Well the iPad Pro 2020 is still as fragile as the 2018 Version:

    I notice he put his thumbs close to the hole for better leverage.  He was trying to break it there.  Not a good test.

    @Bombastinator He always tests devices with his hands like that.

    Of course with the phone his thumbs are right together, but as you can see in the tablet sized example, he always extends his thumbs in the same sort of way.

    If he had put his thumbs in a significantly different place, it would have been a totally different sort of test here.

     

    Now whether these tests are exactly 'accurate'... Is another thing.

    The whole magic case does prevent the iPad Pro 2020 from bending (shattering) as it does without it. So either rigidity is important to Apple, or the construction of the case is done in this way because of other unrelated reasons.

    To be entirely fair, this issue is pretty much impossible to fix while keeping the iPad thin and lightweight.
