  1. Hello again guys So, I've come up with some new PCPP Lists, any chance I could get some input on them? Ryzen #1: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/vK2CVW Ryzen #2: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/KvChJy - Intel #1: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/YFHgmD Intel #2: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/qGVzgB A) I know that Ryzen #1 is over budget (/What I originally said, which was 900 ish) but that's okay. B) Yes I know about the motherboards, they are 100% overkill (...again) but, I like them in terms of their features/appearance/etc.., so... C) IF I were to buy the Intel list/build (Above), would the Intel 12600KF CPU or 13600K CPU really be enough as opposed to the 7800X3D or 7600X?? .....or not really? (Btw, I forgot to mention this above but I heavily prefer NVIDIA over AMD in terms of GPUs, sorry :3) So uhh, do any of the aforementioned lists seem a bit more good/balanced this time? Let Me know, please & thanks
  2. I meant temporarily use My GTX 1080 with the new components then buy an RTX GPU later in the year. No idea what an "EOL farm" is So I can't comment on this. Because I want to?? 230 is not that overkill. Yeah okay sure it depends on the type of mods I fully understand and acknowledge that but, there are modpacks out there with 200-300+ mods... have a look at FTB Packs, Custom packs, etc.. If You're familiar with some (/most) of the mods that people tend to use a lot, then I can happily list some and that might give You a better idea/understanding.
  3. Just out of curiosity, Would there be enough room to downgrade on say.. the CPU and RAM (64GB>32GB) in terms of pricing and include a GPU? And stay within budget? Or would I be better off using My GTX 1080 for the time being and sticking with the 7800X3D ?
  4. The... CPU's 'extra cache' ..? You mean as in, L1/L2/L3 etc? I'm gonna say probably not, I think it purely relies on Single core clock speeds but I'm not 100% sure. I should have also mentioned this originally and I do apologize but I don't plan to do any overclocking at all, I'll do the XMP Profile for the RAM but that's about it, not the CPU or GPU, sorry for the confusion and to others who are reading this. At the moment I'm using approximately 230 mods, most modpacks tend to have, I'd say, 200-300+. In saying that, I'm not sure if 64GB would be a bit overkill/excessive, the TeamGroup DDR5-6,000 64GB Kit You linked is good value for it's price I will admit that. To be honest with ya, I'm not 100% sure what the best branded SSDs/NVMe Drives are nowadays, I just need a good 4.0 or 5.0 drive (2TB/M.2) with a good heatsink because I think part of the reason why I'm getting these BSODs is because of the heat, maybe It's not normally that hot in My room, but yeah anyway, I'm hoping to get a drive with a heatsink this time around.
  5. Budget (including currency): £700-£900 (GBP) Country: UK / England, preferably Amazon-UK as the vendor. Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming (4k Resolution (At 60Hz) at High/Ultra Settings when possible) (This also includes retro games and emulation from time to time, not at 4k ofc) / Coding / 3D Modelling. Please Read: In addition to the Gaming section, I also play Modded Minecraft (v1.12.2 currently) a lot and the reason I mention this in particular is because, some folks from the modding community (Thanks Discord users/servers!) have told Me single core / single thread performance really matters when using the kind of mods that I like to play-with / use in-game. Similar story but for RAM, Minecraft loves it's RAM as most people will know, lmao, but yeah anyway, please bear this in mind when picking a CPU !! Oh and speaking of RAM, 32GB with good speed(s) is a must-have. No particular reason, it's just really nice to have as opposed to 16GB. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): A1) I have a power supply that appears to be in good condition which is a MSI MPG A750GF 750W 80+ Gold Certified / Fully Modular Power Supply. Note: It has not been used before, I did try using it with some old components but the other components were at fault, not the PSU, I RMA'd the unit a couple times, they said it's fine on their end sooo uhhh.... no PSU will be needed I guess, so yay. A2) I also have a Dark Rock 4 CPU Cooler which has been lying on My shelf (Out of the box) for a while, which has not been used in a system/rig previously so bear this in mind, no new CPU cooler is needed so yay for that too. A3) A 2TB Main Storage Drive (M.2) is a must-have, anything below 2TB for the main drive (Windows install etc..) isn't gonna do it for Me sadly (Sorry), however, I will be buying 3.5" or 2.5" drives later in the year for Steam games, etc, etc, etc.. B) I won't be needing any peripherals (KB/Mouse/Headphones/etc..). Definitely not monitors, I already have 4 (Don't ask why, I just tend to have a lot of windows open at a time). C) See image below, these are My current specs. D) Something to note about the case: If I decide to use My current case, then ignore what I'm about to say, but if You choose a new one whilst staying in budget, please don't choose one which has tempered glass, I know acrylic is not so commonly used nowadays but tempered glass I really don't like, so umm..... yeah Hi all, I need some advice and/or a second opinion before I click that Purchase button and empty My wallet I've had this PC (See above) for about..., 5-7(+?) years and it's been having issues recently, see linked LTT post above for more details, and, well, I think it's time for a long overdue upgrade, haha, let Me care to explain why. So umm, I keep getting random intermittent BSODs with this PC and have been for quite some time now, I don't know why, I've tried literally everything I can think of in the book, I've tried contacting local PC Repair places to ask for advice and yet, I still get the same result to this day and, well, that's why I'm here to get some advice. I have a £700-£900 (GBP) budget as originally mentioned, I'm going to use some parts from My existing PC like My case, case-fans and maaaaaybe the GPU for the time being, I also have a "ready-to-use" PSU, read above for more details. Now, I'm not sure what I should be aiming towards with My budget, whether I should swap to Intel's latest series or stick with AMD's Ryzen series as far as the CPU goes, that's pretty much the only... obstacle, so to speak. Thoughts? I've been trying to come up with ideas for both AMD (Ryzen) and Intel and here's what I have so far: This is My Ryzen based list/option that I've come up with so far: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/NFk3kJ (Yes I know the motherboard is overkill/pricey but that's ok (For Me anyway)), is it Good? Bad? Okay? Could it be better? And this is My Intel based list/option: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/L8JDN6 Good? Bad? Okay? Could it be better? Both of these are probably wrong and/or unbalanced completely (lol) but yeah, if anyone could give Me some advice / give Me a PCPP list, that'd be great! Thanks guys
  6. Can My NVMe Drive (M.2) still be at fault and/or dying even though software's such as CrystalDiskInfo say that it's "Good 92%" ..? (If it is the M.2 (SSD) Drive, that is)
  7. @Bjoolz Hey So umm, My PC just BSOD'd for the first (and only) time since we last spoke here (Scroll up), ya know, the WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR etc..-, anyway, I managed to grab a pic of the Display Parameters to try and determine what's causing the aforementioned BSOD(s); I've added a pic to this comment with said parameters. (Once You've seen the pic), could You let Me know what's at fault and how I can fix it if possible? Please & Thanks in advance Edit: This happened whilst loading a level (/'stage') in HITMAN 3 It's weird though because, a few hours prior to writing this comment, I was playing HITMAN 3 and, well, it wasn't crashing/BSOD'ing then... so yeah I dunno what the F^$# is going on, lmao.
  8. I'm not 100% sure what You mean by arguments, could You explain in more detail? This is what the BSOD looks like (See Image) which displays no argument(s) Afaik, just the WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR error code / stop code. I should note that when these BSODs / Crashes happen, here is how it happens: I could be doing anything; whether it's playing a video-game, watching YouTube, literally anything, then the PC will freeze for 2-3 seconds, 3 of My 4 monitors go black, the BSOD appears on My primary monitor for about a split second (Sometimes 1-2 seconds if lucky, lol), and then the PC will restart and act normal until it decides to randomly BSOD / Crash again. On that guide that You linked, The tenforums page, I have tried selecting Automatic/Complete/Active over the past few weeks, between now and October pretty much, and for some reason it still won't generate a Minidump in `C:\Windows\Minidump` which is pretty weird, 'eh.. anyway, as mentioned originally, the most recent one is from 25/01/2022 and there's another one from 08/08/2021. I've also just done the DisplayParameters RegEdit thingy, I'm going to restart My PC now and try to replicate the BSOD if possible after having posted this comment
  9. Hi all, I made a forum post (here) a while back..... TLDR, I thought I was getting BSODs because of My SSD hence why it's posted in the Storage Devices sub-forum. Anyway, I am still getting BSODs at completely random times ever since I started getting them back in October 2023. The aforementioned BSOD(s) in particular keeps happening when I'm playing a game, browsing the web (Not as often), etc.., the error-message is: `WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR`, I am also seeing Event 41 Kernel-Power ("The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.") every time the system crashes. I have tried updating GPU Drivers, updating Windows 10 numerous times, still no difference. (Note: My antivirus keeps moaning at Me about My Intel Gigabit (/Gigabyte?) Driver being out of date but I don't know how to update it / which specific file / driver I need according to My motherboard, etc..) I have tried checking My components and certain components' health, like My M.2 SSD for example which is Good (Status) according to the software that I use. Since I'd say.... early November 2023, I have had two 8GB DIMMs instead of four. Normally I would have four, so basically 32GB total (4x8GB), but having 16GB total (2x8GB) still causes BSODs. (Note: I have two 16GB (2x8GB) kits, I know this is NOT efficient, well from what I've been told anyway, but umm....... yeah. ) I have also noticed that My PC will for whatever stupid reason, will not create minidump files...., I've tried tweaking the settings but no change. The most recent one is from 25/01/2022 and there's another one from 08/08/2021. How can I fix/resolve this to further investigate what could be at fault and/or what is causing the BSODs? If You need My PC Specs, look on My LTT Forum Profile on the left-hand side (panel), it's a bit outdated but most of it is still the same, the only outdated parts are: Display(s) / Keyboard and the RAM sort of, let Me explain: Note: I know My PC Specs are... 'somewhat old', first gen.- Ryzen etc.., but not that old. I have 4 Displays currently (1x 43" TV as a monitor (Don't ask lol) / 2x Samsung U28E590D's / a 23"(?) Samsung 1920x1080p cheap-o monitor) instead of 2 total monitors/displays. I have a custom keyboard, not the Corsair Strafe RGB, that's long gone For the RAM, I have 2x of this exact kit: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0134EW7G8 which is NOT overclocked, nor does it have the XMP Profile thing enabled. See below for more details, this is how I have My RAM set up atm: (CPU is not overclocked, nor is the GPU) If anyone could please help Me troubleshoot this ongoing and tbh, rather depressing issue.., I would really appreciate it If You also need any additional details, I will try My best to provide an answer! =)
  10. Umm.... ok yeah, there's definitely something wrong. I just updated My NVIDIA Drivers, was fine for about 5 minutes, then it BSOD'd again. Didn't even have Modded MC running that time, just Google Chrome and Discord. Also just checked Event Viewer, it's the same exact error. Edit: If any forum-moderators see this, could they move it to the troubleshooting section of the forum instead, please? Would be greatly appreciated!
  11. Hey so umm, I just ran memtest86 which lasted the entire night + afternoon pretty much, it got through 3 Passes with no errors, it was on Pass #4 but honestly, I was getting bored without being able to use My PC so I stopped it 50% of the way through Anyway, no errors were found soo... I don't know if it's the RAM that's at fault either. Whilst running memtest86 last night however, I was speaking to someone on Discord and they said it could be due to the fact that I'm using 2 of the same 16GB kits (Equalling 32GB total), He also said that the voltages might need to be adjusted. Thoughts?
  12. Just finished running this, no errors were found, will try memtest86 at some point. Do I need a USB for this?; Because if so, I don't have any spares lying around.
  13. Hey there TheCommodore, I just saw this post + the MS Forum post linked above and wanted to ask a quick question or two if that's alright Is Your Windows Event Viewer (Event 41, Kernel Power, 63) showing something along the lines of this when Your PC BSODs..? (See Attached Image): And also, what does it show in the Details tab?; Again, I'm wondering if Yours is showing something similar to Mine. The reason I ask all of the aforementioned is because, I'm wondering if I'm experiencing the same error as You If that is the case (Would be very weird if it is, lol) then maybe we could like, work together to figure it out. TLDR: I too have been getting random BSODs when playing Modded Minecraft in particular (Note: No other game does this, they work perfectly fine, both old/classic games and modern/newer games) which I recently got back into. Feel free to view My post if curious for more details:
  14. Well, the instance does work / launch successfully because if it didn't, it would give Me errors when starting the Minecraft instance. In reply to/about Java, it is needed when playing Modded Minecraft. Why?; Because a very large majority of mods runs off of something called "Minecraft Forge" which requires You guessed it... Java! I should have also noted this originally but My minimum allocated amount of memory is 1024 MB (1GB) whilst My maximum is 8192 MB (8GB). Hmm okay, I'll try using the 3 aforementioned tools and reporting back here with the results. What's the name of the Windows built-in tool, by the way?
  15. What do You mean by "anything that sets Modded Minecraft apart" ..? The launcher I use by the way is called "MultiMC". What software/application should I use to test My RAM / check the DIMMs? In reply to/about the voltage, yeah I suppose I could but would it make much of a difference?; Considering it's been set at [Whatever-it-is-at-the-moment-in-the-BIOS-Settings] for all these years?; At least 4 to 5+ years is how long I've had this system btw.
