ket_maniac got a reaction from bimmerman in Intel Xeon X5675 Gaming
I know I shouldn't be reviving a thread this old but I just couldn't keep myself from doing so.
8700K gets slaughtered in price to performance by the X5675.

    X5675 OC'd to 4.5 GHz on Air

I think maybe we're looking at this differently.  I don't put Ryzen laptops should be put in their own category.  To me, I see this as "Dell is offering some really crappy models, and they happen to have Ryzen CPU's".

I mean... you did start the thread that's essentially just hate mongering toward Dell because... reasons...? Social media? Says the guy that started said thread with a clickbait-oriented title.  Grow up chief. I'll be sure to avoid your "I.T. shop" too.

The average user these days has an internet connection and access to benchmarks and reviews. An average user knows how to react to R3 V/S i5. The maximum no. of sales comes from such average users buying average laptops and not convertibles or ultraslims like the ones Acer, HP and Lenovo launched at Ryzen Mobile's unveiling. The point is not this. The point is how long do companies like Dell need to believe that Ryzen is good enough? They have had a successful year on desktops, ASUS and Acer already have a pretty good lineup of  gaming laptops coming out. So when do sensible average laptops with Ryzen come out? When CryNet becomes a reality?

Dell's laptops are always overpriced compared to others, at least here in India they are by about 5%to 10%. There are hardly any AMD laptops these days but this one was released by HP recently.

Yeah, this is a problem with AMD. Intel made themselves into a household name with their advertising. AMD has almost zero advertising and relies almost entirely on word of mouth outside of people in the industry.

I know from talking to people who are buying laptops as a consumer that their entire spec decision is based on what the Intel sticker on the front says, and maybe the storage size. If they see AMD they think that it's an unknown brand and won't buy it.

That moment you can get an R5 2500U HP Envy for less than Dell's Inspiron with an R3 2200U

The only good thing to come out of Dell is the new late 2017 7567 gaming laptop.

Thanks everyone. This is a relatively new board. It came out last year so "I guess" there will be BIOS updates in the future. As for OCing, currently I am running stock and whenever I feel like I need some boost while gaming or video editing and work, I just open Overdrive and set multiplier to 18x.
I sent a ticket to Gigabyte on their website and they are as clueless as I am. And taking apart the whole system which I rebuilt just a couple of days ago is way too tiresome. So I will wait for about a year or so for new BIOS. If they come, well and good. If they don't, I'll make good use of the 3 year warranty.

Sounds like a BIOS bug. Did you update the BIOS to the latest version?

While this can be true, usually the difference is much smaller than on cpus. And on a 970, you're unlikely to be unable to push as small an OC as that unless you put blankets on the vrms

To OP: I would try to update the bios first.

You could try that. If that doesn't work maybe see how it cooperates with Overdrive.
