crudefallout got a reaction from 4Strings in Looking for New Mechanical Hard Drive
Also, for the 2TB Barracudas, there are two different models that run at different speeds. There is a 2 platter 4 head variety, and a 3 platter 5 head variety. Of the two, the 2 platter - 4 head variety is much faster (due to the fact that there is 1 TB/platter, leaving less distance to travel for random iops). The problem is that they both have the same model number. Luckily the version number is usually different. Only purchase versions xxExxxxx [and possibly x24xxxxx - x24 is unverified info so far] of the 2TB model. Seagate has seen the problem and has started to advertise "the power of one" (terabyte), where the newest drives all have 1TB/platter. However, the older drives are still in distribution centers, so there is still a high chance of receiving one of the poorer drives. For any 3TB drives though, there is no issue. All have 3 platters, six heads.

Do you do mostly video editing? What editing programs do you use primarily?

crudefallout got a reaction from leipero in Bad Processor temps, even with good cooler!
How tight is the H100i? I remember reading somewhere that some of their blocks face issues if they don't have enough pressure, even if it seems tight. Also, just to make sure, you are only using a small, pea-sized amount of thermal compound, correct? Also, what are your temps on stock?

crudefallout got a reaction from James_AJ in Xbox One is now more powerful than the PS4
For one, anything at this point is most likely speculation. Secondly, how can you just add bandwidth together like that? It doesn't even make sense. In reality, the consoles will likely be extremely similar in performance.

crudefallout got a reaction from soulreaper in Show some DSM love!!!
Hmm. Let's analyze this. He said in the beginning that it was nothing to do with PC's. He also mentioned modders. Of the list of links, Psychology and Memory Architecture are off the list. I think we can also throw Democratic Socialist movement, Des Moines International Airport, and Distinguished Service medal off. That leaves DSM (the Dutch materials science company), DSM (the car company/the cars), DSM (the set of techniques based in Game Theory and Information Theory), and DSM (The matrix visual representation). I'm going to throw a guess out and say DSM as in the car company/the cars referred to as "DSM's"

crudefallout got a reaction from LDG in Windows 8 better than 7 in terms of Gaming?
It runs a tiny bit better, but there are many issues where games won't run. Doesn't exactly improve your experience, but if you like the UI and style, it also won't hinder you (except for the games that won't run)

crudefallout got a reaction from Whiskers in XBOX vs PS4
The Xbox is 12 years old. why would it be better than a next generation console? But seriously, at least the PS4 isn't trying to push some TV box with gaming as an afterthought.
