tropicano got a reaction from H0R53 in Samsung EVO 850 250GB
Hello friends,
I want to share with you guys my experience of changing an old HDD with an SSD (Samsung EVO 850 250GB).
First of all, I want to say, after this change, I think the SSD upgrade is one of the best options to speed up your PC or laptop.
My laptop has an B980, 4GB ram and now an SSD drive. Samsung's product gave my laptop a great speed up in everyday tasks. like booting time boost,
opening apps is instant without any delay. I don't play games on this system, but I code on it. The results are great: programming is a lot faster now.
I advise everyone with HDDs to upgrade to an SSD. It will speed your system a lot.
Thanks for the atention, and have a nice day!

You're just being pessimistic, if he wants Samsung that is his choice, and for smaller 120/250gb models they're very little difference in pricing to cheaper models ($10 for the models being discussed) . If he does upgrade he could always move the Samsung to a new machine as well. You got your ssd for a steal and a nonstandard price, so it's not really relevant

Its a tigh budget. If i were you, I would same up another 100$ and go for used parts. You can build a Pc with used parts from ebay for 130$, but for daily tasks: web browsing, youtube etc.
What games are you aiming in?

@tropicano
People in this thread are spending way too much time discussing the exact 1070 to buy. This is not important, as long as its a full length card the performance will be very similar and therefore not worth worrying about. This comes in just under $1000 with a better motherboard (msi having AM4 bios issues), a reputable branded SSD and a muchhhhhh nicer tempered glass/illuminated case.

You won't be disappointed with a GTX 1070, I a sure you. But if you are on a budget, at the moment the GTX 1060 (EVGA) is on discount for 200$! You will have to spend 100-130$ more if you want to grab the 1070.

I would go for Ryzen 5 1600(none x) + 16 DDR4 of ram (highest MHz you can get, because Ryzen series show bigger performance with bigger MHz power of your RAM, 3000MHz shows 10% more performance over 2133MHz).
And maybe MSI Gaming AMD Ryzen B350 for an AM4 motherboard.

And a decently overclockable motherboard, keep in mind cooling as well.

Keep in mind the PSU tier. Higher tier (1 best) is better. With high pressure on the power supply, the power supply itself doesn't perform on the max watts the box says, the is a watt lost. Higher tier PSUs have lower lost on watts. I don't know if I explain it right... :D

Here is a 2017 Tier list of reliable PSUs: https://www.ngolongtech.net/2017/01/top-update-psu-tier-list-2017-for-gaming-desktop.html
You can pick one of them, 3 tier would be fine.
