Is Transparent Red by Samsung, viable?

BigRedOK
Go to solution Solved by Assassin,

Hello everyone. I've gotten my PC up and running, and it's running perfectly. I am looking for a monitor because I'm using my TV right now as a temporary solution.

Here's what I need the monitor to be:

Size: 24" or above (my iMac 21.5" 1920x1080 is a bit too small for me. I find that I wish it was bigger on a daily basis)

Resolution: 1920x1080 I will not be getting into the 1440p yet. For this monitor I want a 1920x1080.

Features: HDMI input. LED backlit. 5ms or 2ms response time is fine. Nice sturdy stand, maybe even            adjustable.

My good friend recommended the Samsung Transparent Red 27".

Now, I think he's getting it to me at around $350USD.

My budget on this monitor is $400 including shipping.

What could you recommend that's better, a better value, or has  more features for the same price? I'm really looking forward to your input as Samsung thinks that their Transparent Red is the best on the market. LOL

Thanks in advance. Oh yea, here's my current build.

Keep in mind that my RAM is the same as what I put on PC Part Picker, except I have 8GB (2 4GBs) but they didn't have that option on PCPP.

I don't think that is the best panel in the market. Get a Asus PA248Q for around 270$ or PB238Q for around 180. PA248Q is 24 inches and has a resolution of 1920 x 1200. It's the sweet spot between 1080p and 1440p. Also it's an IPS panel and has awesome colors plus come factory calibrated.

PA248Q - This one is a newer version

PB238Q - This is only 1080p and does not come factory calibrated.

IF YOU HAVE THE BUDGET OF 550$ THEN GET A 27 inch 1440p

Or this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8021919&csid=_61

And it seems to blow the Samsung Red out of the water for way less money. Is this true or am I just an idiot when it comes to monitors?

Dang that's helpful. Thanks man. I do have a question for you. What's the difference between factory calibrated and non factory calibrated? I've never heard that before.

That PA248Q is a killer deal at $270. It makes it hard to not get two at this price haha.

Factory Calibrated monitors have very accurate colors. These are IPS monitors and they already have very accurate colors on top of that Asus professionally factory calibrates each PA248Q monitor before shipping. In that way you get the best color for purposes of photo and video editing. It's just a way to refine the quality of images on screen by adjusting the settings.

My friend is telling me not to order from Amazon. He is saying that it may be refurbished or built with "cheaper parts". Has anybody experienced these problems? I can't make sense of what he's saying. I sense some motive behind this or something. IDK I've never had anything bad come from amazon. Is there any truth to this? He said the same thing about walmart. I would think that all the monitors are the same and amazon can sell it cheaper because they buy more in bulk at a time.

bullcrap. Buy a new one. I brought mine from amazon and it is awesome. Unless you specifically buy a used item don't worry. Amazon will always ship new if you buy new. It's only 290 and 270 after rebates

I bought it from newegg because their two day shipping was $10 cheaper than amazon. The end total amount was $10 cheaper with 2 day shipping. Amazon's shipping for like 6 day was $32 for me. LOL That's ridiculous. So I bought it from Newegg because it was cheaper after the expedited shipping cost.
