I used to fold years ago when it was a new thing but forgot it existed until it was mentioned in an LTT video on the youtubes. When I had trouble getting WU's I figured this would be a good place to check for advice. I discovered a lot of people having the problem and that it wasn't really my issue, but also came across this event. I've gotta say it's been a blast following along and watching my rankings rise as I get my machines running at full steam. I don't feel like I'm really high in the ranking but it's been fun. I've mostly been lurking but as things are winding down just wanted thanks to everyone for putting this together. Based on the conversations here this is a think y'all do regularly so I hope to join again sometime.

I believe it stands for "Home Folding Monitor" but it's a more advanced tracker than the client.  You use the remote access setup from each client and feed it into HFM, and it keeps track of everything.

LOVE the ol 2 door jags!  However, since I couldn't find one back in 90 when I was lookin for one w/ blown engine, found a 72 XJ6 w/ the frozen straight 6 in it, tore that junk outa there n slapped my 72 Buick Estate Wagon 455 and trans in it. 14.6 at 89 mph in the quarter 1st time out w/ no mods to stock grocery getter 455... Had 4 wheel disc brakes in 1972! and was definitely a posi rear-end... Tore up the Houston streets w/ that thing... Fun times!  Still like the looks of the 2-door WAY more!

Given my recent experiences, I would point at memory.  When I originally built my system with a 1700X, I got Trident Z RGB 3200C16 (so Hynix AFR, yay).  But I just chose the XMP profile and it ran flawlessly.
 
As soon as I changed to the R5 3600, I couldn't run the XMP profile stable.  I ended up having to run 1.45v on the ram to reach the rate 3200.

All this talk bout Canada is only going to further drive up my electricity bill cause now I have to watch Super Troopers 1 & 2... Damn you friendly neighbors to the north...
 

My Z77 system with an i5-3450 @ 3.7GHz, GTX 760 and GT 430 takes 250W from the wall when folding
 

I've used Kill-a-watt meter, works GREAT.  Shows hwo much computer uses real time, and can also log hwo much it uses over time... Cheap device, but very effective...
Can watch the wattage increase as your GPU's come online and begin working... 300 watts, 400 watts, 1000 watts, etc... Neat device!

Just have a look at a review with similar parts to you, most systems will be around that 350W-450W mark if single GPU etc etc. Then just have a think about how many total hours you're actually folding for.

Don't knock installing it yourself.  I installed my own solar and fixed a bunch of random crap wiring I've found around our new house.  When the solar company folks came to give me a quote on a heat pump and saw what I did for the solar install, they asked to take a bunch of pictures to take back and show how nice and clean and secure it had all been done.  Sometimes, simply because you care to find out how to do it right, it'll be better.

Finally picked up a CPU WU a little bit ago. Didn't notice until I leaned over to fiddle with cords and noticed my space heater was heating again

Never noticed the LTT cable ties, nice touch.
