  1. I feel they kinda missed the mark on this. Mainly the way they controlled it - you can use your finger yes, but it's so much better to use your thumb as you avoid some of the problems mentioned about controlling it. Though I really wish Apple would licence their touchpad tech to third-parties so we can have this kind of product, only with a proper touchpad. I prefer the Mousetrapper Advance myself, found the Rollermouse to be too inaccurate. Started using it at work couple of years ago as and it's been great. Riley briefly mentioned it, but to be able to move your hand slightly down to control the mouse is great when you have a lot of typing-heavy sessions with brief mouse movement. Still got a regular mice for when I need to be faster and more precise with the pointer. While either option is great, you're simply less precise and fast using it rather than a standard mouse. It's not for everyone, but most offices in Norway usually offer either a Rollermouse or a Mousetrapper. Didn't think it would be such a foreign product, but hey.
  2. This might be problematic, not because a hacked device shouldn't be banned, but because banning a user associated with a hacked device opens up a can of worms. Scenario: A friend logs onto my Switch. We play some games. Then a month later I hack the Switch and go online. Nintendo detects this, and bans all accounts on that Switch. My friend who has no connection to the hack receives a ban. BUT! Thus far we only have this one(?) article and incident. As far as I know, there has been no public stance from Nintendo on this. Honestly, they should just state their policy regarding this. IMO it's OK to ban a hacked device from accessing the online service of Nintendo. There really is no excuse, you can do as you will with your device, but the consequence is that you're banned from accessing a seperate service not included with the Switch. This is especially true when they launch the paid online service.
  3. But this is not comparable to your example about Dell banning you.. this is more comparable to being banned from GoG, as you still get to keep your games and get updates for the OS from Nintendo. However, reading the source cited in the video, it seems like it was a account ban, and not a device ban. From http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/05/nintendo_bans_online_services_for_prominent_hackers_switch_console
  4. I agree with Nintendo on this. They should be allowed to do what they want with their online platform. According to the OP, they only block access to the online service, but still allow OS and existing games updates. They would probably be within their right to block OS and game updates if they detect a modified Switch. As for the whole homebrew argument and about being allowed to do what you want with your console, you can. Just don't expect to be allowed onto Nintendo's online service with a modified console.
  5. I think it was, thought this was a new breach at first. Déjà vu...
  6. Banned for listening.
  7. Seems kinda.. great and terrible at the same time. The art style in particular I think will end up as an "acquired taste". Though, the possibility to combine units is something that's been needed in the series for a long time. Will probably wait until the second expansion; going with the theme of the old Civ games, they generally don't get better than the previous until the second expansion. If there is one though. Anyways, as always with games, wait for proper reviews of the game before buying it.
  8. Hello. Does anyone know of a free program for converting PDF to Word files? I've searched a bit, but couldn't find any that actually worked. I know there are countless online sites that does this, but I need a program so I can actually convert without being connected to the Internet.
  9. While using Unlimited as sales pitch, I understand why they do it. 75TB is a lot of usage, in terms of bandwith, storage mediums, as well as redundancy. That said, I wish companies would stop using "Unlimited", even with an asterix, as feels like false advertising.
  10. I really don't understand how some people think this is good news. From what I understand, the only change this bring, is that you're required to actually use GFE as well as sign in to it. There is nothing good about this change, all it does is give less choice to consumers. Want to sign in to GFE? Great, use it if you wish. But forcing this onto all users who actually want to have updated drivers is just a silly move on Nvidia's part.
  11. Played a bit of the Beta yesterday. Running a 290x and a FX8320 (I know, the CPU is really bad for games). However, running everything at ultra, at 1920x1200, with resolution scaling at 150%, I got smooth gameplay. Haven't checked the actual FPS yet, but it feels buttery smooth. Only downside so far, is the lag at the start, and score screen of a match is horrible, even uses all 8 cores at 90ish%, which I've yet to see in a game. That said, really impressed so far with the Beta in terms of performance. Edit: Uses 8 cores at loading, drops down to 40ish% usage during games.
  12. The people behind this seems incredibly naive. Wanting to spread love and all that, while the reality is that this app will most likely be used for trolling/scorned people.
  13. Any info if DX12 is supported? Would be awesome to test DX11 vs DX12.
  14. Honestly, it's an impressive card considering the performance packed into such a small form factor, with air cooling. The coil whine is horrible though, it's something that hopefully they manage to fix.
  15. I'm kinda torn on this. Competition for Twitch is a good thing, as a good competitive market favours consumers. On the other hand, if Google and Twitch partnered, promoting each other, making it easier for Twitch users to put up stuff on Youtube, and for Youtubers to stream (direct link to the stream, embedded player etc.) it would be great. I feel more big players are needed in the streaming industry, although fragmented streaming is not exactly good either. We'll just have to see in the coming months if people adopt Youtube Gaming, or if it's going to end up a niche market.
  16. It's really not that surprising, especially as others have mentioned, the fact that the OS hasn't been out for even a month yet. I had a couple of bugs the few days after upgrading, but it got sorted by updates. Ironically, I usually updated monthly before (bad practice, I know), so I could've been stuck on those bugs a while, but with the forced updates I saw improvements right away. Not really sure yet how I feel about forced updates. It has both good and bad things about it. Wait for a couple of months before screaming doom and gloom.
  17. Sorry, I worded my sentence wrong. What I meant was, people leave information on both Google and Facebooks services freely. Which in the long run means that, while MS knows a lot of technical things about you, both Google and Facebook knows personal things. Hence, why I'm curious as to their privacy statement versus MS.
  18. So, correct me if I'm wrong, does this mean that their privacy statement is actually better than it was before? And on another note, how does their statement compare to Google or Facebook, seeing as those two probably know more about you than you do.
  19. I really wish people would read the sources. The title is completely misleading (even the thread creator said so himself). For those who drag in Skype etc. to make it apply to everything on W10, Skype is a MS service. They have the right to do whatever they want with it. This does not cover services, games, programs and such that are NOT part of MS. Really, do you honestly think MS is going to bother creating updates all the time for pirated apps and games? Know how much manpower, not to mention hours it will take to stay on top of it all the time? Please, think in a more logical way before posting inane arguments against something that's simply not true. As for the whole piracy debate, my stance is that if something is not available through legitemate means, feel free to pirate it. If it's too expensive, don't buy it.
  20. I'm honestly skeptical about how the quality of the game will turn out. From what I can tell, it seems like it will end up with too many ideas, but not enough focus on them all. That said, I truly hope that the game will turn out great. If it turns out (objectively) bad, it will end up with a shit-storm on the Internet between rational people, and die-hard fans. Which in the long term will only end up hurting us all. That said, people will be disappointed no matter if it's better than a cat riding a dinosaur eating bacon.
  21. Fudge Scarlet (yes, I said it), I want the old lady who plays M in James Bond.
  22. I got the Kone XTD mouse, and it's been wonderful. It fits perfectly in my palm, and although the Easyshift stuff was weird at the start, I love the sheer amount of options you have on the mice in terms of macro and customization with regards to hotkeys, without the need for 15 billion buttons where the thumb is. I used the Kave headset for a while, and while it had really good audio quality compared to a lot of gamer headsets, the control thing between the USB and headset was terrible, it picked up audio from everywhere forcing me to use a different headset when using Skype and Mumble.
  23. Greetings. Lets discuss our experiences with Vessel so far. I joined on the 24th, with the free promo from LTT. I ran the videos on a 1920x1200 screen, with side-by-side video comparison on the same monitor. A shaky start when I joined, with bad options with regards to the video quality, which I'm happy to see has been fixed, although a bit more info on the resolution the various options means would be welcome. Would like to see the cursor disappear, not really a problem for me as I can hide it on one of the other monitors, but for people with a single monitor it could become annoying. Compared to YouTube, I find the videos a lot better to be honest, it just seems like there's more clarity to them on Vessel, did a side-by-side comparison today, and I could tell there was a difference, although I'm not sure yet if it's due to the interface (with Vessel being all black in the background) or bias for whatever reason. YouTube's videos just looks washed out in comparison It's weird to right-click instead of left-clicking to pause videos, although the hold-to-pause with the left click is great, especially if you have a room mate. Performance wise, Vessel seems to be ahead, even on 4k (is there even a point without a 4k monitor?) on YouTube looks worse than High on Vessel, with YouTube using twice as much CPU as Vessel. Can't tell about network usage though, as I don't have proper tools to test that at the moment. All in all, I enjoy watching videos on Vessel, with the improved quality on videos. Anyone else with the same experience or a different one?
  24. Hello folks. Why are there so many different time zone designations? PST, PDT, CEST, GMT etc. I get that the time will always be different in different places of the world, but why can't companies and countries just decide to use ONE of them. It's annoying to see GMT+1 on one site, and suddenly PDT on one site. You have to constantly convert to the appropriate time where you live, which admittedly is fast these days, but still a huge inconvenience. Just an annoying rant, but it's still a huge problem with globalization that one standard can't be used by everyone.
  25. Seems.. interesting. Would love this on Android, as a experimental game it's intriguing.
