  1. Well, mixers aren't cheap. The Logitech mixer is not what you're really going to want. There are very low latency mixer software for pc, https://www.vb-audio.com/Voicemeeter/, for example, would let you mix game input with discord on the pc, but I don't know how much latency you'd be looking at. You can try it and see if it does the trick. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Nady/MM-242-4-Channel-Mini-Mixer.gc should do the trick.
  2. Resurrecting but it's the syba stereo USB adapter. Could very well be available there. Lots look like it, but that specific one has a 5v mic circuit which is very nice to have.
  3. What I do is mute folks that scream into mics, as do most people, so maybe its better this way.
  4. don't get that. get this: https://www.amazon.com/external-Adapter-Windows-Microphone-SD-CM-UAUD/dp/B001MSS6CS Here's me trying to show it isn't terrible. https://vocaroo.com/i/s1om8pMGku6e https://vocaroo.com/i/s15hfudbHQLN -> lower gain, still very audible. I switch between two different mid-range drivers and two different tweeters. (note the buzzing is NOT present on my system, is just an artifact on vocaroo - download it as flac or wav). this little USB dongle is *very* powerful. Like, I got it specifically for the mic voltage is uses.
  5. That's really bad, try switching USB port. Does it do this in other systems? If this happens on a different computer/laptop or even mobile device, then warranty it.
  6. oh look. thots went superlux instead, i just said he should, but +1 on getting better pads.
  7. To be honest, get in-ears, portapro/ksc75 or something else, the logitechs and the audiotechnicas are just... not good. If you must get something big, get the superlux 668 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Superlux-HD668B-Headphones-Black/dp/B003JOETX8
  8. "Gaming headsets" from companies other than like, Sennheiser/AKG/AudioTechnica/Plantronics are generally garbage audio quality.
  9. If you're in the US: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sennheiser-Game-One-PC-Gaming-Over-Ear-Headset-White-506065/401548510262 these kinds of deals exist. You can get brand-new or manufacturer refubs of very VERY nice senneheiser headsets for cheap.
  10. the speaker blew because of the heat of the voice coil. The amp killed it or you were running it too long at full power, like on a 20hz sine wave. Was the amp hooked up to a preamp or to an amplified signal.
  11. as long as you put it next to a wall, it is fine. any reflective surface will greatly help the tiny subs in all the junk 2.1 systems (nothing personal, they just aren't good speakers) to sound passable.
  12. .snip. looking. Most bluetooth headphones have mics, tho, the issue is bluetooth has special encoding for voice, which is silly, but it is what it is.
  13. Your best bet is to use the fake surround things. PUBG would do a lot of good switching to the valve audio engine, but they probably will never fix the bad sound the game has. You can use Windows Sonic's 7.1 virtual surround for free (Windows 10). From my experience, most game developers are pretty lazy about making good headphone sound. They just buy a plugin that turns their surround mix into stereo (HRTF) and call it a day. Battlefield does it. Everyone does it. Windows Sonic gives developers access to really effective headphone rendering with 120 3D channels they can fully program, an like 8 or so static (atmos style) channels, too. Wwise and Fmod both support this and more, Valve has an audio engine-for-hire that can be used. Nobody cares. 7.1 is good enough to the execs cutting good audio from games. Why spend money developing a feature most users don't care about.
  14. What's the budget. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/747737-REG/Focal_Professional_SM9_11_600W_3_Way.html
  15. That's sort of treating the symptom then, like yeah it was causing an issue, but it shouldn't have. Your Psu should be able to filter that out. Sort of scary it was letting that much noise through. Unless it's straight radio interference all the way down the line which would be odd.
  16. It isn't a ground loop as much as it has a crappy DAC inside for audio output at no latency, so singers don't get confused when their monitor voice is delayed. It is not for listening to mastered audio (music, games, etc). The mic is connected to your PC, which has a very nice power conditioner built in, called a Power Supply. If there was a ground loop, even in the USB controller on the motherboard, it would cause major issues. The only way to get better sound for *listening* is better headphones, or better source hardware such as the DAC+AMP you mentioned. Now, you don't need to spend much to improve over the actual garbage on board audio hardware in most computers/motherboards. What motherboard do you have?
  17. How you waste your money is up to you. Settle down. What system/motherboard do you have?
  18. ":Works with any device with either a headphone jack (3.5mm), RCA, six-channel direct, digital coaxial input or optical inputs" You can get surround by simply plugging the cables in to match the spec of your computer and the speakers. Consult the motherboard/computer manual and the speaker manual to figure that out. Also, money best spent at that price point may be a good stereo setup with powered monitors or headphones.
  19. The sound has probably been slightly tuned, but there's no way they are worth that much more. Both will easily work using any source. Personally, I would be hesitant to spend that much on headphones I haven't really heard about. Most recent MDR units i've listened to have been underwhelming compared to the competition. However, I can say that there will be little difference in how these sound, and the balanced mode will require a balanced source, which is just more money.
  20. Windows has windows sonic, which includes a built in 7.1 mix, use that, it is free.
  21. Well, I'd splurge for the Porta Pros, or go with any of the excellent recommendations in this thread, other than the CX300. Unless they've been redesigned, there are many chinese cheap in-ears that will do the trick nowadays. Sub 20 is a very fun and addicting place at this point. https://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/electronics/12097478011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_electronics_1_3_last I mean even the Panasonics at 7 dolalrs are great bang for the buck. The Xiaomi Hybrids are really fun, but they are really just the first wave. The nice thing here is if they are totally disappointing, return and get new ones. Sub 20 IEMs really is the most fun you can have in audio ATM. Such cheap thrills!!!
  22. I wouldn't spend more than zero dollars in trying to make those sound - can they actually sound better? I dunno, I don't think so, and I don't mean that nicely - You'd be better off getting porta-pros before trying to make the marshalls sound 'better'.
  23. The objective audio quality is superior out of the ESS DAC on the motherboard. That's all there is to it. It isn't generic audio being pumped straight out of a generic codec. And the Creative "quality" is going to rely on how it is tuned to subjectively fit a sound signature people like, rather than be accurate. That's not a bad thing, if the SBX is subjectively better to you, then cool, but there are lots of free tools available to achieve everything the soundblaster does.
