I like it. LOL but in reality, he probably would be using android if he wasn't able to just go to the assembly line and pick up whatever phone he wants whenever he wants. LOL

    Thanks for your reply,
I had a jumper attachment that came with another PSU and when I connected it to the 24 pin connector nothing happened. I went out and got a new PSU and all is well now. Computer powers up and I have been able to get it ready to go. Well except for the internet certificate problems.  again thanks to all that replied to help out, it helped me narrow it down.

Weird. I had bought a corsair GS800 power supply and it only lasted me less than a year and it would spike and randomly turn off. I dont trust them anymore. I switched to an NZXT power supply.

    Try this:

Good luck I know how frustrating this is! Especially on Christmas and trying to get your son involved on this. Hopefully we get this solved.

You may or may not have to change it. I have Kingston Hyper X Beast ram and am worried about if I get a cooler, will it fit. So I'm unsure myself. Just wanted to help you out here so you didn't run into what I am currently up against in the future. Theres even ram that looks cool that doesn't have a badass cooler. Like this. I don't know about this particular ram, I haven't researched it, but I just searched for the same speed you had selected. But it is a "lower profile" than something like the Hyper X Beast  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104472&ignorebbr=1&cm_re=ddr3_1866-_-20-104-464-_-Product

See here's my ram. You can see where the card ends and how much the cooler sticks up above the ram. i have heard this can cause problems with certain air coolers. I don't know which ones.

Unplug your PSU from everything. Take the 24 pin power connector (big power one) and grab a paper clip. Stick one end in the GREEN slot and the other into ANY BLACK SLOT. The black is ground and this will turn on the PSU to see it's working.

Id say remove those hdd cages and stack fans 2 deep for better airflow.

    This is what I think:

I would prefer a smaller sized case

    Pros:
    You save space
You can have just as good of a build compared to a normal sized case
Airflow should be better (depending on the design) since the air does not have to travel too far
    Looks good

    Cons:
Limited expansion (multiple graphics cards, coolers etc)
Some designs also give bad cooling
Not as much front panel connectors but I don't find myself using them too often anyways

I will look into them tomorrow after work. Thanks. I have noticed a few that have caught my eye.

Yea, I know it is, but still, I'm not 100% happy with it. Everything is actually running ridiculously cool in this case. I have good airflow and a lot of positive case pressure. The temp inside the case is only 2-6 degrees above my room temp. It's ridiculous. I think I'll do that. Thanks for the tip.

Xbox360. The only fun I had on it was when I was playing with friends. On it's own, it sucks.

Or my HTC EVO 4G. It sucked so bad. It was amazing for a few weeks. Literally 3 weeks into having it, it started to give me problems. It was all downhill from there. Bad build quality too...

Your setup is fine, I would save that money so you can go sli in the future. If your case was running too hot because everything is crammed in there, then you should got to a bigger case. Also I would remove the drive sleds that are not being used for better airflow.

I read the whole thing too. I appreciate you posting it. It was as entertaining as it was informative. haha I really like the comparisons with the auto mechanics. People literally have no idea what is happening with their vehicles. Most people don't even know that 90% of GMs newer vehicles have at least 30 modules (separate processing computers) on board all communicating together. It's a pretty cool system. And the way that girl treated him when he was trying to fix her Macbook is the same way customers treat mechanics. "Fix it and do be quick about it". lol Yea right.

BigRedOK got a reaction from PaulC1 in Using rubber gloves while building a PC?
technically it won't. But in reality it will. There's different ratings and thicknesses. We have a special class rubber glove that is rated for 1000volts. It won't let any voltage below 1000volts pass through. The little rubber gloves that dentists and doctors use, are so thin and impure that they let the small minute traces of voltage from your body's nervous system pass through them. Technically rubber is an insulator, but the rubber gloves have to be pure and etc etc... Anyways you get the point. LOL My dad is an electrical engineer so I grew up around this stuff and I tend to ramble and not make sense. So yea. Ditch the gloves and call it a day. haha Good luck with your build!

The rubber gloves that dentists and doctors use wont work. They allow electricity to pass through them. If you don't believe me, get a pair on and try to use your touchscreen phone. I use nitrile gloves at work to protect my hands from automotive chemicals and they allow electricity to pass through them. I've touched a car door and got shocked multiple times with these gloves on. So all it would do is make your hands sweaty and cut down on the amount of oil from your hands onto components.

I don't think that is the best panel in the market. Get a Asus PA248Q for around 270$ or PB238Q for around 180. PA248Q is 24 inches and has a resolution of 1920 x 1200. It's the sweet spot between 1080p and 1440p. Also it's an IPS panel and has awesome colors plus come factory calibrated.
PA248Q - This one is a newer version

PB238Q - This is only 1080p and does not come factory calibrated.

IF YOU HAVE THE BUDGET OF 550$ THEN GET A 27 inch 1440p

Factory Calibrated monitors have very accurate colors. These are IPS monitors and they already have very accurate colors on top of that Asus professionally factory calibrates each PA248Q monitor before shipping. In that way you get the best color for purposes of photo and video editing. It's just a way to refine the quality of images on screen by adjusting the settings.
