You may want to try unplugging some things to see if the static goes away, and if it does, try plugging it elsewhere.

Whether it's set to mono or stereo, it should still play out of both left and right speakers.
 
Make sure the pan is set in the center:

I'm afraid I can't think of anything else that is likely to be the issue since it seems it's just an audacity issue.
 
But if it doesn't work, you could try right clicking on your audio icon and choosing sounds, then go to the playback tab, then right click on your speaker/headphone device and select properties, then click on levels, and then click on the balance button and make sure the numbers are equal for both Left and Right.
 
edit: also check the recording tab and check your recording device balance levels as well, this probably should be checked first instead of playback device.

Lul, these guys just want to criticize Linus for view count, maybe they will realize that Linus's video was ironic in many ways and their points like they knew everything, wasn't even an great argument against what Linus said.
Also.. feelsbadman when they think Red files are not processor intensive, but instead memory intensive as the task manager shows CPU at 100 percent load while the memory was not the bottleneck at 22.7/63.9GB.

TL;DW: 
- The original script was written before Ryzen 5 was available and they already had other parts
- It was shot before the 580 was announced. 
- While shooting, they also realized Ryzen 5 would've made more sense but it was too late to replace at that point. Ryzen also hadn't matured as much as it has today.
 
I think a lot of people fail to see that LTT is a huge company (for YouTube channel standards) that does a lot of shit and planning in advance. Paul's Hardware is, afaik, a one man show. This allows him to probably have a looser schedule and makes him able to have shorter production cycles.

When Christmas is a little awkward every year because when someone asks what you got you have to warp your answer so they even get a glimpse of what you are talking about.

My Gtx 950 I got for $130. I have a 1600x900 monitor and my 950 handles all my games really good with that resolution.  My previous card was a geforce 9800 GT (the fan for it rattled and had been that way for like a couple years before upgrading), so that 950 was a huge improvement.
