I guess I'm stupid, but I don't understand how LTT can be retconed into Lab32. In what numbering scheme is TT = 32? The closest thing I can think of is the Audi TT came with a 3.2L VR6 engine, but I doubt that's it.

I blame my dyslexia (thank you autocorrect).

They could name it Lab Thingie Testers 😉

No it is normally Dual, but since yours is mismatched with 4GB and 8GB Modules, it will be set up in Single Channel. AFAIK replacing the smaller Module with an 8GB one will set it correctly.

I'd stick with the iGPU. The latest HD 4850 drivers are from 2013 (and therefore nothing official for Win 10 or Win 11), whereas Intel has drivers for the iGPU of your 4660 from April of last year.

Feel free to try both, but I'd expect the iGPU to be the better choice.

Basic CAD doesnt care about the GPU, even in more complex projects you would find the i5 to bottleneck way more. Either choice wont make noticeable difference, aside from HD4850 not getting software updates earlier on so it could encounter more bugs

The dedicated card will perform better unless your CAD software requires support for a technology that the old dedicated card does not support. For instance, a quick google search shows that the HD4850 supports DirectX 10 and OpenGL 3.3, while the HD Graphics 4600 supports DirectX 12 and OpenGL 4.3.

To be honest, I am not really good at hardware, I shine the most in software, It's safe to say you can try it out, it would definitely increase performance, but feel free to experiment, if it doesn't, then you can just remove it right after

That card will be much faster than that generation of integrated graphics. The issue, as mentioned by @Hairless Monkey Boy is that some games and software require features that the HD4850 lacks. So when the card works, it'll be better than the on-board graphics, but if it doesn't work then you don't really have a choice.

    Was sleeping sorry lol
    But like what @gloop said
    It's used for heavy / ln2 overclocking
A single 8pin can provide up to 384w of power
    Which with a ryzen cpu
You won't reach any time soon

The 4 pin isn’t needed unless you are ln2 overclocking, as the 8pin can provide 384w of power which is plenty for a 3900x.

    Talk about into the weeds...

I think I'll just go with one of your suggestions. I don't think I have the time to look at all the datasheets for all the components for all the possible boards, as interesting as that might be. I figured this would be the right place to ask this question (I typically don't ask questions on forums). Thanks for your great input.

Have a look into the things @TofuHaroto mentioned above. Also, did you deliberately pick 2 ram set to get 64gb in total? If so, I would just get 2x 32GB dimms. These here would be a good option and come in slightly cheaper https://pcpartpicker.com/product/kGjNnQ/gskill-ripjaws-v-64-gb-2-x-32-gb-ddr4-3200-memory-f4-3200c16d-64gvk

    A lot of things
    How efficient it is
    How good the chokes are
    How good the MOSFETS are
How good the vrm controller is
    How good the heatsink is
Over all the boards I suggested are all good.

Wow, that was fast. What constitutes a good 'vrm solution'? Thanks for the board suggestions. Just for my curiosity, what makes those boards good? The reason I went with Nvidia was because he mentioned that premier pro works best with them (I assume because of the cuda cores). It's been a long time since I've gone into the weeds with PC hardware.

Also, I could see how having good food IO would be handy. Most mobos can't handle their coffee/mountain dew ;).
