  1. After the last wanshow I was a bit suprised with Linus. Normally he is pretty good at milking stuff. So could you at least use the stock buying to make some videos? For example: Techquickie on how online stock trading works and which tools are best (for the avarage joe) LTT video on custom hardware which is used by stock traders to keep latency to the stock market as low as possible (I hear some of these a very interesting) LTT video on hardware/software you can use to keep track of market fluctuation and maybe something about machine learning algoritms used to buy stock etc, so simply said what would you need to start a hedgefund in terms of IT It might soften the blow at least a little bit ;) .
  2. You don't need a crossover anymore, unless the devices are very old they will automatically detect the type of cable and adjust accordingly.
  3. CCNA also goes into tunneling so you would need multiple routers for this too. From what I remember from the ICND 2 exam there where a lot of labs where they had 2 offices with both a router and a serial link or something else between them where there was an tunnel.
  4. If you don't want a combo unit then you probably wont find a modem with more ports because for that it should be mixed with a switch. In those cases they often trow in a router too because else you have a modem which doesn't do DHCP etc but you can add multiple devices already.
  5. try pluggin the yellow cable directly into your laptop/device and see if this work. If so you know the problem is in the white router, if not then the problem is in the black router (and maybe later also the white one ? ).
  6. Try pinging your router and let us know what is says for that? The time it says there you might be able to improve, the other time you can probably only improve by moving or getting a ISP with better equipment
  7. If you can find the other side of the phone cable and it's close to where your router is you could use this cable. You have a Max of 100 mbit but it should be enough and stable. You need to make your own wire probably twice. Here is his to do it: https://youtu.be/Bx98ACGSSZs
  8. What happens if you open Explorer on the wired device and go to \\192.168.29.112
  9. could you give the ip addres and the subnet of both devices?
  10. looks okay to me, but do check the compatiblity list. Also maybe ask people who know more about hardware (I'm more of a software and network guy myself) if there are any other caveats.
  11. if you still got some pci-e lanes free you could consider using an expension card with thunderbold capabilities. I believe they aren't that cheap, but probably it would be cheaper than some of the other solutions.
  12. read this article: https://pureinfotech.com/setup-network-file-sharing-windows-10/#file_sharing_file_explorer use the option using explorer and then use the option for "without needing password", I believe that should work.
  13. You can use a upgrade install for this.
  14. Look into the windows app called "Widows Configuration Designer" it allows you to make a provisioning package. You can use them like this: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/configuration/provisioning-packages/provisioning-packages
  15. it depens a little bit on your budget an how big the space is. The "Router" you are talking about is a combination of many different devices. Maybe in your case you want to have these devices split up. If you can give more information about the situation that would be nice.
  16. could it be there is a program (like a torrent program) running in the background for this user account?
  17. Did you set a static IP address for the computer? Does the problem happen when another device is getting online? When the internet "doesn't work" anymore can you ping to 8.8.8.8 and can you ping www.google.com ? When the internet "doesnt work" can you ping to inside devices and can you reach them with other protocols (for example a fileshare)?
  18. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/identity/ad-ds/plan/security-best-practices/best-practices-for-securing-active-directory Have fun reading ;).
  19. @nicklmg could it be you forgot to publish it on floatplane?
  20. Uhm...the link you posted just has the installer for windows in the folder. I mean yes there is some other stuff there but it's just a file sharing site and when you click the folder the subfolders are in english etc. How is that so hard?
  21. You mean like a wifi router? That sounds good indeed, gotta get me one of those !!!
  22. Also check the firewall settings on both the w10 and the server. If you have them on default there is a big chance it won't work.
  23. Just take a ping monitor tool then. Here are some examples: https://www.ittsystems.com/best-ping-monitoring-tools/ But you can even make this yourself if you know a little bit about programming.
