  1. The game stuttered with my EVGA XC3 Ultra 3080 ti but not on my FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti with a 5900x. What fixed it for me was vsync.
  2. The 3090 ti uses a different driver than the 3080 ti. I can swop out my 3080 ti with a 3090 and 3080 with no issues but the 3090 ti runs like a 2080 ti with the 3080 ti drivers. Tomorrow my 5900x rig will go back to using 3080 ti so I will see how it does on 3090 ti drivers before I do a clean install.
  3. It depends what you compere it to. It is cooler than my EVGA FTW3 Ultra and XC3 Ultra 3080 tis but hotter than my Strix 3080. I bought the MSI Gaming X Trio 3080 ti after I bought my first Gaming X Trio 3090 and went off the 3090 reviews. The 3090 has heat pipes in the backplate so it has no vram overheating issues. I bought a second 3090 since I was happy with the performance with the cards. Even though the TUF was not on my GPU list the Strix version was. Both are over built so would have less issues than most. The reason the TUF 3080 ti was not on my list was that it has only 2 8 pin power connectors. My EVGA XC3 Ultra 3080 ti has 2 8 pin and is severely power limited. With having 3 connectors the MSI is less power limited so will run out of clocks before it runs out of power.
  4. The XC3 Ultra is a 2 slot card so it should be fine. GN did a review and talked about the issue.
  5. I have a gaming X Trio 3080 ti. It is a 350 watt card with a max power limit of 380 watts. I mainly use the Gaming X Trios in productivity builds since they are very quiet. Along with the 3080 ti Gaming X Trios I have 2 3090 Gaming X Trios. The Ventus is a 350 watt card that no higher power limit. That usually means the GPU failed the bin for the Trio and Suprem. The TUF is a also a 350 watt card that has a 375 watt power limit. At stock they use about the same amount of power.
  6. The 5000d is very deep so 3 120mm elite fans have little impact. I ended up using 3 in the front and 3 on the side. The case was ok with 3 fans(plus 3 on the AIO) using a FTW3 Ultra 2080 ti but with a 3080 ti it needed the extra fans. I did try 2 140mm fans in front but they did not look great and that defeated the purpose of the case(to look good).
  7. My i9 9900k does about the same as a stock i7 10700k and I have used a 2080 ti, 3080 and 3080 ti with it. Here are the stock time Spy scores. FTW3 Ultra 2080 ti https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/63092267? Strix 3080 https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/64110353? FTW3 3080 ti Ultra https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/67478188? My i9 9900k uses an EVGA XC3 Ultra that is a budget 3080 ti. It performs about the same as a high end 3080. It think that card is the limit of the 8 core 9th and 10th gen Intel CPUs. For a high end 3080 ti/3090/3090 ti upgrade to a i9 10900k. Mine does fine with a 3090.
  8. Good choice. MSI has done really well with keeping vram temps down in the 30 series. I have 3 MSI Gaming X Trios and would have gotten Supremes if they were available.
  9. Go to https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/ and look up the power limits of the cards. PalitGaming Pro 320 watts stock AORUS MASTER 370 watts SUPRIM X 370 watts. I would avoid the PalitGaming Pro. Also the is a good source. I bought a 3080 just to test this and it had no problem with vanilla games at 4k ultra. It did not do as well with my modded games that use more vram. To give you an idea how well it did here are a few games with benches. The 3080 is a Strix(370 watts) and 3080 tis are an EVGA XC3 Ultra(350 watts) and a FTW3 Ultra(400 watts). All using an i9 9900k. Horizon Zero Dawn on ultra 4k Strix 3080 80fps XC3 Ultra 3080 ti 79fps FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti 88fps Shodow of the Tomb Raider highest preset 4k Strix 3080 87fps XC3 Ultra 3080 ti 83fps FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti 96fps Assassins Creed Odyssey on ultra 4k Strix 3080 64fps XC3 Ultra 3080 ti 69fps FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti 72fps A high end 3080 10gb performs about the same at 4k as a budget 3080 ti 12gbs.
  10. Here is an image of my 5000ds front panel. Mine is hooked up to a Aorus Ultra 3090 right now. It did come with a USB 3.1 Type -C connector and a USB 3.0 Connector.
  11. The ASUS Maximus Z690 Extreme has the slot spacing for the bridge but it is around $850.
  12. The Strix White OC. I am selling my 3080 version to help offset the cost of the FTW3 Ultra 3090 ti. So it is silly power over beauty for me.
  13. It is nice to have goals. In my youth it was MGB GTs but it never happened. I had to be practical. Now I don't, so I drive a 2022 Subaru BRZ. Like the MGM GT it is rear wheel drive, stick shift and has a roof.
  14. I did replace my EVGA 1080 ti SC2. This is the difference in two games. i7 8086k(Intel 6 core) Shadow of the Tomb Raider Highest preset. 1080p 1440p 4k EVGA SC2 1080 ti 123fps 84fps ----- Below 60fps EVGA FTW3 Ultra 2080 ti 148fps 119fps 65fps =< 3070 ti EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti 156fps 147fps 95fps Assassins Creed Odyssey on Ultra high 1080p 1440p 4k EVGA SC2 1080 ti 77fps 65fps ----- Below 60fps EVGA FTW3 Ultra 2080 ti 92fps 80fps 54fps =< 3070 ti EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti 105fps 94fps 66fps My i7 8086k was at 5ghz all cores. Compared to my 5800x and i9 10900k performance tanked on the i7 with the 3080 ti. I would go with a 3070 ti or 3080 if you plan on keeping the i7 8700k for a while.
  15. I had 3 of these cards and they all overclocked the same. As for stable. There are some games that don't like any overclock on this card.
  16. I have the 3080 ti versions of both and they have the same power limit as the 3080 versions. I had my XC3 in a Cooler Master H500P Mesh and it was at 75c gaming. With the FTW3 it went up to 83c. I ended up replacing the case. The FTW3 3080 is about the same size as my FTW3 2080 ti but uses 100 watts more.
  17. It depends on the rest of your system. The FTW3 Ultra uses 400 watts stock The XC3 Ultra uses 350 watts stock. The XC3 is not hard to cool. The FTW3 Ultra is very hard to cool.
  18. I did some test with my i9 10900k. It was 5.1ghz all core overclock vs TVB. TVB won in games and lost in benches. TVB did not win in games against 5.2 and 5.3 overclocks. My i9 10900k was stable at 5.3ghz but heat in some apps were an issue. It uses an EK 360 now and would need a push-pull setup for 5.3ghz. With the TVB setup my 5800x never beat the i9 and the 5900x only beats it in games that use more cores. I gave my i9 10900k setup to my Son to use for video editing(with a 3090) and was going to use my old i7 8086k(5.1ghz) for gaming. That lasted a week. The Intel 6 core felt too rough after using the 10 core so I built my i9 10900kf computer. You have the motherboard so it is worth getting even with out a delid. Newegg has it for $390.
  19. For a GPU go through EVGA and get a 3080 for about $40 more.
  20. Not really. I wanted nice computers but could not afford them. I also could not justify having them since I did not really have a use for them. I found one. I did 3D. When I started doing 3D I was a maintenance person. I was doing that job because I was a welder that developed a lung ailment. With computers I started with programing first since they had courses at the local university. I was not really suited to it but I got lots of contacts through it so it was worth the time and money. After programing it was desktop publishing. That did not work out as well but I did learn about printing and that came in handy later on since one of my freelance jobs was feeding several large format printers. I also did 3D animation to video for local businesses. This did not work out either. At the time(1990) it was very expensive to do. It did pay for itself but that was it. I made money creating content for video games. I started by modding games, got good and joined an indie company. I made enough money at that to pay for all my computers and go to Las Vegas on long weekends. It lasted for 5 years. Finding customers is not that hard using the internet and email. Most companies belong to associations and they usually have directories. I looked for companied that had low employee counts since it indicated that they had no one inhouse. Then I sent a proposal with examples of my work. The companies that need 3D the most do custom jobs like remodeling, stores restaurant interiors and one off events. I ended up mainly doing jobs for event companies that did trade shows, fashion shows and art shows. I live in South Florida so these sort of events happen all the time.
  21. Do what I did to get the hardware you want. Make money with your computer. There are several Pro quality programs you can get for free like Blender and Davinci Resolve. There are also plenty of YouTube videos on how to use them. The only thing stopping you is you.
  22. I have 2 B9s and they do have both. They have been perfect for PC gaming. Even when I did not have 30 series cards they did great at 1440p at 120hz. I use the LG Nano Cell(IPS) because one one of my B9s did burn in from using this forum(Chrome). The B9 that was used for games and movies only did not burn in. It took 4900 hours for the burn in to show up and now the TV now has over 7000 hours. It is only noticeable on a blank screen but it can't be unseen. I would like to use OLEDs for all my computing needs so I will be watching long turn reviews of both.
  23. To me it is simple. People that create content for a living(like I did) are against it. It was basically an attack on my livelihood. Most People that don't create content are usually fine with it. They don't feel the consequences and may benefit from it. When I was a part of an indie group(2000 to 2005) that created content for games, one of the rules was not to call out anyone on forums(publicly) for piracy since it is bad press. That has not changed.
  24. For me it will come down to cost. Right now I have 2 LG B9s and an Nano Cell 85. I am happy with the B9s but the one I tried to use as a monitor did burn in. The Nano Cell is 120hz and has VRR but it does not compare well with OLEDs in picture quality. Plus for LG. It will be G-SYNC Compatible. This is as good as the G-SYNC module on my LG 1440 144hz monitor. LG is going back to 48gbps on HDMI 2.1. At $1,800 for the 55" it won't take long for it to get below $1,500 and that is my limit. S95B No good gaming history. All of my Samsung's TVs have been a fail for PC gaming so I will need to see lots of reviews by people I trust like LTT. Too expensive. At $2,200 for the 55" it may never get into my price range. If I had to buy now it would be a LC C1. At $1,100 for the 55" I can get 2 for the price of the S95B.
  25. With a 5900x it is better to get 32gbs. With 8, 10 and 12 core CPUs, the more cores allows you to have apps running at the same time as you game without impacting the game. With 16gbs the ram will limit what you can run at the same time. So to me a 5600x/16gb setup makes sense for gaming only and a 5900x/32gbs setup makes sense for gaming and multitasking at the same time. That is recommended. At first it was an ASUS only thing but now Gigabyte has adopted it as well. My Z390 manual and X570 manual have that you can use 1 and 3 or 2 and 4, but in my Z490 and Z590 manual it shows only 2 and 4.
