the places that it counts, not on just the places you see. That impresses me. The only issue is that I wouldn't call the DK3 a gaming keyboard or even a multimedia board. It's just a keyboard. Not much frippery, but all good stuff.

I like my Browns. As you can see, everyone has their preferences. Don't take someone else's opinion. Get your own. Unless you're buying a keyboard for them of course.

Quit screwing around with that mdf crap. Get a solid wood top. Ikea used to sell pine desktops for cheap. They're great. Just add legs and they work amazingly well. If you don't have an Ikea close look at good kitchen tables.

I can't see how a controller can affect a completely separate drive. Only in a RAID scenario would it matter. I think you need to reread that article again.

@ManwithaBeard1990 In this instance you're wrong. There is no "first" 120gb. It's a drive. Period. When you install a Black2 you have two physical drives, a 120gb ssd C: drive and a 1 tb hdd D: drive. They only share a form factor, nothing else. This is why this is not a hybrid but a "dual" drive as labelled by WD. Yes it is more expensive which is why it's not recommended for desktops because it's unnecessary but in this instance it's absolutely perfect. The only caveat for this drive is that you need 9mm of clearance. With the older machines that isn't much of a problem.

You won't. It's an awkward size that nobody makes anymore. You're better off to go with a WD Black2 drive. A ssd and hdd in a single form factor. Perfect for your needs. You get decent speed and the space of a hdd. This isn't a hybrid like the sshd but better.

They're flakey lately. It seems the older stuff is the best. Newer has issues. The LED issues with their keyboards worries me especially for the price they charge. I went with a Ducky instead. I can't get a m45 mouse for the life of me and even posting a question in the Corsair forums was met with thunderous silence. Not impressed. Either they are ignoring the very things that made them great or they're overwhelmed. Grew too fast. Either is bad. If they keep up this pace they'll turn into an Antec and fade fast.

Depends on the writes that you do with the server. Most do a ton of writes and will burn out a regular ssd real quick. That's why there are a whole nuther level called enterprise drives that are not usually available to the great unwashed. Expensive, too.

For a hardworking server I would look at the enterprise side of things, not the consumer side. Constellation drives by Seagate. WD has server drives as well. Server grade ssd's by Toshiba, SanDisk or Intel. Be prepared to pony up the cash. At least you only need one!

Previous to XP the MacOS was a superior experience. Not crash proof as people wanted to believe but pretty decent. Since that time the benefits have waned to the point that Win7 can be superior to OS X. The biggest issue is that nobody runs an O/S. It's the bkgd to what you are really doing. The Win platform will have as many apps or more than MacOS for any one application and there's many applications that don't have a Mac app. Even better, most of the really decent apps are cross platform so it really doesn't matter which O/S you're using. Add to that the issue of how locked down the hardware is by Apple. Not a feature.

TL:DR Save your money and just use a Win box. There's no benefit to switching.

Ok. This isn't an ssd. It's a card I think. It's using 2 bonded PCI Express lanes to get that thruput. It looks like something that's for a server or workstation. OCZ and Plextor have similar offerings. Not cheap.

I'm going to commit heresy and say that while the MX100 is decent it's not the only game in town. At that pricepoint I would be looking at sales. Compare specs to the MX100 and see which one comes out ahead. I'd look at quality name brands, not the 3rd tier shit. Intel, SanDisk, Adata, OCZ, even Kingston as long as you stick with the Fury X series. Stay far away from the V series. Compare them to Crucial and buy the best that you can get.

This is a decent drive and it comes with software which is key. If you're going BR it's a good choice and a good price too. The Pioneer is decent as well but it's a bare drive. I like it because there's no printing on the face which I preferred.

I have no idea what you guys are installing but I, for one, don't just run an O/S. Minimum is 120gb and that's tight. If you can stump up and get a 256gb you'll be much happier down the road. Remember ssd's do not like being squeezed for space.
